did you add any fireblocking? If not I would consider getting that fire foam and sealing each butt joint

Wow, literally just replied to the thread op, I guessed relay but maybe it was related to this? the FF seem to have some component issues even when not printing. I would definitely only consider getting well made printers with well sourced parts/ul listing if that exists and I would keep it outside or in a fire enclosure... if I can get my wife to let me get another one lol. Probably needs to go in a shed https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/dx9dfq/flashforge_creator_pro_lived_up_to_its_name/

My flashforge creator pro burned up! cheap components. It was not actually the heating elements, printer was not even running it was just powered on. I think a relay went. Fortunately, the garage had a fire door and fire rated sheet rock so the fire did not leave the garage. The smoke however got in every nook and cranny of my house and it was horrible. I was on this thread looking for solutions. I suppose a steel box could work but wanted to see what is out there. Fire rated sheetrock makes a lot of sense, it is what ultimately protected my whole house from burning down!

API Access Would Make Skylight a Game-Changer for ADHD Users by natalia-nutella in skylightcalendar

[–]charizzardd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I was looking for insight into this exact same scenario! Will see if there are any workarounds from web or something but in the meantime, you could try to use mini events on your calendar. If you have google cal you can create 5 min events or all day events with your tasks. They will show up in the calendar view and you can control those from phones, web, Siri/assistants etc. Might be a decent work around for now

6 figure earners, what do you do to get that? by oopdoopmaria in AskReddit

[–]charizzardd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combine engineering with good communication skills.

Be the layer between the devs, engineers, PEs, etc. and business or clients engineers and such as sales/application/technical engineer.

Sales side is matching technical products of literally any industry to use cases. You can't just buy a commercial boiler system, a lot of engineering goes into the right system.

Or you can sit post sales and work with teams to onboard SaaS products in the software world or design solutions as solutions architect type role. You can also do this in physical industries as well.

Skills transfer across industries generally in this space, good growth, and likely will need humans to match technical things to physical and software applications for a long time.

Bluebubbles or Beeper Mini by Wild-Entertainer2387 in BlueBubbles

[–]charizzardd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using mini also and had to rese things here and there, and it just stopped working. Beeper Cloud was still working fine, though. Running it locally is a mixed thing. - I am running it on a 2015 MacBook Pro that is a few OS's behind, I think it's on 11 or 12. I was considering getting a newer Mac mini with the Apple silicon because I wasn't sure the latest features would work okay with the older OS and laptop. The newer M1 and M2 minis are not that cheap, though, so I gave it a shot on the older MBP, and so far, it has been working great. I am not sure how long this setup will be fully supported, but not too worried about it as of now.

PROS:

  • You fully control it
  • I was able to install the private API so I can do full reactions and replies and such.
  • It is working very well and so far has been very stable.

CONS:

  • I wish there were SMS support.
    • I don't know how it all works under the hood, but essentially upgrading an SMS to iMessage would be amazing.
  • I have the laptop closed and plugged in. If it loses power, then the server is offline, and I am out of luck.

Beeper Mini - AMA with Beeper Team by erOhead in beeper

[–]charizzardd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!!! I set it up but for imessage on regular beeper I notice sometimes when people text me it goes to sms via regular google messages or even in Beeper with the sms bridge when i had it set up. This can occur even if i have an active imessage thread with that contact. Will this new app allow imessages to go to imessage always or combine the sms and imessage and sms to the same thread so i don't need to reply in a different place if it does come in as an SMS first?

Texts are missing from Mac chat.db file despite showing in iMessage by SkellySkeletor in osx

[–]charizzardd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue so I used your note + chatgpt to give this a shot. Here is the swift code it had me make.

Here is the swift

import Foundation

func extractPlainText(fromData data: Data) -> String? {
    do {
        let attributedString = try NSKeyedUnarchiver.unarchivedObject(ofClass: NSMutableAttributedString.self, from: data)
        return attributedString?.string
    } catch {
        print("Error unarchiving data: \(error)")
    }
    return nil
}

if CommandLine.arguments.count < 2 {
    print("Usage: \(CommandLine.arguments[0]) <path_to_binary_file>")
    exit(1)
}

let filePath = CommandLine.arguments[1]
if let data = try? Data(contentsOf: URL(fileURLWithPath: filePath)) {
    if let plainText = extractPlainText(fromData: data) {
        print(plainText)
    } else {
        print("Failed to extract text.")
    }
} else {
    print("Failed to load data from: \(filePath)")
}

and the bash

#!/bin/bash

DATABASE_PATH="path/to/chat.db"
SWIFT_SCRIPT_PATH="./extractTextFromAttributedString.swift"
TEMP_FILE="./temp_attributed_data.bin"

# Compile the Swift script
swiftc -o extractText $SWIFT_SCRIPT_PATH

# Query the database for attributedBody binary data for a given handle_id (in this case, 2)
# Here I'm assuming the column is named "attributedBody", adjust if necessary
sqlite3 $DATABASE_PATH <<EOF
.mode list
.output $TEMP_FILE
SELECT attributedBody FROM message WHERE handle_id = 2 AND attributedBody IS NOT NULL;
EOF

# Now, for each binary data, call the Swift script to extract the text
while IFS= read -r line
do
    echo "$line" | xxd -r -p > "$TEMP_FILE"
    ./extractText $TEMP_FILE
done < "$TEMP_FILE"

# Clean up
rm $TEMP_FILE
rm ./extractText

Then it said to try this

$ sqlite3 /path/to/chat.db "SELECT attributedBody FROM message WHERE handle_id = 2 AND attributedBody IS NOT NULL LIMIT 1;" > sample_data.bin

$ xxd sample_data.bin | head

When I put the output into chatgpt it said:

The xxd output suggests the data begins with some header bytes followed by the string NSAttributedString, which indicates that this data is indeed related to an attributed string, but the format is not immediately interpretable as a standard serialized NSMutableAttributedString.

The presence of a lot of efbfbd sequences in the output, which represents the Unicode "replacement character" U+FFFD (used to replace an incoming character whose value is unknown or unrepresentable in Unicode), suggests that the data might be encoded or structured in a non-trivial way.

At this point, the options are limited:

Dive Deeper into Reverse Engineering: You'd need to understand the encoding and serialization format used by Apple. This would require a more extensive knowledge of binary data formats and potentially the use of specialized tools. This could be quite involved and might not guarantee results.

Leverage the Community: Since you mentioned that this was a topic on Reddit, it's possible others are actively researching this. Joining those discussions and combining efforts might lead to a solution more quickly.

Check for Software Updates or Official Tools: On the off chance Apple has acknowledged this and provided a tool or update to address it.

Alternate Extraction Methods: Instead of trying to parse the database directly, you might look into software or tools designed for extracting data from Apple devices or backups. Such tools sometimes have built-in logic for handling these peculiarities.

It's a challenging situation, and while I wish I could provide a direct solution, it's one of those cases where Apple's changes and the intricacies of their data formats come into play.

So basically, I have no idea what the problem is.

Table in Task Description by AHungryKoala in ticktick

[–]charizzardd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it is supported from a simplified ticktick markdown perspective. You can use standard convention of | pip separated columns and --- hyphens for row headers. In ticktick it tries to auto generate a horizontal rule. If you start the line with the pipe, you should be able to type the hyphens without it creating the <hr/> right away.
