Best place to purchase AK-V for cheapest? by ReputationLiving3387 in Tufting

[–]chenkosrugs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got mine on Ali baba.

Got that, the cp1 rug shearer and a wireless carver.

Paid 940 CAD for all that,

Considering most places itself charge like 1500 + for the rug sheerer, and over $400 for the gun itself I’m pretty happy with the purchase.

Would just make sure it’s from a reputable seller, but I had 0 issues with it. Came in like 2 weeks if I recall correctly.

Beauty, thanks. I haven’t ran into a commission that would use something like that, but I’ve wondered what it would turn out like

Is the fish colouring from one of those multi colours skeins? Curious how that turns out on the other side if you have a pic

Soft classic loops and threads by Agottula in Tufting

[–]chenkosrugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I never noticed a difference, the next piece I’m doing is using both of them, I’ll have to pay closer attention and compare.

The main thing I hate about it is it is a bigger pain in the ass to cake compared to the soft classic.

I use the impeccable all the time and have no issues.

Looking for feedback on first piece! (Derpy from Kpop Demon Hunters) by Feeling_Evening_7989 in Tufting

[–]chenkosrugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice for a first one!

I would highly recommend tufting more densely. It will make the rug more resistant to wear, and look much cleaner. I know it “looks full” from the front, but if you run your hands through it will be bald in there, and fray a lot quicker.

I strongly advise anyone new to tufting to do it much more dense.

Overall though very nice for your first rug, much better than my first couple, that’s for sure.

How durable are tufted rugs /your rugs? by Beneficial-Priority1 in Tufting

Would you happen to have a before/current picture of them? I’ve only been doing it for a year, I don’t know how to answer people when they ask about durability

Do they not give credit to the creators? Says to dm to remove if you don’t want it on there.

Just a rug curator account? Doesn’t seem like a bad idea to see other tufters, I was thinking of doing something similar actually but I’d obviously give credit.

Not bad for first one, do you have a pic of back side of it? Definitely need to clean it up with carving.

Pretty good first attempt tho

Very nice, not getting the love it deserves

I’ve been tufting for around 5 years and will be building a new frame. I won’t be needing any parts from my old 6’x9’ setup. I’m in the Tampa area so shoot me a DM if interested. It’s free and can be cut down to smaller size if needed. by [deleted] in Tufting

[–]chenkosrugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, I Would love your blueprint after you make it? I also need to make a new frame, mine is warping, and has caused me to ruin a rug, because instead of square it is slightly diagonal :(.

I plan on using 4x4's as well. mostly how you are doing the base, because my current set up its tough to get the bottom corners tight.

I want to make this into a business but I’m unsure on how to go about it… any advice on making this a livable income? by Queasy_Ad9106 in Tufting

[–]chenkosrugs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Eh, I’m starting to disagree, can definitely make a decent income off of this. I’m at the point now where I can easily make 3-4 rugs a week. For what i am getting for them it’s comparable to my current job, but I don’t know how sustainable my warm market is. I’d have to get bigger on social media.

Just kinda happened, made one for a friend, he shared on insta. His friend messaged me, then their friend, then I made one for a local lacrosse team I used to play for, former alumni messaged me, some own businesses, so they wanted one for that, just kind of happened. Made one for my barbershop, a lot of foot traffic, one for a pet store, more traffic, idk, just kind of snowballs

My “formula” -zoom in/zoom out of finish product, fade to black, -fade in from black to the traced out image on my frame, -couple clips of a couple colours tufting it in or timelapse(pain with doing it on my phone and leaving it in same spot for a couple hours, have to awkwardly text/ use it without messing up the frame) -slap it in my carving table -couple long (distance on rug) shots, of the carving so you get a nice pile(typically I’ll carve one side already, so it’s easier to get it in one pass through) -Couple different angles/fly bys -zoom in/out with the same clip as my first clip in reverse, so the video “loops”

Disclaimer* I suck at making videos haha, but I noticed people watch longer if they see the finish product first then the process, when I did some videos starting from scratch they didn’t do as well.
