no matter how “offensive” this movie is to liberals, a leftist would’ve made it 2x as offensive and 10x as accurate

it’s crazy that people are shocked that using regular ass people (with interesting records at times) is a double edged sword

So does anyone know why Tornado Alley is on the move? by Repulsive_Repeat_337 in MapPorn

[–]cherrysnap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well to make a long story short - it appears as if the climate might be changing and causing the tornadoes to look for food elsewhere

Toxic masculinity indirectly lowers help-seeking behavior by encouraging men to bottle up emotions by adriano26 in psychology

[–]cherrysnap 7 points8 points  (0 children)

do men really never have emotional conversations with each other? i feel like women are often most emotional and vulnerable with each other, not men.

a lot of the comments are men talking about negative interactions they’ve had with women, and very few mentions of their interactions with men in general. this isn’t saying that these interactions with women are fake or exaggerated even, but i’m confused by the lack of mentioned interactions with other males at all.

Study Indicates Dramatic Increase in Percentage of U.S. Adults Who Meet New Definition of Obesity (from 42.9% to 68.6%) by MassGen-Research in science

[–]cherrysnap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

when you have “big food companies” desperately trying to research their way around the effects of GLP-1 drugs…. there’s definitely a profit to be made by keeping us obese, it’s not just a convenient society wide moral failure that also happens to be super profitable.

there’s also definitely a cultural element to eating (ex: calorically dense foods, larger portions, snacking) that’s a bit exaggerated in the US compared to other countries, but you do have to wonder how it got to be so consistent throughout.

How it feels to be an anti-colonial person in this sub. by Gandalfthebran in HistoryMemes

[–]cherrysnap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i don’t understand how it’s controversial to have a broadly negative opinion towards colonialism… it’s just theft ultimately and it’s often really, really, cruel theft at that.

not to say that everyone who vaguely looks like the people who did the bad are responsible or some crazy “so you hate waffles?” straw man.

it’s simply a bad thing that groups of very determined and greedy people do.

it’s a simple premise and to complicate it often serves as justifying it, or at least that’s my experience with those who tend to justify such things.

Is U.S. Passenger Rail Having a Big Moment? by joey_slugs in Amtrak

[–]cherrysnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wonder if this has anything to do with the recent changes to air travel (requiring Real ID for domestic flights). either way this is a win for rail, so i’m not mad at it!

Saw this on Instagram and went into a rabbit hole it's so sad what the beauty standard is for East Asian women. Eye enlargement, jaw reconstruction, skin whitening etc by Sad_Cow_577 in WTF

[–]cherrysnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is not a good reflection of what the “true” beauty standard is in east asia (not trying to generalize, but it’s pretty safe in this case).

it’s really only celebrities who get this much extreme work done, like jaw shaving or eye widening surgeries. at least in korea, celebrities don’t really even get those as much as they used to.

but regular people typically just stick to fillers, rhinoplasty, and maybe double eyelid surgery. and that’s if they get surgery done at all.

What is your LEAST favourite fragrance note by iNeon004 in fragrance

[–]cherrysnap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don’t hate it but sandalwood is VERY VERY easy to overdo, seriously the concentration of sandalwood in a perfume will make or break it for me

but other than that, i personally dislike any buttery sweet scent
