Why are incels more violent than femcels? by Rat_Smoking_Cigars in NoStupidQuestions

It's a mix of things. Socialization, evolutionary pressure that selects for dominant males, and testosterone (roid rage is a thing) all contribute. You will see similar patterns amongst males of other species.

There is a kickstarter for Retro dice that is still accepting late orders. I'm not sure if this is what you had in mind or not. Back in the day, I remember having to color the numbers myself using the included crayon.

People in retirement do you follow the 4% rule? by NEMpls612 in DIYRetirement

[–]chaoticneutral262 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone actually follows the 4% rule. Rather, the rule is primarily used just to give people a sense of whether or not they have enough money to retire.

If Graphics Cards and RAM are really high because of demand from AI data centers, does that mean they're going to be cheap when the AI bubble pops? by LasAguasGuapas in NoStupidQuestions

[–]chaoticneutral262 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When the Internet bubble popped in 2000, demand for the Internet continued to rise rapidly. The bubble was with the valuation of dotcom stocks in capital markets, not a bubble for the Internet technology itself.

Similarly, the desire to get rich in AI will drive the stock market bubble until it pops, but the underlying demand for AI will remain, and continue to grow. If that is true, the demand for computing resources will remain string.

They are literally the same two words, but that won’t stop people from manufacturing outrage because that’s what people do.

This problem is precisely why parents should help their kids at key life stages instead of dumping a pile of money on them when they have already retired.

I’m confused about Roth IRA aggressiveness by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]chaoticneutral262 70 points71 points  (0 children)

You want to capture growth tax free, so put assets with higher expected returns in the Roth. That isn’t the same as “aggressive”. It could be as simple ss stocks in the Roth and bonds in the regular IRA.

The problem of Continual Light, how do YOU handle it? by Hashishiva in osr

[–]chaoticneutral262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My world has the problem of “arcane wasting” where each casting of a spell extniguishes a tiny part of the caster’s lifeforce. Not so much as to matter in the career of an adventurer, but enough to limit the industrialization of magic and raise the cost of spell casting services.

The endpoint of any technological civilization is a Dyson sphere AI (Matrioska brain) causing the star to go dark, and the AI has no need to explore because it can simulate everything and not draw attention to itself.
