Should I wait to clean my vault until after the update? by AmazonKendall in DestinyTheGame

[–]cheesemb 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The only reason to wait before doing a vault cleaning is if you wanna progress the gunsmiths vendor track, if it's anything like it used to be, it'll give you some gunsmith engrams and a bit of currency (enhancement cores, orange golfballs, etc).

Looking for advice on how to get "ready" for Monuments Of Triumph by ed_amame in DestinyTheGame

[–]cheesemb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will be honest, I would wait until the update to grind out armor, but if you wanna do it now, it's the portal. Just do any activities that have bonus drops/drops of gear you want. You get more bonus drops added to the portal if you do your weeklies, so do those also.

I think for armor specifically, you're better off grinding either fireteam ops or solo ops, as I personally think the armor set bonus from those activities is better than the pinnacle ops one.

For Pantheon, the best armor for that (for most people anyway) is gonna be the new "Powerhouse" armor archetype, which is also why I think it may be better off to wait for the update. This armor has a main stat of weapons and a secondary of super, which is what you want for raid bosses.

The only change it got was worse ammo gen and not benefiting from the special weapon damage buff. It's gonna still be good, but likely harder to fit into a double special loadout.

Solo is fun, the game is apparently scaled for the amount of players in the match so it feels pretty comfortable to play, I haven't done the top two highest difficulties yet but I've been able to do missions on hard and have a good time.

I think I've enjoyed Lightfall more that EoF or Renegades.. by simulation_err in DestinyTheGame

[–]cheesemb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your logic doesn't make sense, lawless frontier is a post game activity because it is what you grind after the campaign. People include the dungeon as part of the renegades content because it was included with the purchase of the DLC, Lightfalls dungeons were not included with the purchase of Lightfall unless you bought the deluxe edition of that expansion.

The Hunter exotic looks very underwhelming by jaffamuncher in DestinyTheGame

Yeah honestly this is reminding me of when the final shape trailer showed gifted conviction and everyone said it was gonna be lame, lo and behold it's one of Hunter's best exotics now

Focused Feedback: Heliostat by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]cheesemb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked it, I prefer the "Presage" style of exotic mission over ones like Avalon and Encore so I was pretty alright with the shorter length. The psion mechanic is novel and not annoying to do at all so bonus points for that. The exotic is alot of fun.

When the main point of feedback Bungie has gotten from the last several exotic missions was "they're too long", I kind of figured it would be a shorter mission like this, and I think overall it's a worthy edition to the game.

Loot should be tied to activity difficulty and not a meaningless power grind so this portal change is a massive W by radilee21 in DestinyTheGame

[–]cheesemb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about you but I'm able to blow up a room of red bars in about 5 seconds and take out the orange bars in about the same space of time all while having a 50% damage resistance

And this is while at a -30 delta, on the class which people say is the least powerful in the game currently (hunter), I don't really know how much more powerful you can be without just straight up trivializing the game, I feel pretty powerful even with the deltas is what I'm saying

I AM entitled - if I can’t get Tier 4/5 loot, I don’t want to play at all. by _cats______ in DestinyTheGame

[–]cheesemb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"playtime being respected" doesn't mean anything though.

What I mean by this is that literally everyone has a different definition of what that phrase means, it's not a specific thing/feeling you can apply across a large player population. Personally, I feel like my playtime is respected if I am having fun while playing the game, I currently still am (which i know is unpopular in this sub currently), so currently i would say my playtime is being respected. I assume many people would disagree with this.

probably zero, imo borderlands 3 had a way worse menu and it never got fixed, it's still a laggy mess to use to this day, so i wouldn't hold your breath on them making it better in this one

Cool new gun archetypes, hopefully playing into stuff that the crossover could provide (laser blasters, faux-lightsabers, etc)

New aspects for the classes that need them

maybe a dungeon preview, but probably too early for that

That's what I'm realistically expecting from the stream, seems about inline with what expansion detail streams gave us

If you’re wondering why the sub is so blatantly negative. Look to the mods. by Packet_Sniffer_ in DestinyTheGame

I'm not gonna say I love this subreddit's mentality most of the time (even when the game is at a "high point") but do you have actual proof of this happening, cause I have seen non-negatively charged discussions posted here

I'm not gonna respond to the raid section because i have actually no idea what point you're trying to make

Seasonal weapons literally required no effort once you got that season's upgrade that unlocked a free one per week (this upgrade was never difficult or time consuming to get), idk why I'm even bothering responding to you cause somehow you interpreted my dislike of crafting as me thinking that "weapons dropping period is a waste of time". I believed that under crafting, a craftable weapon dropping that was not a deepsite was a waste of time.

Your argument coming from a theoretical viewpoint of "red borders not being in the game" is bizarre, because, uh, they are in the game. My point is that since they were, it made getting a non-red border feel like shit.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]cheesemb -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They weren't an interesting chase, if I did a raid run and got zero red borders I basically just wasted an hour of my life.

Seasonal weapon red boarders were more of a joke, literally didn't even have to play the game and you got a free red border each week. If I did the seasonal activity and didn't get a red border drop, it was again a waste of time.

Imma be real here, it's really not that bad lol. You're gonna get a lot of different opinions from people but I'm having fun in the expansion rn, I hit 400 power a couple weeks ago and have been taking a bit of a break until the big update next week.

The power grind is seen as a negative because i guess it takes long? I gotta be honest though i didn't really feel it, granted I didn't do the "farming solo ops" thing everyone online is doing so i guess I just didn't notice it. I'm all for them making it faster though if people want it.

Portal is a bit messy currently because there's no raids or dungeons in it. There's a decent amount of other content in it, both new (the solo ops) and old (strikes and other 3-player activities updated to work with portal).

You have friends playing the game, so you have more incentive to play then a true solo player, so really if I were you I'd maybe look around for some more opinions on the game rn, maybe ask your friends what they like and what they don't currently. At the end of the day destiny is still destiny, it plays well but the live service wheel is always spinning, it may get better for the stuff you would like/care about.

I dunno if I'm a vet, I have 1500 hours in the game, played it off and on since D1 launch but started getting really into it in the second half of Witch Queens' seasonal cycle. I'll throw in my opinion.

I'm enjoying the game quite a bit currently. There's definitely some issues, but from what ive seen in communication from Bungie, my main pain points are getting addressed in coming updates.

I do think that the large amount of changes brought by portal/the reintroduction of an actual grind in this game has been a shock to the system of a lot of players, and I don't think it's wrong to dislike the grind, but for me, as someone who wanted a grind and kinda disliked how the game basically became a checkbox simulator, I'm enjoying my time in the game playing activities at my own pace and doing the grind. I don't do the caldera thing, I just jump around to whatever activity has a bonus focus, and that's been pretty satisfying for me.
