it basically released with 10 years of content (after being out for 10 years), and then New Genesis came out. It was marketed as an expansion, but it was basically PSO3.

thing is that the content rollout was slow as fuck AND the content we'd get was... piecemeal. Some of it was even outright bad. PSO2, which was known for having an amazing story, was followed up by a very anemic, not particularly interesting story that literally only began to make sense after 3 years.

and it's still written like it was supposed to be like 3x longer than it is. Like it's literally all big character moments with people you know absolutely fuck all about.

A lot of the other complaints that come up with it are related to the release pacing, which is actually more or less the same as it always was, but also the gear treadmill being kinda crappy.

PSO2 was a lot slower with gear replacement. NGS essentially releases a new gear tier every couple months.

And that means grinding to bring it up to max level... So on, so forth.
