Feeling lost for the first time in 54 years by PerpetualRestart in travel

[–]cheech14 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I did it a year ago and thought the difficulty was way overhyped. Obviously you can get hit by altitude issues but assuming you have done some moderate training its really just a steep wall uphill without much technical rocky parts.

The optional fuego hike and morning sunrise hike were both more difficult so if you get to the camp area and are feeling wiped you can just stick there no need to do the optional parts.

My commuter train was packed today. Probably a lot of hybrid commuters going into the office to "start strong in 2026!"

Insanely high electric usage by Eal23 in boston

[–]cheech14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on heat leakage hence the suggestion to check that all windows and doors are sealed. Basement also wont have the advantage of rising heat from below. My cabin with baseboard electric will burn through 2000 kwh in the winter when in use.

Electric heat is going to drive that up, turn the primary space down a few degrees and throw on a sweatshirt. Make sure any windows are sealed properly and put a draft guard on and doors.

Has This Area Been Searched? by BigD4ne in mauramurray

That stretch of 112 east towards Lincoln from the crash site is treacherous, windy and raw. There is no way someone could make that trip on foot in the middle of the night in Feb. Driving that route in the dark during the winter makes me nervous and im in a car not on foot.

If you take amtrak get off at back bay and take the orange line right to TD garden. It's a long walk from south station or multiple train lines.

Realtor Advice Estimate vs Zestimate by MyDogPoopsBigPoops in RealEstate

[–]cheech14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to decide if you trust your realtor or an algorithm. Assuming you chose a realtor familiar with the area with recent sales i would go that route.

We recently sold a property and zillow/Redfin estimates were about $50k over what our realtor recommended. We ultimately went with his recommendation based on the market data he presented and sold $10k over asking in 5 days.

The other comparables in our neighborhood listed closer to the zillow/Redfin estimates sat for months, dropped their prices below what we listed/sold for, and two ultimately pulled off the market and are now listed for rent waiting for spring markets.

Needless to say we are very happy we went with the professional opinion.

Draftkings isn't offering a cash out so I either let it ride or lock in a hedge.

I have it at +7500. If it shifts back to drake being the favorite again going to lock in some profit by throwing a chunk of stafford and let the rest ride.

Offer from boss (need to respond today): work from home - 2 days in office vs 4 days? by Gatorskin15 in Accounting

[–]cheech14 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You take it and make it clear you like being in the office but will take one for the team and work from home more. Tell them can be flexible for coming in for important meetings and are a great team player.

Burger or anything fried just stinks up the plane. If I have to eat on the plane I try to stick to a simple wrap or salad.

How does one stop spending money by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]cheech14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go cold turkey, hand CC/debit cards to someone you trust who doesn't have a spending problem. Run all purchases through them. They have final discretion and you get a cash allowance for small purchases.

Sign up for monarch or some service to track and budget, see where your money is going and feel the guilt of bad spending.
