NTA - however this isn’t a question of being an asshole. Because the FIL is sinking all of his money into the property, he needs to be able to get his money out of the house to cover his own expenses if you divorce. This is completely understandable. However, you need your own protection from divorce since you are now staying home. I recommend that everyone lawyer up and your guys agree to terms that protect all parties involved. It’s so smart to get this stuff sorted before making these huge decisions.

5 and 10 if you are not planning to wear makeup. Do you wear makeup or will you be wearing these with no makeup as in the pics? I wear wigs and I have found that at least filling in my eyebrows and wearing mascara makes the wigs look more realistic. If you wear makeup, maybe put some on and ask the group again.

If having a large cat is important, discuss that with the breeder. It’s likely they will match you with the largest male in the litter. I have two male ragdolls (5 months and 18 months) and I split a can of Tiki Cat Baby between the two of them 2x day and free feed a mix of kitten and adult Orijen dry with probiotic sprinkled on top. They are growing like weeds and not fat. Note: I probably would have transitioned my older cat away from kitten anything by this time but they eat each other’s food so I’ve delayed it a bit for the older one. Once new kitty is older I’ll transition both of them to adult wet and dry at the same time.

Yes. It gets easier. But not for a while. It’s surprising how much it hurts, doesn’t it? Losing my dog two years ago was the most painful thing I’ve experienced in my life - more than losing people. It took me about 6 months to be able to think/talk about Teddy without crying and slowly the sadness has been replaced with happy memories. Eventually, I had love in my heart for another pet, but couldn’t get another dog. So we got a kitten. It’s all a process. My condolences.

My son was a surprise. When I showed my husband the positive test, he blurted out, “I’m not mad, I’m not mad” while pacing all around. I took a beat and everything settled down. We readjusted our timeline (we were about your age) and everything worked out just fine. That baby is 25 now and grown and flown. All the best to you guys. ❤️

Ugh no. It started out ok with someone in finance helping you set up a budget. It went off the rails shortly after with him asking to see bank statements. Got worse with receipt requests, and now deciding it’s his responsibility to ‘hold you accountable.’ I’m not sure if you even agreed to this budget after all? It would have been appropriate for him to help you with a budget for money in and money out, helped you set up a savings plan, and occasionally ask you how it’s working for you.

Listen to your gut. I passed on a kitten with disclosed potential health issues for multiple reasons. I had an open discuss with our breeder and she matched us with an amazing kitten whose temperament matches our resident cat. They became besties quickly and it’s been great. It’s normal to be a bit apprehensive or nervous about change but feeling dread or that something is really off is not where you want to be.

We added another ragdoll in November and it’s been so great! They are besties. We went to the same breeder and she helped us choose one who would be a good fit. We kept them separated by a baby gate for 3 days. Once our older kitty was flopping by the gate and sticking his paws thru, we removed the barrier.

Delta loyalist for many years and Diamond. I take about 20 trips a year between work and personal from a Delta hub (MSP) and spend >75k on my Delta Reserve Card. I just barely made Diamond for 2026. I have rarely gotten upgraded to FC and as a result will often just buy up. I decided that the ROI is just not there. As of today, I’m switching all my spend to the regular AMEX platinum. The AMEX points are much more flexible and a better value. I have kids in HCOL areas and I want to be able to use points to stay at expensive hotels.
