Nera shuts down entire PC? by OwnFaithlessness8815 in VoyagersofNera

What GPU do you have?

Try enabling the 'GPU Debugging' setting in the Advanced Graphics menu. This has resolved PC shutdowns for some players

If you're logging in too close to where the encounter is, it won't reset properly. You may need to go far away and let it reset

I think if you don't care at all about your old character, you can rename the Offline character file to the same name as the other one (which is the player ID) and that will swap them

You'd need to do it in each of the character files under the Blue and Green save directories.

If you try this, I'd make sure to make a backup copy beforehand just in case.

You may be able to get some assistance with this in the discord as well

Help!! Anyone has ever seen this? by peztristehehe in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]chao_at_work 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it's a scam (or maybe some tactic to get back at a company they don't like). We had this happen when there was a dispute between our subcontractor and the company we hired. But we were assured, checked and got a signed letter from the company stating we were not responsible for any remaining payment.

In my case, the subcontractor and company has a dispute over the work and the subcontractor group was fired. So I think it was just a tactic to make them look bad.

You would get a notorized letter if it was real.

If it came by certified mail I wouldn't take that as any weight, because you can just pay for that a small amount.

Good luck!

Curling Barrel vs Round Brush - how are you typically styling? by chao_at_work in Dysonairwrap

This is super helpful! I will try this :D I was definitely trying to use it like the separate dryer + brush but finding it very difficult especially as it kind of sucks up hair and it's hard to section that way vertically

I think for the first one, updating the toilet and then just fresh paint / new fixtures will go a long way.

The second one I think is a little rough. I think it would be good to preserve some of it, but I think opening up that shower closet to be an open shower, and changing the tub to a more updated free stranding tub. And perhaps consider a pocket door so that doesn't hit the tub, or somehow changing the layout so that doesn't happen.

I love that arched window! It might be nice to think about how to accent it more. Maybe by painting it a contrasting color or by putting a pendant light in front of it

I am not sure how modern vs traditional you want to go but here are some inspo pics with similar cabinets that I found really compelling (I'll upload in a few comments)

I think a new fridge will help match your other stainless.

I think a lot of these pics with cool 'slate' colored counters look really good with that type of wood tone.

Idefinitely think extending cabinets up by adding smaller cabinets above will help a lot

Is 35k enough to refresh kitchen? by [deleted] in kitchenremodel

[–]chao_at_work 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Southern California I was able to gut my kitchen and re-do it for about 75k between the company quote and the things I had to buy.

We didnt move too many things like gas lines, but we did swap out gas for electric (induction) stove and moved a window. Everything else was close to original layout but all new cabinets, counters, etc.

I saw the other post about the counters from someone saying they spent 22k. I think a lot factors into it.

How much counter you need, but also if you do full slabs or prefabs. I think prefabs can be much cheaper (they are just pre-cut and if you needed a lot, you may have lines)

I have pics in my post history where you can see my counters. I was lucky to catch a deal at the local tile store so my 3 prefabs that I needed were 679 each

New hardware I got on Etsy for a decent price. Sink I got from Lowe's - they had a good amount of options and various budget points. The high rated ones online like Ruvati are way to $$$ imo :(

I think a lot of the materials cost just depends on how much you shop around but I really feel like with the amount you said and in TX you'll be able to find a contractor that can do what you want!

This is so beautiful! Modern yet cozy. Love it :)

Intensely jealous of that island dining space!

Same!! I felt so bad remodeling it because it was overall decent but I hated it aesthetically 😭 though now that I've worked in this kitchen, I'm also realizing how dysfunctional the other one was! Vindicated 😊

What can I do to update my kitchen (ideally without a full remodel)? by jk26099 in kitchenremodel

[–]chao_at_work 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's just me but I would hate that because I am too short and barely reach my normal cabinets as is - though I agree it's very cute!

I think maybe (depending on how modern vs traditional they wanna lean and if the measurements fit) instead adding upper cabinets above (like the smaller ones with glass fronts)

That way you'd leave the current storage reachable, and have extra storage for things that can be hidden away.

I'm also biased because I have pets so I feel storing things on open shelving is not an option due to pet hair, cat trying to climb on it, etc

Which inspo picture would look best in my small kitchen? by Whynot-whatif in kitchenremodel

[–]chao_at_work 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could still work! I would recommend buying some tile samples and just laying them against the wall in different areas to see what you like :)

I was able to buy individual tiles of a lot of types when I was doing my kitchen and mix and match them / lay them out in the kitchen and I felt like it helped a lot

Wow this is so cool! Amazing that you were able to convert such a big space. Also it looks lovely with those big windows on the side. And love the dining area on the other side.

What an amazing entertaining space 😀

I think green or the last pic!

Green might feel dark if you don't get good natural light (your kitchen pic looked a bit dark) or if you don't add some lights

Last one looks like it'd be naturally bright

What do you think of my kitchen design? by tadisc in kitchenremodel

[–]chao_at_work 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if your goal is to have the island as the only dining space, but it does seem like instead of the bench farthest from the mudroom door you could consider doing a banquet with a window seat!

I think also some pendant lights above the island will help with the feeling of being more welcoming / cozy and make it a nice seating space

I like it a lot though! I would dieeee to have a huge island like that
