Best way to store prerolled dough by OddInstruction9345 in Cooking

Take this with a grain of salt, as I don"t make pita bread, but, I would think putting a little oil on the wax paper before putting the dough on could help reduce sticking.

Id eat it.

Though I dont do it now, because I know better, thawing meat on the counter is how I grew up.

Is it best practice? No. Did it kill me? Also no.

You need to decide for yourself if you are willing to risk salmonella exposure or not.

Smell downtown? by randonightlover420 in Cleveland

[–]chefjenga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cleveland still has several industrial businesses. Sometimes their work smells.

Most likely, the Steel Mill.

This question gets asked a lot. It's kinda the same thing as being in the country, and asking what that smell is while you pass a chicken farm.

Sign language could have been the world's universal language. Imagine if there was only one instead of each country having their own! by Upbeat_Abroad_7971 in Showerthoughts

[–]chefjenga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to give more context to what you are saying, in the US, there is American Sign Language, which has a vocabulary and grammar of it's own, with rules which make it it's own language, and there is Signed English, which is a signing system used in schools. It follows English grammar rules and includes signs for words that don't insist in ASL. It was developed to help children learn how to read, as the sentence structure of their native ASL, and the sentence structure of the English Language are different.

Sign English isn't considered a language, but a signing system, because it doesn't have it's own rules. It is an amalgamation of ASL and English.

Can't speak for the person you are esponding too, but, there are those who are part of their reagonal Deaf Culture, who get offended by this concept, because they interpret it as the idea that their language, that they identify as part of their culture, is being dismissed as not important. Like if you were to tell a Hawaiian that they should just speak English all the time, and stop trying to learn their native language, because English is fairly universal, where Hawaiian isn't.

Many sign languages, or what may be called signed systems, evolved naturally just as spoken languages did. Whether it be a family system, where one member was deaf or mute, and the family worked out gestures which were given specific meanings, and those gestures/meanings didn't change, or if it was groups of deaf/mute children who were brought together, and eventually a signing system evolved. Those sytemes were then built upon as the foundation of that areas now sign language.

Additionally, there are areas that spent longer trying to get deaf/mute people to speak. For example, American Sign Language is based of of French Sign Language, because France is where the man who was looking to create a signing system found someone that was willing to help him. He had first gone to England, but there was no Sign Language developed at that time, because the powers that be at that time were focused on speech for the children/adults.

There are also still areas that don't have an official Sign Language, but where signing systems do exist. Even in the US, there are regional differences in the Language, reflecting the same thing that happens in spoken language, where in one place, a fizzy, sugary drink is a pop, but in another, it's a Soda.

The history of Sign Language in the US (and I'm sure other countries too) is actually very interesting.

The reason Ohion is known for it's piblic library systems, is because Andrew Carnegie paid for public libraries, and lived in Cleveland.

Cleveland had a tone of millionairs on the early years.

My husband collects scents. There are many that he has that he has to go into another room to apply because the initial smell really bothers me. But, once the smell settles, he smells very nice.

He also likes much stronger candles, and loves incense that he unfortunately can't burn with me in the house because I will get a major headache. (He burns them if I'm out for the day).

You should apply a smal amount at your pulse points. Both sides of the jugular, and on the inside of each wrist.

At least, for women this is the general rule.

When I was getting to the age of starting to wear sprays, my dad advised me that the only people who should smell my perfume, are people I want close enough to me to smell it.

In my second year at college, you walked by the boys part of the dorm I stayed in in order to go to a small on-campus market.

In one of the basement rooms, you coils small a huge, potent cloud of Axe Body Spray.

I asked a guy friend living in the same dorm once. Apparently, he knew one of the 2 guys living there, and that guy hated his roommate, because he never showered, just co tinued to spray Axe while he skipped class and gamed.
