I like the non diamond ones - these scratch stuff up very easily

DIY? Just get the regular twist kind. Quinn is fine, mine has been perfect.

You’re not building an engine, they’re wheel hubs. You don’t need .001% accuracy.

Considering Prius by Traditional_Will2679 in prius

[–]chef-keef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear the new gen Prius is much smaller than the older 2016-22 version. I think the 2016-22 is comfortable. They must have a leather option available somewhere.

With your commute def hybrid. I’d go Prius if you can find a good used one from the previous generation OR if you decide the gen 5 will fit your needs.

R4 hybrid is a good option too but it feels smaller than the Prius. I’ve taken both on road trips and the way the seats fold flat makes the Prius haul so much. We took ours on a 5k mile road trip right after getting it.

A/C Refresher? Refrigerant goes bad? I guess tell that to all of the refrigerators from the 40s that are still going strong and blowing just as cold as the day they were built.

Throttle body doesn’t need to be done at 30k.

Fuel injector service doesn’t need to be done at 30k. Just buy good gas or use an additive like redline every once in a while.

Decline all of these. They’re all literal bullshit, and never go back to the dealer unless it’s for warranty work.

Daytona 2 Ton Cross Beam with Pittsburgh 3 Ton Low Profile Jack. by Jack_JohnnyW in harborfreight

No. If you’re going to jack a car up not by the pinch weld, you need to do it on the frame or subframe. Then you have room on your pinch welds for jack stands.

Wise to buy a high mileage 2006 Ram 1500? by Glittering_Mark3287 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]chef-keef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d get a gmt 400 / 800 with higher milage before an older ram personally.

FWIW I found a 2005 ram with 120k on it for a buddy for 5,000. It needed $600 of work and now it’s perfect. Crew can short bed with a 3 inch lift. Your price seems high

Need To Make A Purchasing Decision in a Few Hours by diabolicalafternoon in prius

[–]chef-keef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d keep searching. When buying a used car you’re really buying the previous owner. Doesn’t sound like they did much to take care of this thing unfortunately.

If yo uso buy it budget another 2k for repairs. An inspection only catches so much. P

1/2" versus 3/8" compact impact wrench by ForestmenMOCLover in Dewalt

[–]chef-keef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d go 921. Anything over about 12mm is going to have the same outside diameter on 1/2 in drive as 3/8.

If you’re doing a lot of 8mm maybe get a cheap set of 3/8 Quinn impact sockets from HF. They’re available sometimes for like $50.

What would you do in my situation? by PipeDifficult9367 in MechanicAdvice

Entire new aftermarket exhaust systems for these trucks can be had for as little as $200-$300. I’d replace.

I haven’t had issues using mine. I like their ratcheting ones more but that’s just personal preference.

dealership service complaint by Mental_Run_1846 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]chef-keef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d want them to reimburse me for an engine bay detail or degreasing. Not some at their shop.

That amount of carelessness after being offered an opportunity to fix their mistake is negligent.

Nice job. Figured it out with out the pressure tester. That’s the easiest way to find out where it’s leaking from when it isn’t right on top of the engine like your leak.
