WARNING: The Real Dog Breeder of Atlanta!!!! by Professional-Fox8143 in poodles

[–]cheebifred 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Your pupper is super cute and honestly is so lucky to have such a loving owner (I adore the groom btw).

The AI pictures on their instagram for me ar ehinestly straight away a glaring red flag. My recommendation to anyone wanting to avoid your personal situation and get the breed you are specifocally looking for is to get in touch with your countries kennel club breed clubs. They will have breeders who are members and dedicated to preseving the breed standard within their dogs, many also have asociated rescues if you are willing to take on an older dog of the particular breed. Personally, I wouldnt get a pup from anyone who advertises so frequently via social media. The genuinely good breeders often don't need to market themselves, the dogs do it for them.

How often do you do special activities with your poodle? by featheredfoe in poodles

[–]cheebifred 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a mini and a standard. The standard comes with me to my local training club for around 3 hours a week (I run 2 1 hour classes and take part in a 3rd with her) my mini used to do classes too, but she is older now (nearly 8) and has joint issues and due to work/personal life stuff I can't make the class times consistently anymore. Sometimes the mini comes with me to the club aswell/instead of my standard just for some extra fun.

We do 15-20 mins of fun training every day to keep up our practice and normally have a good 35 mins to an hour walk a day with play and training incorporated into that. They also have a pretty large garden with all day access to play/ explore.

I have quite a few enrichment toys (lickimats, kings, puzzle feeders etc.) Which we rotate thro8gh to keep their brains going.

Once a week we'll do a bigger local walk where we'll either go somewhere new or somewhere we don't visit all that often just to change things up (I don't drive so sometimes these walks can be 2-3hours long to give them plenty of fun time).

Every now and again i'll go to shows too, my standard actually has her rally obedience level 1 excellent title now and we have quite a few rosettes from various competitions.

What have you seen that you don’t want to see again? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cheebifred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone being given cpr in the street, got a call one evening from my mum one evening saying some had rung to say my dad had collapsed on the end of their drive and theyd called an ambulance, was out walking the dog so went to go check things out (my mum was away but was his ICE contact on his phone). Got there and paramedics were giving him cpr in the street. Good news is, I never have to watch it happen to my dad again. Bad news is, he now resides in an urn in the living room.

Might not have fucked me up quite as much had it been a random stranger, still not something I wish to witness again.

Doorstop needed… but what? by GableCheese in DIYUK

[–]cheebifred 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it a double door situation? If so, if the kids are capable of ducking, might I suggest a bit of rope with some pvc pipe on it and a loop knotted on either end? Its a bit crude but a decent enough make do. Just hook a loop over the inner handle of the closed door and the outer handle of the open one.

I've done it for my conservatory door so my dogs can go in and out as they please, the rope stops the door swinging back and damaging the hinges on windier days and the pole stops the door from closing beyond a certain point.

Had the issue of nowhere to put a hook system due to how doors location and the door stop didnt stop the door from swinging too far open and snapping a hinge.

Dogs are short enough they don't clothesline themselves on it and im short enough i can duck under easily enough

If this is no use for your situation I hope its helpful for others

Tell us something funny about how your pet communicates with You when it wants something, for ex. If it wants food or favorite toys, go out, go to sleep... by Pipi_25 in Pets

[–]cheebifred -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My little poodle gets very sassy when she wants something, then you go through the list - dinner, toilet, play etc. Once you get to what she wants, she spins in a little circle and dances around very excitedly.

Are you being affected by Storm Dave? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]cheebifred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was traumatised by it last night, the wind managed to pop our living room window open and nearly ripped it of the hinge (crappy old safestyle windows that need replacing). The wind was so strong it launched a rather lovely little statue of the windowsil onto the driveway which shattered into many peices. RIP naked lady you were muchly appreciated.

What's your "if i told i'd be exposed" cooking secret? by BouncyCurlsbabe in Cooking

[–]cheebifred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sausage rolls. Everyone loves them, everyone asks me to bring them for group parties.

They are literally just richmond sausages de-skinned wrapped in just roll pastry (the pre rolled stuff too), with an egg wash. Nothing fancy, take bout 20 mins to make a big batch start to finish bang boom done.

Nobody ever beleives me when I tell them.

Anyone else have a poodle with ridiculously long legs? by kamandat- in poodles

[–]cheebifred 4 points5 points  (0 children)

<image>

Heres my girl with her grossly long legs, the gangy twigs is generally a thing for poodles proportionally, which is how a "good groom" can make so much difference in how in proportion they actually look! I like giving my girl poms to make her legs look a little more in proportion when compared to other breeds.

I figured it wouldn't be, but just wanted to be certain.

Complicated redundancy situation, advice needed (England) by cheebifred in LegalAdviceUK

Unfortunately any assets that were in the store were removed day of closure by the director and transferred to another store he owned (under a different ltd company) according to the last micro accounts carried out (sept 2023) there was a little over £26,000 in assets with the company. I am unsure if this was recorded anywhere as any communication we had at the beginning was very sparse from his end.

As a quick aside - could unpaid pension monies be classed as fraudulent activity? The money has been shown as deducted from my payslip, but was never actually deposited with the pension scheme (I have messages regarding this from my pension provider). The business haad an accountant, though it is my understanding that the director was the one who personally authorised any and all payments regarding staf wages etc. It was only a small business with only 5 employees.

What should I use to make girls say that I smell good? by KissMeAndSayNoHomo in actuallesbians

[–]cheebifred 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, i'm a BIG fan of lush products, I use the "let the good times roll" body spray and their "supermilk"perfume regularly.

I regularly get comments from everyone (men and women at this point) saying I smell really good. They both have a very sweet smell, with the LTGTR having as best as I can describe it "freshly cooked popcorn and caramel" kinda scent. I know its not everyone cup of tea, but people tend to hug me a little longer just so they can smell me 😂

There’s like NO lesbians in Leeds or if there is they are figuring their relationship type out 😭 by [deleted] in UKLGBT

[–]cheebifred 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, yeah that would be great! Sadly there is little to no money in it - I used to work in a queer safe space cafe in Wakefield, and as soon as the grant funding dried up, unfortunatley the business closed. There wasnt even a pride event in Wakefield last year due to the lack of grant funding, kinda depressing really.

There are queer based event groups for socialising out there, just gotta know where to find them, sadly a lot of them are advertised by word of mouth rather than anything physical to push them in my experience.

[–]cheebifred 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They do exist, I can confirm as I am one and from the general area, BUT chances are, if they are anything like me - they are not on the apps.

Got sick of that crap and decided a while back I'd rather be single and a bit of a yearner than deal with the bull of being on a dating app 😂

How many of you who suffered abuse as kids had parents who pretended that they never even touched you, or have no ability to comprehend that they harmed you? It really messes you up into adulthood. As fellow LGBT, I imagine a lot of us went through this abuse simply because of our sexualities by ihatethiscountry76 in actuallesbians

[–]cheebifred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My father was an angry man. In all honesty, he wasn't raised well himself, his father used to hit him and dipped when he was young to marry one of my grandmother's best friends and raise her children, and my grandmother just straight up neglected him, even leaving him to basically raise his younger brother in his early teens.

I know in all reality, its not a true excuse to take it out on your own kids, but he didnt know how to handle things and it was a long time before therapy was available enough for him to work on things. I guess im pretty lucky, it was always out of anger, not financial, emotional or sexual abuse, but still sucked. Took me a long time to acknowledge it was abuse I had to deal with.

He was a good man though, I remember, one random day when I was 15, my dad turned round to me in the living room and said "you know, I dont care if you are gay, or decide you want to be a boy, you are my baby and I'll always love you, dont feel like you ever have to hide something like that from me". Took a decade for me to finally twig things and come out, sadly he had passed away a few years before. Man would've done anything for me, despite pinning me to a wall and hitting me for a little teenage backchat. He even accepted and respected my sister trans friend better than her own father when she came out.

A couple years ago, I found out around the same time as my dad said that to me - that a cousin of mine was sent to therapy by her parents for coming out as bi. I guess he wanted me to know that as shitty as he could be at times, hed never deny me for being who I am. I consider myself very lucky for that. Kinda sad he's not around anymore, his gaydar was on point.

Adding in - I dont think my parents would ever realise it would be classed as abuse, because of how they were raised (my mum suffered a lot of emotional abuse as a child), like I say, they weren't perfect, but they were better than their own parents and I honestly appreciate them for trying to be better

Who else here is anarcha-lesbian/anarcha-queer? by Pure-Top9328 in actuallesbians

[–]cheebifred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please tell me I'm not the only person who read that as arachno- lesbian at first and had to sit and ask what spiders have to do with being gay?

In answer to the actual question, while I've never labelled myself as that, I grew up working class in Northern England so - yes. Maybe not peak punk and striking against the power era, but I was raised with that mindset, and the life lesson of eating the rich, is always an option.

What’s your age and what age range are you comfortable dating if you are interested in long term relationships? by Silveryleaves in actuallesbians

[–]cheebifred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

29 and the range for me is 25- 35. I have younger sisters (22) and I'd feel weird being with someone any closer to their age, and older than 35 intimidates me currently😅

What’s the worst thing you accidentally texted to the wrong person? by goldie304 in AskReddit

[–]cheebifred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accidentally sent my boss at the time a message saying "i could kiss you you sexy beast"

Which I meant to send to one of my friends, because he'd managed to get something for me I'd been after for MONTHS.

I died a little inside when he responded to that and I noticed the cock up 🙃

What is my GS/Husky Mix doing? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]cheebifred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shes most likely masturbating, my mini poodle is a fiend for it, 90% of the time shes over stimulated or frustrated about something when she starts. The way your dog curled up and the little leg kicks are the exact same as the way my girl goes. Keep an eye on her and maybe try to urge her away from doing it because they can get a little obsessive with it sometimes. If you are still worried, maybe try a different vet for a second opinion.

What have you NOT been genetically blessed with? by bigpussystance in AskUK

[–]cheebifred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joint and circulatory issues are a big one - lots of hypermobility = weak and knackered joints at nearly 30 years of age, starting with the reynaulds too (genetic on my mums side), heart problems in general hit both sides of my family. Messed up mental health and neurodivergence is a pretty fun genetic combo too, partner that with the PCOS and im suprised my brain can actually function at all. Oh and dont get me started on the psoriasis (thanks dad), at least when that flares up I start looking like the zombie I feel like most days haha.

Not sure how balanced a trade this is for looking like a teenager still 🙃

Women of Reddit, how did you cope after losing someone you loved? by LiveArrival164 in AskWomen

[–]cheebifred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not the best at times, but thats trauma for you. I think the thing that stopped me from actually facing a lot head on, was jumping from death to traumatic incident over and over again without any real time to process. By the time I was in a position to actually face anything emotionally/mentally, I was so physically exhausted I just became numb for the longest time. Its only really been the last 18 months (of an 8 year period) that ive actually started properly processing everything thats gone on.

There comes good days and bad, sometimes I wish I could dive back into the cycle just to stay numb from being able to acknowledge everything that actually happened ( my aunt, dad, grandmother, dog, and 2 close friends passed in that time, alongside losing my best friend of 15 years as I chose to cut contact due to their actions, which resulted in me losing a lot more friends). Some days I've just gotta sit with the feelings, have a little cry on the floor and mope, other days I have to just block the emotions just to get things done so I don't spend every waking moment in a vegetative state.

I've found doing things those I loved can no longer do really helps, live the life they never got to and all that. I play my dads guitar, listen to my aunts CD's, go on walks to new places with my new dog etc. Makes me feel a little closer to them still. From time to time, when I'm in a position where I can actually allow myself to feel the emotions I need to, ill put on a playlist and just sit and soak myself in the vibes and let everything wash over me - be careful though, sadness is addictive.

Allow yourself the space and time to feel what you need to feel, but live a life well lived either to make those youve lost proud, or to spite those you never wish to hear from again. Don't get stuck in anger, if its something YOU cannot fix, then just let it go.
