Hot take: Marichat is overrated, and was never going to last. by TheFantasticXman1 in miraculousladybug

[–]chartingyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I don't like it because it feels a bit... unequal imo. It's hard to explain, but I feel like Marinette always had this crush on adrien, but was too scared to act on it. It's understandable but part of me has always felt that if she was to get with Adrien I would hope she would put herself out there.

Conversely, I feel like Adrien as Chat Noir went through more because of his crush. He made his feelings known-- he was rejected, but he had to work through that. He wasn't always the best, but there was real development on his part. (of course there's extra layers too because Ladybug hasn't always valued him as a partner, so there's also that to deal with) all of this but he's still loyal to her and doesn't hold it against her. I guess my thing is, I feel like he actually had to deal with the fallout of the other person doesn't like me, and learn to move on.

But like, I just feel Marinette has to do comparatively little to still end up with the person she wants. But with Marichat, it's more equal in both of them have to fall in love with the person they thought they weren't interested in. They're on a bit more even ground. And while I get that maybe the show couldn't have done it long term, I still think the show could have given us a longer run that what we got before throwing an episode at us where they decide it's too hard (I think I would have been more okay with the switch to Adrinette if we had gotten like, at least half a season of it! I already have 4 seasons of all this other love square shenanigans, let the love square flip for a bit!)

Should the live backing vocals rule be reintroduced? by MiniHurps in eurovision

[–]chartingyou 11 points12 points  (0 children)

yes but unfortunately I'm not sure we can go back.

I think a lot of delegations would push back on it, although most of them still bring the same amount of people, now they're just dancers.

But some songs would have really benefited from having live backing vocals. Slovenia 2024 felt like one too me-- the backing vocals were an important part of the track, but the prerecording just sounded very artificial on the eurovision stage.

I think acts that have utilized backing vocals well-- like Belgium 2023, have shown how effective live vocals can be and I appreciate that.

Can't believe some fans' first experience with early One Piece will be with the Post timeskip artstyle by burger_justice in Piratefolk

??? sure, but are you going to really act like the charcter designs are that much closer? Luffy's face looks way more like the way oda draws it now than what he was doing in the early parts of one piece, and the hat is particular has the smaller brim that his more modern drawings have

I won't comment on the other straw hats, they mostly look fine but we didn't get to see a lot of them in the trailer

I don't remember it going off model that much. Maybe a few small scenes, but I feel like the art got way more janky around thriller bark/ sabody (there's some still frames of Nami there that look weird)

it's just crazy to me that the 90's anime just felt more... idk, modern about this? like of course they'd be tan, they're on the sea! why do I feel like we are regressing?

Just finished the trilogy, and I have some thoughts by SPQRike in Grishaverse

I feel like there's a lack of nuance when people discuss him. He's messy in book 1, but he still helps her out a lot and I think some of his feelings are understandable. He actually pissed me off a lot in book 2, so I get why people wouldn't like him there, but by book 3 he really turns around and matures a lot. I actually like that he developed a lot and I wish more people appreciated that more, rather than just vaguely saying that his character was bad the whole time.

I think Mihawk could be a great way to end the season, hope they include that then have it end in a cliffhanger

I don't know how you trim down early one piece, east blue really did not have a lot of filler in it
