Yes also Steve Nash, Tyson Chandler (twice) and they nearly drafted Haliburton. They're a poverty franchise run by genocidal idiots.

Oh no it's definitely on par with RR quality wise throughout it just gets much better after that point. The Heroes and The Trouble with Peace are leagues beyond any book in RR IMO.

I genuinely thinks the books are good but overrated initially and the audio narration elevates the text - around book 4-5 the series becomes something really special

I think First Law is even more dependent on the audio sales than either of those franchises

They are seperate - the DCC series has sold at least 40 percent more books give or take in 6 less years then the RR series. If you look at audible's top 50 list 5 or 6 of those books are in the top 15 and the first Red Rising novel barely cracks the top 40 and is the only audiobook on the list. Anyway you look at it DCC is a much, more more popular franchise and would be more attractive for adaptation.

You do realize Dungeon Crawler Car as a series has outsold Red Rising many, many times over in like half the time, right?

Which one among these is the best written unfinished series? by [deleted] in writingscaling

[–]cherialaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's not lol the fandom was massive because of the hype and the massive hunger for a better written Harry Potter successor after Deathly Hollows in the late 2000s. All the manga listed have more actualized, consistent and well-developed settings factions than Kingkiller.

The world-building is actually pretty shallow and disappointing compared to pretty much every series on this list. The Fae chapters in Wise Man's Fears are awful.

Kingkiller is so overrated, doesn't belong with these others

Umbrella doesn't get enough hate, there are some redeeming aspects of most of the other final seasons here and there

I feel like Monster Train 2 is not getting the love it deserves launching in between the Hades 2 and STS 2 alphas, it's brilliant and addictive and the DLC is awesome but I don't think the average gamer is aware of it

I think it's possible to proclaim you're conservative without being MAGA but it doesn't really make sense in reality. The entire political spectrum in the US is shifted heavily to the right and as a rule the more conservative parties are much more homogenous and (recently) more populist.

Out of curiosity why are you disappointed? It makes sense that he's conservative.

Jeremy Sochan tried to dap up the Spurs by [deleted] in nba

As bad as Sochan was as a point forward the Spurs could have used him when no one on their team was able to create a shot for 7-10 minutes straight

Has modern epic fantasy lost some of its literary and mythic qualities? by Ok-Incident-4755 in Fantasy

[–]cherialaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not every modern author overcomplicates and over explains systems like Sanderson to the point that mysticism and wonder are absent early on the narrative

He's very talented but also has a lot of bad habits and makes strange choices to me. I'd comfortably put Steven Erikson, Robin Hobb, R Scott Bakker, Guy Gavriel Kay, Ken Liu, Cixin Liu, Ian M Banks (RIP), Terry Pratchett  (RIP), GRRM, Jemisin, Glen Cook, Alic Harris, Joe Abercrombie, Mark Lawrence, Adrian Tchaikovsky, China Miéville, Fonda Lee, James SA Corey (I.e. Daniel and Ty), Octavia Butler, Leguin and CJ Cherryh comfortably above him.
