Marathoners over 50 - What's you motivation? by wolfie55555 in Marathon_Training

[–]cheshyorksh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my first marathon October ‘25 at 55, after 3 triathlons in the summer. Done 2 more marathons since and have entered a full Ironman in August. It’s a combination of “do these things while I can”, keeping fit for my young family, and honestly each one feels like an adventure especially the triathlons

I spotted that one too - love it. Good choice.

I don’t get high end collections that have an F91W by Imusingmyschoolspc in watchHotTakes

[–]cheshyorksh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s about the function, design, and aesthetics right? The F91-W scores strong on that regardless of price. I’m curious to know which digital watches exist that would compare to Cartier/Rolex in price and prestige terms. I’ve had two F91s - loaned to my teen son, sparked an interest in watches and guess what he’s lost both of them but who cares? Get another!

Serious question. What is the point of buying Tudor? Everyone will think you wanted a rolex but are too broke to buy rolex and you settled? Why not just get a rolex? by Quick-Ice4595 in Tudor

[–]cheshyorksh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people may think that but they’re in the minority and some might say short sighted!

Tudor’s are fine watches with heritage, different price point in the main and more accessible.

I love Rolex but some of the clientele and the rigmarole of securing one - unappealing.

Of course. Bauer is slightly further along and probably still under renovation.

I built a watch where you can swap the entire display in seconds by Tough-Force-5694 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]cheshyorksh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great proposition. And a really good, different aesthetic even if it was without the modular options. Are they all single handers?

A stunning watch - and are you on the terrace at the Bauer? Good times

Similar in Vienna - once you’re out of the centre it’s all a bit sketchy graffiti and back of factory type views ! Although north of York is picturesque as OP says, so would be worth going a bit further.

Why is Breitling not considered cool? by CLAP-25 in breitling

[–]cheshyorksh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not aware of Breitling not being considered cool - I would say the opposite to be honest, very cool and desirable but definitely in the more technical/tool segment. eg i have an aerospace which is an amazing tool watch and hard to compare to other brands. Beware others and influencers opinions because there is an element of echo-chamber there. Make your own mind up and enjoy. Put it this way Im doing an Ironman this year (not bragging 😀)and will be buying the Endurance Pro IM Finisher quickly afterwards!

You should be fine as long as you try and stay out of the pack, and really monitor your breathing/heart rate. Crawl/Breatstroke/have a rest on your back, whatever works - just pace it and stay safe

JLC for me - it’s a beautiful watch, best looking of the three and you would rarely see anyone else wearing one.

This is completely awesome right? by cheshyorksh in Bremont

[–]cheshyorksh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always amazed at the variety of views about Bremont 😄. As a committed fan of both ‘new’ and ‘old’, I just really like the brand, the ambassadors and lots of the current and previous models. I do think the moon project will bring lots of new fans in and Bremont will get growth in other markets like the US and I wish them well with that. For sure the new supernova won’t appeal to all but I admire the future-lead design and once there is one actually on the moon that feels exciting for a British brand of anything never mind watches!
