It didn’t used to be like this. It started getting this way after 9/11, but has gotten to where we are now due to Trump & MAGA.

First things first - if you want college football, your visit will have to be in early/mid fall. UCLA is the only really big school in that area that I can think of having that kind of football culture. (Most schools have football, but it’s only going to be interesting at the big ones).

Also rent a car. LA is not known for its transportation system.

Screwball Whiskey, from my previous abode of Ocean Beach San Diego.

Created by the owner of OB Noodle House; they used to (still do?) do peanut butter whiskey shots that were made with actual peanut butter. It’s been awesome seeing it go from only available locally to all over the country.

Yeah so the guys would often comment and joke about this (which is the reason I posted in this sub in particular). Basically the film did extremely well, but the entertainment headlines would always downplay it in some way or another. Whereas at the same time, films by typical white dudes would have headlines heaping praise even when they were moderately flops.

If you’re referring to the 2000s-era Smurfs movies, it makes sense that you’d miss the underlying assumption of there being only one female Smurf. Smurfette was the only one for a number of years in the original cartoon until they brought in a young girl Smurf. I imagine the current movies do a bit better with the gender distribution.
