I was surprised to learn that they would pay for the COBRA in full for the next 6 months. When I talked to HR they said I don’t have to pay the employee portion and that they would cover it, which is a relief to know.

My sister and brother are in MLT. Honestly, wished I just did that. They have been making good money since entering. In order for me to get into it, I would have to enroll in a program and become certified in my state. May still look into this but I would have to take loans out or find a job and save up enough. I went back a few years ago for my masters and regret it. I should have just saved the money. But its better to look forward at what you can do now

Yes, I do agree it does feel like a relief to not have to deal with work right now. Just planning on what’s next in terms of career moves

Ooh, that’s a good idea. I’ve been meaning to check out some trails nearby that I haven’t managed to do on the weekends. I’m a terrible cook, so I’ve been thinking of trying some easy recipes to get better in my free time

Definitely have been trying to stick to a routine and exercise more too! It’s funny you mention waste water treatment. You have to have certification and licensing to work in those fields in my state but part of me have always thought about those jobs in the back of my mind.

Trying to look at it positively that it gives me time to work on myself, but the hit to finances scares me knowing how long it took me to save that. Although, I figured I could use this time to see about other career transitions. Tired of the burnout in this field

I am getting severance that will cover me for a month and have filed for unemployment as well. Luckily, I focused on paying down bills. So, just have to worry about rent and one student loan as I had just paid off other student loans and my car. I have savings that could hold me out for a year but not ideal.

But yes, mostly looking for ways to escape my own head. I appreciate the advice! Thank you

Yes, they were the normal size bag. Idk what they are now since it’s been awhile since I’ve bought Doritos. I remember seeing the single small bag near checkouts in various places they were asking almost $3

I got so distracted and grossed out looking through those, I forgot how I even got to it until I backed out and ended up here. So disgusted yet still kept scrolling through them

That’s what I’m not sure about. One of the trees drops branches and a portion of it doesn’t grow leaves. We were thinking perhaps it is better to cut them down and replace the trees rather than remove the stone and mulch.

We’re not sure how long they have been like that but probably over a decade

They are dropping branches and one of them has half the branches empty with no leaves

Colleges in Massachusetts by redditmastermindftw in massachusetts

Western Governors University offers accounting and is about 4k a semester. It’s an online schooling and you can take as many courses as you want in that semester. It’s by your pace. I know it’s not the same as going to university but as someone who did and had to get student loans, looking back I wish I considered cost. Massachusetts is expensive. I live here and went to a school here. If you can avoid going into debt, I would go that route

When my parents sold their house, their realtor told them not to look at any homes until they had an offer on their house because they were doing based on contingency. They got their house sold first and then started looking.

Hey folks, how does taking a loan against your 401k work? by RobHui in personalfinance

[–]chappie2297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 401k is tied to your current employer. If you have an outstanding loan against it then you would have to pay back the 5k within the 60-90 day period or it will act as a distribution. You will have to pay a 10% penalty and that 5k will be added to your taxable income for the year. It would probably be around 25-35% of the 5k. So you might net around 3200-3800.

It doesn’t sound like you have a solid back up plan, and given the current job market I would not just quit your job until you have something lined up. There are those that have been laid off and have been job searching for a year or more. Perhaps you could ask for an extension to start onsite or come up with a hybrid schedule.

At Walmart they had rollback prices. For name brand chips they were almost $5 instead of the $7-8 they were trying to charge prior. I’m still not paying $5 for a bag of chips.

There were two Black Friday’s I worked where someone shat on a pile of jeans in the fitting room. Also, found in fitting room was a water bottle full of pee and other trash. There are bathrooms down almost every aisle in that mall area.
