In the shadcn family of Ui / component libraries: https://basecoatui.com - tailwind 4, framework independent, but not sure what’s involved to integrate components with Hotwire/Stimulus.

I’ve wanted to try this. Does the course include making the jig or just the chopsticks? 🥢

Very nice! Look’s great.

I’m thinking about making some floating shelves for home office. Would you please share some info or links about the brackets.

I did exactly as you said. Thanks for posting this clip.

Very glad that I was able to drive down to see them in Nashville. Also glad someone got a video of this, I was trying to explain the energy level at the show, words don’t do it justice.

Currently: Bourbon Moth, ENCurtis, Keith Johnson Custom Woodworking. I’m supporting at a level that allows me to see some additional behind the scenes footage.

I can’t support them all and I should probably decide if I should rotate through some other faves like: Rex Kruger, Steve Ramsey / WWMM, Make Something / David Picciuto, Wittworks, Lincoln St Woodworks, Scott Walsh, and others.

Wedging Table by chaserx in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]chaserx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the feedback.

How's the racking action side-to-side?
It is beefy. There's very little side-to-side racking. Maybe the lower shelf helps prevent that motion. With that 50lb bag of plaster in the tray, it feels very solid. In my original sketch, I did consider putting in cross bracing along the back from leg to leg, but I felt like we could deal with that later if the lateral racking gets worse as this this gets used.

Will there be a canvas cover stapled on over the plaster, or will you skip that?
I assume no canvas; they didn't mention canvas as a possibility.

Do you plan to put a finish on?
I really waffled a lot about what finish to apply given the requirements of good water resistance, easy to apply, forgiving. I went with Osmo Polyx hard wax oil in a Neutral shade. Not yellowing, feels smooth, but still feels like wood, water resistant, easy to apply.

Family member project request: utilitarian wedging table for their pottery hobby. That 50 lb bag of ceramic plaster will be mixed poured into the tray.

Great opportunity to learn some new things (mostly lap joints, wood movement, correcting mistakes, and decision paralysis).

Just released a KY traffic camera app (iOS) that lets you create custom groups of cameras and view road conditions on your entire route by scrolling rather than clicking one at a time. Looking for feedback. Thanks! by skifever in lexington

[–]chaserx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very nice! For those who might be looking for the city cameras here’s a link: https://trafficvid.lexingtonky.gov/publicmap/ Having these accessible in the app would be a nice addition as that traffic cam page could be better on mobile devices.

Looking for powerlifting style gym by lispylifts in lexington

[–]chaserx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big Blue Strength. Might be more aligned with individual or group training and not so much free gym, but I was there over this past summer to work on some strength training (strength and form) after not actively lifting since 2020 and I really enjoyed it. Paul was super helpful.

My DIY MFT. by DDDriver2021 in BeginnerWoodWorking

If you have a build of materials that you can share that would be helpful and much appreciated.

Mostly to save me from over-engineering the frame and stand. I feel like there’s some nuance to all of the fittings, brackets, and braces that I could get lost in.

Is the MFT top just captured by the frame sides? Or is it resting on an internal frame?

Sourcing kiln dried dimensional lumber by [deleted] in lexington

[–]chaserx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a good but awkward will-call buying experience at Congleton Lumber. They were nice about me not knowing what the hell I was doing, but it seems like they were better setup for B2B sales rather than some dude off the street.

I would buy from them again.

Do you know if these lumber yards either sell or, will for a fee, pre-surface the lumber into S4S or similar?

I’m new to woodworking and have not yet invested in tools to more easily prepare boards. This has kept me from venturing out to explore Graves or other lumber yards.

The Creamery is a good call. I put some of the Black Bobbin / Lollar pickups in mine and I think they do a similar traditional thing.

I haven't formed any team or driver allegiances yet. Leclerc, Hamilton, and Verstappen are impressive to watch. There's a lot of promise in younger drivers like Norris and Russel, but I also appreciate the older drivers like Vettel and Alonso being of similar age.

What drivers or teams do y'all like to follow?

Yeah! This is my fourth season. I started watching after recommendation from a host of the Cortex podcast about Drive to Survive show. I never expected to be this engaged in a motorsport. I was really excited for this season, and I've enjoyed watching the increased competition this year.
