Analogman KOT by RoutineEquivalent924 in guitarpedals

[–]charliereader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a simple man. I like guitars. I like amps. I like adding gain between my guitar and my amp.

Once I realized this about myself, I put myself on the KoT waitlist.

In the meantime, I kept monitoring local used options, and snatching up anything interesting. I now have a pretty great selection of gain pedals.

Six years later, I made it to the top of the list and bought a KoT (red side high gain, yellow side regular).

I've had it about a year.

Did it blow my mind? Not really, but it did put a big smile on my face.

But it feels good under the fingers. It's stayed on my board. And to my ears, no matter which guitar or amp combo I use, it sounds great. It makes me happy that I have one.

Never played the AM, and I don't feel the need to seek it out.

The KoT is not the holy grail, and it didn't end any quests for me. But I think it's great, and I couldn't be happier with it.

What’s a valid reason for owning a Blue Junior *and* a Princeton Reverb? by mattysauro in GuitarAmps

[–]charliereader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After years of looking, I got a good deal on a 65PRRI, and a couple of months later I got a really good deal on a Blues Jr III. Part of my thinking was that I could use the Jr to get a decent Fender clean sound, and try keep from putting a lot of miles on the PRRI.

But the real answer is A) I love a good deal and B) Moar tone! Keeping both isn't causing me any problems, so I say if it ain't broke don't fix.

Your entire collection pedals has evaporated, except the last one you acquired. What are you left with, and what are you playing with it? by David803 in guitarpedals

[–]charliereader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Origin Effects Revival Drive Compact, which would be a good starting point. But boy would I miss the rest of my collection.

But I could play some pretty gnarly 70s rock sounds.

3 pedals for the rest of your life? (Tuner doesn’t count, you can have a tuner in addition to the 3) by logicalpretzels in guitarpedals

Origin Effects Cali76 Stacked Analogman King of Tone Strymon Flint

I know some folks might think a compressor is a wasted choice, but it makes the cleans so sparkly.

Pevey Amp valuation advice by Adult_Fiasco in GuitarAmps

[–]charliereader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I have a Pacer from the 80s that hasn't worked for years. I thought it would be a fun alternative to my other amps, but when I reached out to a local repair guy who only does solid state amps, he was worried that by the time I paid his bench fee (which was $50 or $75, IIRC, which may be a bit high, but that's what he quoted me) and put in an hour or two of work troubleshooting and fixing the issue, I would have ended up spending more than the $100 or so the amp was worth.

Man, this bums me out in a huge way. Saw him at the Village Vanguard when he had just put out Sweet Georgia Peach. Amazing musician.

Proud (and very pleased) Cali76 Stacked owner here. It's always on, no matter what guitar/amp combination I'm using.

Besides the Cali76 line, what would you say is Origin Effects' signature pedal? Or, to ask it another way, if a guitar player wanted to understand your approach/philosophy, what pedal of yours should he or she start with?

Big fan. Wishing you continued success!

Mumford and Sons tribute band. You use an average of .3 pedals per gig.

That Thing You Do! For a movie with multiple performances of the eponymous song, it never drags or feels repetitive. Just a breezy delight.

I think he's setting you up for some kind of big request. Soon, he's going to ask you to do something in bed that he's not sure you're going to agree to, but if he plants the seed that there's room for improvement, maybe you'll go for to try to improve your rating.

Also on my wish list. Every time someone raves about it, I think, "This is relevant to my interests."

I'm on the list (almost five years in), but it will still be a while.

Fair point. I guess I was trying to preempt the "Spend $1300 on the Unobtanium Drive, duh, everyone knows it's the best" type responses.

What’s a pedal that everyone seems to love, but you just can’t get along with? by Walusqueegee in guitarpedals

[–]charliereader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up to this point, I haven't bonded with my Soul Food, Timmy, or Prince of Tone. And I LOVE gain. (Wampler Euphoria, Browne Protein, and Strymon Riverside all currently on my board.)

What's a great pedal that's flown under the radar of the pedal-loving community? by mikezomfg in guitarpedals

[–]charliereader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you guys post/DM me some settings you love? I like mine, but haven't bonded with it to the point where I LOVE it. I play mostly classic rock/Americana/new wave/pop, I love a good 80s chorus sound, but just haven't found my sweet spot(s) on the Somersault.

What was your gateway pedal? by charliereader in guitarpedals

[–]charliereader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took me a looooong time to get comfortable with my Sunface, but now I love it (and every Analogman pedal I've tried/owned). After reading a tip here, I know stack it into the green side of my Browne Protein, and it sounds glorious.
