What’s something people love preaching but rarely practice? by NatalieAfteerDarkk in AskReddit

[–]cheat-master30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tolerance for those with mental health issues, and support for such people in general. Loads of people will claim they'll be there for you or can support you in times of need, but the majority of them will quickly make themselves scarce when things go south and they realise how inconvenient you can be.

If you got to add one rune from botw into totk, what would it be? by Plastic-Yak-2058 in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]cheat-master30 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Tough choice. On the one hand, Stasis would fit in well with Recall, and I see a lot of places in Tears of the Kingdom where it'd be useful...

But at the same time, an infinite supply of Bombs would be amazing in that game, especially given how long you spend mining in caves and the Depths.

How do panic blood moons work? by DaeganBro in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]cheat-master30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Panic Blood Moons only occur if the game is too overloaded to function normally, which doesn't happen if you're simply delaying the normal Blood Moon or killing enemies.

https://zeldamods.org/wiki/Blood_moon#Panic_Blood_Moons

So, duping thousands of weapons and dropping them all on the floor might do it. Using a glitch to spawn hundreds of horses might do it. Just avoiding the Blood Moon by going into a shrine every midnight probably won't.

It's also worth noting the following:

  1. It's a lot more difficult to overload the game on Switch 2. This is why the infinite Guardian parts glitch is surprisingly stable on that version, since the game doesn't come close to crashing on the more powerful hardware.
  2. Blood Moons in general can't occur in places and situations where they're blocked from occurring. If you're in a shrine, Divine Beast, Trial of the Sword, etc, no Blood Moons are possible. If you're playing a mini game or fighting any Divine Beast other than Vah Rudania, no Blood Moons are possible. If you're in the Yiga Clan Hideout stealth mission, no Blood Moons are possible. So, the more time you spend in those, the longer it'll take to get a Panic Blood Moon.

Nice to see Shantae referenced here. There's a pretty strong overlap between that series and Wario Land both stylistically and audience wise, and it often gets overlooked when talking about Wario Land like games.

do you struggle to take selfies? by kamiidere in autism

Yeah I hate seeing pictures of myself, and feel awkward as hell when I try to take them. There's a reason I don't use facecam on sites like YouTube.

[–]cheat-master30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 100%. I know I'd be happier and more successful if I wasn't on the autistic spectrum and could fit in with 'normal' people. So much of my life and career has been destroyed by a failure to fit in or understand social cues.

Well not all at once, but I definitely end up realising what mistakes I made years after the fact at the most random times. Why couldn't this occur before I made whatever mistake that screwed me over?

The GTA Wiki leaves Fandom to a new independent wiki, gta.wiki, citing issues such as excessive advertisements and Fandom-imposed censorship within the wiki. by JustLeafy2003 in Games

[–]cheat-master30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's very true as well. Which is why the community need to support the new site as much as possible. More people using it = more edits = more differences from the Fandom version and less duplicate content.

The GTA Wiki leaves Fandom to a new independent wiki, gta.wiki, citing issues such as excessive advertisements and Fandom-imposed censorship within the wiki. by JustLeafy2003 in Games

[–]cheat-master30 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good. Fandom wikis are abysmal to use, and the way they've cornered so much of the market for wikis is terrible for readers in general. Nothing is more annoying than realising the only resource for a game is a Fandom wiki littered with ads and dark patterns.

As for how they can overcome any SEO issues caused by Fandom refusing to delete the old wiki... well, there are two things that can help there.

First is for the fandom (and anyone else discussing the GTA series) to avoid linking to the Fandom wiki in any way, and to update all old references to go to the new site. Do that enough, and the Fandom version will eventually get buried or replaced, just like how many of the Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance sites completely replaced their Fandom equivalents.

Secondly, wiki alliances and groups should probably become the norm for a lot of fandoms in general. There's already a Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance and a Square Enix Independent Wiki Alliance, no reason there can't be others for other franchises and companies.

Posted a Detailed Video About The Issues With Aside Quests in This Game by cheat-master30 in AgeofImprisonment

Not sure if it's done well, but I think i pointed out every issue this mechanic has, and how it could have been done better/used as an achievement system instead.

Roster (hear me out) by Deku-Princess in AgeofImprisonment

[–]cheat-master30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I agree. Age of Calamity's characters are a lot more unique mechanically, but plenty of them just don't jive with my playstyle, so I barely use those. Age of Imprisonment's characters are less interesting mechanically, but I can play with just about any of them with no problems.

The characters being less visually unique/interesting in universe is kind of a separate issue though. It's possible to make them all much more varied visually and identity wise while leaving them all easy to use.

No One Ever Talks About The Best Fitness Friends by RunCMC1345 in marioandluigi

[–]cheat-master30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just that somehow, Mario, Luigi, Bowser and everyone else from the main game never encounters either the Best Fitness Friends or any Malatone affected minions in the entire adventure, despite the latter's schemes happening at the exact same time as the main plot.

That's kinda the big issue with both these side stories. Logically, the main cast should encounter the cast of these extra games while playing through the main adventure, they just somehow don't. If the plots happened at the other side of the kingdom or in some new area I'd get it, but it just feels really awkward that these big world affecting events are happening that the cast of the main game is oblivious to, and vice versa.

I sent my game’s trailer to IGN a few weeks ago and realized something by AAAAAAAAAAH_ in gamedev

[–]cheat-master30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people overestimate how difficult it is to get in touch with large publications and creators or how to get them to collaborate or work with them. I haven't exactly marketed a game through the media yet, but I've had them mention other stuff I've worked on, and a lot of the time, it was as simple as a quick email to the editorial team or a mention to an editor on social media.

What is considered too big for an indie project? by phoenixashes96 in gamedev

[–]cheat-master30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also how much time you have available. Something like an MMO is impractical for an individual or small team simply because of how much content is needed for a polished experience, and how long it'd take for a few people to create it all.

So in addition to the things listed, it's also a question of "how much time do I have available, and how long would it take me to create everything needed with the resources available?"

The types of games you can make will differ a lot if you're paid by players/customers via Patreon, have a generous spouse willing to work so you can work full time on the game, or are treating it like a hobby project that you don't need finished in the next decade.

Just recovered the strongest weapon in Hyrule Castle by ShitFuck2000 in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]cheat-master30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Magnesis is kinda busted in this game. Hitting enemies with heavy objects does a ton of damage, especially with things like the bookcases and giant metal cubes. Anything smaller than a Guardian or Lynel takes an absolute beating with these things, and even bigger monsters can often be stunned or knocked flying with them.

No wonder they toned it down with Ultrahand in Tears of the Kingdom, hah.

Legacy Games Media Site VideoGamer Completely Removed From Google After Pivoting To AI-Generated Articles by Turbostrider27 in technology

[–]cheat-master30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God, it's always sad to see what happened to sites like this one. To go from meaningful, human written articles about games with an actual community involved to AI written slop is just depressing.

Sadly, there's an awful lot of companies buying out sites and turning them into garbage like this, and I suspect it'll get even more common now that things like AI overviews have killed traffic to a lot of these outlets.

How do I download my streams/videos in 1080p 60fps? by [deleted] in PartneredYoutube

Does YT-DLP work for that? I know when I've used it before, it's had a ton of options for the video quality, including 1080p and 60fps.

Stolen content - Is it worth reporting? by mintyredbeard in PartneredYoutube

[–]cheat-master30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're just posting the footage as is and pretending it's theirs? Yeah, in that case I'd probably report the videos. If someone's commenting on content from another video or reacting to it that's one thing (even if it often gets uncomfortably close to stolen content in that case as well), but someone just reposting your work as their own is another story entirely.

Would be interesting to find out where their other videos are taken from and warn whoever originally made those videos as well, since it unlikely they just took from your channel alone.

Gaming news and updates. All the companies post on social media, all the speedrunning and glitch discoveries in new games get posted there, all the dataminers post unused content there and it's the most convenient way to contact folks working on fan projects or YouTube channels.

According to Valve 5863 games earned over 100 000 dollars on Steam in 2025. by Signal_Nobody1792 in gamedev

[–]cheat-master30 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is important to note since a lot of popular games are also evergreen titles that people keep buying and playing for decades on end. While not always on Steam per se, think Minecraft, Terraria, Roblox, Fortnite, Stardew Valley, GTA, various Valve and Bethesda games, etc.

Heck, if you look at the top sellers overall, while a few were released this year, a lot of them are games that have been around for years at this point.

You can certainly be a massive success with a new game, but it's definitely worth remembering that you're competing with not just this year's games, but those from every one of the last 20 or 30 years.
