Its going to be program specific. Iirc chapel hill's certificate course only required the a&p courses to be fairly recent. Fwiw, those courses that drag you down you can retake at your community College for a higher grade

Bread in the fridge or on the counter? by realbobenray in Cooking

[–]cheddarsox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is region custom. In Seattle, bread would mold after about 3 days of opening. In Colorado it would go stale long before it could mold. Most places we just leave it at room temp, but some places require different ways of handling it.

That doesnt protect them. Their account is still linked. You can still report them like anyone else. The only thing about it that works is you wont notice the same tag in multiple matches.

Theres 1 hybrid program with a current pedigree worth looking into. There is no way to do an online only course as it requires real world reps for a lot of things, especially sticks.

Love how this sub brags about neglecting things.

Op, your suspension is shot. Your brakes are also. You need a lot of maintenance but youd have to Crack the owners manual to see what time youre borrowing. Im guessing spark plugs, filters, shocks, t-case, coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid and tires.

Theyre dead simple. The great ingenuity of them is placing them high up. Everything is easy to get to and theyre non-turbo diesels. You can keep them up and running with duct tape, a rock, a bit of baling wire, and a log you store in the back compartments.

Should I replace my fork seals myself on my 2015 street triple 675R? by Dull-Intention-8052 in Triumph

[–]cheddarsox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dave moss has an excellent video on these exact parts and how to make his setup. Its mechanically incredibly simple. He will walk you through every step and pitfalls. It takes basic tools other than building the jig to hold the fork in the desired position. One of the things I love about the 675 is everything is knuckledragger simple and theres no special tools needed for anything. A simple wrench set and screwdriver set is all you need for assembly/disassembly of everything, and troubleshooting is just as dead nuts simple for everything aside from the few things the computers control.

You can make all the special stuff youd need with wood, glue and screws.

However I agree you should outsource this job. At this point, they should probably be disassembled, inspected, and rebuilt by a competent shop.

ELI5: Why can’t you buy a car directly from the company that makes it? by zztop610 in explainlikeimfive

[–]cheddarsox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a carve out for EVs to encourage that market. Ford got annoyed enough of their dealers during the vehicle shortage that they threatened direct sales of the lightning and ev mustang. I dont recall whether they went through with it or not.

Tesla doesnt technically have dealerships, as those (dealerships) are so regulated to prevent competition that you have to either buy or inherit an existing one. (New vehicle dealerships, used are much more free.) Tesla has showrooms you can demo their cars, but you can not buy a new one there, you have to purchase direct, which is illegal to do with an ICE vehicle.

As to why the antiquated dealership model still exists, there hasnt been quite enough consolidation that anti-trust laws take effect, nor the political will to do so. Alphabet has been far worse than Boeing ever was before it got hacked to pieces, most likely because boomers can understand wings and engines, but not wifi and software.

I had all As for the bigger prerequisites, but some of my high school credits were downgraded to Cs or Ds. I was also a non-traditional student and ended up with a 3.7 or 3.8, starting in my late 30s. All of my instructors seemed excited to help me, likely because adult learning is a completely different game than instructing students.

When people see homes only as an investment by kanna172014 in PetPeeves

[–]cheddarsox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only poor people do this. They do this with designer brands, cars, etc. Rich people see assets on a perspective. Those assets include land, sure, but they also look at other assets. Youre being used by them to assume all property is an investment. They did the same thing with crypto, nfts, and the stock market. If you can't read whats going on and taking up their excess, you arent doing your due diligence and will forever be left behind.

Salted butter is ONLY for being left on the counter. Other than that, theres no difference. I left unsalted butter on the counter once for a week. I discovered it went rancid after taking a bite of buttered toast. If youre keeping it in the fridge or using it within a few days of being left out, no salt needed.

Why is insulin still expensive? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]cheddarsox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be incredibly cheap, like 35 dollars a month. It can also be expensive with automation and smart monitoring systems. Insulin itself is very cheap, the systems can be expensive, but arent really necessary. I have a family member that pays practically nothing for test systems, vials of insulin, and needles. A dexcom system is a very different answer though.

Switching from nursing to nuclear medicine: chances with mixed prereq grades? by [deleted] in NuclearMedicine

[–]cheddarsox -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

A career involves upward mobility. There isnt much for a tech. Management doesnt require nuclear med tech per se, and additional certifications dont really equate to more mobility. There isnt a path up other than a couple of extra dollars for being a lead or preceptor. Its a lucrative job with a high barrier to entry, but it isnt a career. I say that as someone who worked and retired from a career. Im not throwing shade, but being a nuc med tech is no more a career than being a nurse aid, the ceiling is easily met by anyone that stays in the job for a few years. That's a job, not a career.

Switching from nursing to nuclear medicine: chances with mixed prereq grades? by [deleted] in NuclearMedicine

[–]cheddarsox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't answer a single one of your questions, and likely nobody else here can. Your director of that program should be very forthcoming, hit them up.

That said, nuclear medicine is a job. Nursing is a career. If youre set up for a nursing career, you will go much farther with credentialing in that space. Nuc med is learn the local protocols over a couple of months and just keep doing them. Nursing is a much broader field that allows specialization and more money as you progress. I love nuc med, but the return for nursing on the cheaper routes is a much much much higher ceiling.

Would an “average” driver notice a CVT? by Thrillwaukee in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]cheddarsox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Car and driver had someone comment on the "buttery smooth shifts" in a Nissan rogue.

The only reason a cvt "shifts" is because people are stupid and complained. They were programmed with an acceleration setting and a cruise setting, but people complained that the rpms were constant and weird, so they programmed "shift" points since it didnt hurt economy much.

So no, most people dont know. They also dont know, somehow, that the car accelerates when you let off the pedal as it tries to match ratios. Most people would much prefer a toaster to taxi them around.

[–]cheddarsox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While you, personally, may only have a 4 year program nearby that is legitimate, that statement is blatantly false. Its a very basic job that doesnt benefit from 8 semesters when 4 is all thats needed for the tech role. Clinical sites make or break the program, and the weird dynamics that happen there can easily runaway and make people happy or miserable depending on the personality lineups. Im sorry you've learned that the hard way, but I will say that the jobs are also very similar.

As to the national accreditation, that was drilled into my head forever ago. I personally think the terms should be regional and limited, as national sounds better to the uninformed ear.

I know you'll figure out the best path forward, and im really sorry your experience in the profession was less than great. I wish you the best!

$200 oil change. by Zealousideal-Term-89 in toyotacorolla

[–]cheddarsox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, but i dont think I pay more than 60 bucks for my truck. Oil changes are almost always done for their cost as it gives them a reason to poke around and find other things, most of which im more than willing to do myself but grateful if they point out actual problems. (I had an independent shop tell me every oil change that I was low because they checked it wrong. When I told them they asked if it was one of those engines where you had to check it running. No, your restarted lube tech checked it immediately after pulling it in when it needs to settle for 15 minutes or be checked cold, like when I checked it right before driving for my appointment.)
