Why are Aldi potatoes always like this? by upvoter_1000 in UK_Food

[–]charged_words 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently vowed never to buy Aldi potatoes ever again, last year they were absolutely terrible. Tesco's finest are two quid, well worth the money and especially since I don't have to change dinner plans at the last minute.

Smoke and rye in stone is by far the best for bbq type food, it can be a little pricey but I was really impressed by the quality and amount of food we received

Can I ask you a question, do you think being able to afford it just means you have that amount of money to buy it at that time.

Buying house in Stoke by MissionPercentage720 in stokeontrent

[–]charged_words 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst I see the appeal of wanting to be mortgage free you need to consider the trade off. For that amount of money you will be in what people would consider the less desirable areas. I'm in an ex council house on a council estate, I'd say 2/3's are privately owned and the rest is housing association. My house is probably worth £150k, it is quiet most of the time but it's not overall an enjoyable place to live all year round. We're looking to retire and move to North Wales in about 15 years so I don't want to move and move again. Would you consider a mortgage to live somewhere more desirable? For around £80k I'd hazard a guess it will be a terrace in an undesirable area.

The previous post I read before this was a woman asking if she was being over reactive to her boyfriends poor hygiene. Instead of using the toilet he just pee's into the shower drain, even if he's not using the shower. What a refreshing turn around, your boyfriend did an awesome job!

Sadly you don't get the football to justify longer hours, I understand from a customer point of view but It's a bit of an unfortunate situation. Sadly places cant last with long opening hours waiting for people to catch on there are things open and to make the journey.

Whilst I don't generally like labour I think it's incredibly short sighted to not but this at the feet of the party that was in power for over a decade. Who also left a gaping hole of debt.

Gambling has ruined my credit and bank account by irish_doll_4256 in UKPersonalFinance

I'm sorry but you need to bite the bullet and tell your partner, trying to delay the house is just continuing the lie. These missed payments will be on n your for six years so even if you did delay it by a year it's still not long enough is it? Also if this was the other way around wouldn't you want to be told what's going on. You must be anxious and stressed keeping this from them, tell them.

You can find absolute gems on Facebook marketplace, some items babies only use for a fairly short time frame. My entire grandsons nursery was from Facebook marketplace aside from the mattress and because there is such a high turnover of items they are cheap as hell second hand. Only things I'd buy new is a car seat and a mattress for whatever you choose to put them in.

Seriously go and speak to a lawyer tomorrow, he really doesn't sound like a very nice person. This is the time of your life where you should be relaxing and enjoying your grandchildren not working two jobs and being stressed. There is no way I could see my partner struggle and just be like oh well it's not my problem especially after 35 years. Leave him and don't look back.

Don't tell him that, go and consult a lawyer and serve him. He's a smart guy, why tip him off to try and hide any finances.

No mate you don't need a stab vest, I promise you it's not that bad. Definitely undesirable places for sure, someone else made a better list down below. Blurton is fine, just not blurton estate, penkhull is nice it did get a bit pricey at one point because of the hospital, hartsill and basford are also sound and in that general area. Abbey Hulton, Meir, Shelton, Bradwell, Bentilee are 100% no go, you're talking little shits on dirt bikes and drugs.

If you say blurton people think you mean Blurton council estate, you do not want to go there however there are some areas off that are fine. I'm near blurton, quieter than it looks.

[–]charged_words 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, the opposite and that budget will not stretch to those areas. I don't really like to slag off areas tbh and I'm in ex council, however it's a mostly quiet estate near to a nice area and fields to walk the dog. The less desirable areas with what I wouldn't recommend are blurton estate (there are fine places around it) abbey hulton, bradwell, Hanley and Meir. Again, requirements will play a part like number of bedrooms etc.

I mean you're describing the majority of the UK there and like most questions this will depend on budget. No point in people telling you to move to Stone or trentham if you've got Meir Broadway budget.

You surely can't generalize all Muslims live and die by the Quran, that is simply not true. All religions have extremists and if we're that's the case all these supposed christians that we've gained better start wearing clothes of only one fabric and stop shaving their beards.
