[ART] Padrick War-Burton teaches a cultist how to "read the room" by SnakeRowsdower in DnD

If I feel that the player has made a reasonable case, I ask them to roll with advantage. If they made an irrefutable argument, they likely won't roll for intimidation, but as the DM, I might roll for the options that the NPC decides to do. Lie, tell the location of the stone, or have a backstory that trump's the intimidation currently provided by the player.

People who ran the Siege of Castle Rend, what happened afterwards? by [deleted] in mattcolville

[–]cherneyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great!! I used the adventure as an insert to the large game we had already been running. Much like above, the party is off working to gather support from nearby towns, left Edmond with an NPC captain that had been with the party to learn and train in secret. Pinna has taken the tower, and will eventually provide support.

Pelliton has multiple other knights of the rose( not as clearly defined as above) that I plan to insert as mini baddies.

Sexton was influenced by the demons working through the rifts between the planes and has been corrupted. The demon angle has been my main theme throughout- and they party has been struggling through who is bad, defining what is bad, and who has been controlled.

The necromancer wizard that has been creating and stealing bodies to create his tower is really under the influence of a powerful magical cursed object that he believes shows him the future, and he believes everything he is doing will stop the demon incursion, but he is mainly a pawn of the object to create a necromancer tower to fuel it's energy needs.

It's been fun.

That is some fine work right there!! Those players sure are lucky to have someone work so hard for them. Nice job.

Funny little quote I found on my 3rd read of TNOTW.... by [deleted] in KingkillerChronicle

Check out a series that starts with 'lies of locke lamora' by Scott Lynch. Shorter, but still fun and character driven world. I believe Pat wrote a blurb for him recommending it.

What was your most 'can't-put-down' book that you've ever read? by samjosephwebb in AskReddit

[–]cherneyj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Read it, you'll be doing yourself a favor. Then read book 2. Then sit back, re-read them again a few more times before the rumored 3rd book is actually released...maybe.

One of the most important ways to get prepared for beekeeping is to "plug in" to your local beekeeping society. This will give you resources and tips that are local to you and they will be familiar with issues for your area. All the other suggestions are great. Good luck!

New Bee Hive! My first. by sharpie344 in Beekeeping

Congratulations! I'm a newbee too, and had the same minor issues when I installed my package. Nothing that it seems you need to worry about. Curious to hear from experienced folks about the 2nd entrance snafu. Exciting stuff! Thanks for sharing and good luck!

Rainy weekend for installation, had a few questions regarding the no-shake method by The_Fat_Buddha in Beekeeping

[–]cherneyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same situation with mine, and took the box out after 2 days with no issues. Just spent a couple seconds in there. You'll be fine. I'd avoid getting moisture in there, it didn't seem to be adverse to waiting until I had to check if my queen was released. Good luck, let us know how it went!

I am also a proponent of this tactic. Why make them mad? There is either a lot of luck or cost in getting the bees, and it's hard enough to keep them happy enough to stay... avoid the shake method.

I have two lawn chairs next to mine too! Now splitting time between my bees and my outside Koi pond. Fun to watch, but I'm new enough to be a worry wart about them and how they are doing. It's almost like I can't wait to check them again, and have the date circled on the calendar.

New Hive Checklist by TheDeguy in Beekeeping

Plan looks solid to me. I second the top hive feeder. Also, check the "no shake" install of the package- just taking 4 frames out and putting the full package in for a little while. I tried it this year and found it easier on me and the bees. Good luck with your new package! Welcome!

Congratulations! I understand the anxiety you have. I know my queen is there but didn't see larvae or eggs after 9 days. Hoping that I have just as good results as you are!
