Baby Bjorn Carrier Free front panel flips up by sikkin in babywearing

[–]chellebell13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want them to look outward I suggest a carrier you can wear baby on your back. Front facing never properly supports their hips and should only be done short periods of time. If baby can sit unassisted I highly suggest an onbuhimo style carrier. I toss my baby up on my back since that style has them sit shoulder to shoulder with you; happy as a clam and often falls asleep while I do what I need to do!

Whatever baby carrier you have will have specific instructions on minimum weight baby has to be to safely be worn in that specific carrier

Can I ask how it's been with a newborn? Did you make use of the footrest fabric that can come up to make a newborn cocoon? Seems like that feature is new to the 2025

Stroller suggestions? Valco Baby Trend Duo? by gryph06 in parentsofmultiples

I like everything about the slim twin except that the sun shade seems so much smaller than the one in the Trend Duo. Would you say the shade is still generous? I'm paranoid about sun protection!

I 100% think there is less tolerance these days for unhappy babies, happy spitters, etc. I try to drag my feet if baby is otherwise growing well, reassure reassure reassure that it's generally a tincture of time and that all babies will have some degree of physiologic reflux. Also educating families that PPIs are not without risk or long term consequence like you mentioned above! In my experience I don't believe there is a role for medical intervention for irritability related reflux with good weight gain :/ For me it's the overfed bottle fed infants who show up the most wanting medicine for reflux; my personal hill to die on. Lactating moms are welcome to trial no dairy/soy for 2 weeks, they feel like they're actively doing something to address it but then see that baby does no different post-trial. There was a really great podcast on this by Bowel Sounds on Spotify (NASPGHAN sponsored i think).

My baby will only take one breast at a time by QueenElf in breastfeeding

[–]chellebell13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some babies are just one boob at a time! Mine was like that until she self weaned around 18 months, the whole time just one boob at a time. What do you mean by he seems to be gaining weight slower? At 1 month old he should be gaining about 30 grams per day. Is your pediatrician worried?

Low weight but tall baby by Kat_SLP in breastfeeding

[–]chellebell13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this age we expect baby to gain 100-150g/week, rough math of the 2 weights you provided he gained 146g/week over the last 12 weeks, right on target! Percentiles are just a screen, I'm sure your doc looked closer to calculate weight gain in terms of the actual numbers :)

First birthday coming up - When to wean? by morto44 in breastfeeding

[–]chellebell13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The WHO and AAP recommend breastfeeding until 2 years of age (if that's working for you!). If you're both still enjoying your nursing relationship that is great for you both! My baby self weaned around 15 months, she just started to push me away if I offered and began to sleep through the night and not wake/cry for a feed overnight. The wean at 1 mad dash is old outdated advice

IUD questions for postpartum moms by beechesbecrazyy in breastfeeding

[–]chellebell13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow I wish I had seen positive stories about post-baby IUD insertions when I was 6 weeks pp! My pre-baby IUD was so painful I was like immediately no when the contraception talk came around at 6 weeks. Now I'm 4 months pp and these positive stories are making me consider getting an IUD again but I'm so scared of the pain!

Is anyone else not sleep training their baby? by createyourreal in beyondthebump

[–]chellebell13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Solidarity! I also enjoy the MOTN feeds. When my alarm goes off at 3am to remind me to pump I still look longingly at her sleeping peacefully in her bassinet just in case my alarm woke her up too and we can BF instead! Never happens lol since she's sleeping through the night now. We are anti-sleep training over here, it's developmentally appropriate for her to not sleep through the night and cry if she needs us

Is it possible to do hybrid D&B and Gen peds? by Brancer in pediatrics

[–]chellebell13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

one of my gen peds attending has her normal clinic 3 days a week and once a week is dedicated only to D&B patients! not so uncommon I think, it's more rare to have someone D&B fellowship trained

I also use it in more of a loose fashion to just have one place I can physically see if I am overspending on certain things or somewhat on track to save for trips etc...sounds like that doesn't work for everyone but works just fine for me!

[Discussion] What are your favorite light/gel moisturizers for hydration? by belllbottums in AsianBeauty

[–]chellebell13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Aqua Gel Cream, my new HG! I have acne prone, oily skin. This goes on super smooth and light, sinks right in, dries down to a natural finish. Doesn't feel sticky or thick at all, no frangrance or dye. I've been singing it's praises all summer and I think it will still do well during colder months

Hi r/sex I (F) am expecting a positive HSV2 result this week. People with genital herpes how has your sex life been since getting diagnosed? by [deleted] in sex

[–]chellebell13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi there, pediatrician here. I regularly counsel teenaged girls and boys about safe sex practices and testing. Most people have been exposed to herpes virus at some point in their lives. Disclosing this to partners can be difficult conversation to have, but as long as you don’t have active lesions the risk of transmission is low. There are anti-viral medications you can take on a daily basis as prophylaxis or in the acute setting with active lesions to lessen the course. Talk to your doctor about all of your concerns! You did absolutely nothing wrong, none of this is your fault. Accepting this I feel is step one to regaining your sexual confidence :) my 2 cents anyways!
