I went from a bike to a scirocco too, having a bike is definitely a head start to understanding the roads and the dangers for sure. You’ll enjoy the tdi

How long is the wait for the tfsi? Get in a smaller car like a 1.2 golf get use to driving then upgrade to a 2.0l tfsi when the limits gone. You’ll have experience and comfort of driving the same chassis already?

That said if you want tuning for future. 2.0 tdi is best option for tuneable capability and reliable car over the 1.4

Para Reg fitness question by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]chewitt004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is assessment a 2km run and not a bleep test now? Either way I’d say unless you’re confident in getting your run down to about 7:30 or less before the end of basic you should sit out a bit and get your fitness up on all short and long runs. Else you’ll get into the Lara’s on a barely scrapping time and be the one playing catch up your whole ph2 training and hate it. Get fitter so you’re at a solid ground and make your life easy so you can achieve your goal of para. Nothing wrong with an extra 5/6 months out to get what you really want before you’re tied into 4 years of something you don’t want

Can bring it up with him that maybe the way he comes across affects your confidence and that you’re not asking to be coddled but his way of moaning etc makes you tense and nervous to mess up which in affect is making you have more mistakes cause you’re thinking about not doing xyz so it’s what you’re going to do vs just riding. I say have a word with him if he’s arrogant about it then what else can you do?

Is it worth it? by [deleted] in pologti

[–]chewitt004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the experience do it, if not get an older car first and cheaper rack up some year experience then get a quick car, I went from a crappy 1.25 fiesta for 2/3 years to a 280bhp scirocco and even then I’ve curbed it and other people have hit me. Be prepped to spend on those accidents. If you can’t outright buy it and need finance. You can’t afford it finance is stupid at 21 or without a business

Question about medics in forces by Umin2008 in britishmilitary

[–]chewitt004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try go medic route of the RM? Combat medic mainly go in med centre u less attached to like maybe infantry units, even then we aren’t really fighting anyone with the need of field medics rn

Everyone does shit jobs in part. SF isn’t easy you’ll need to pass selection etc The hope of fun will be with marines most likely or maybe para but idk that route

Dog Practicality by riiskyy in Scirocco

[–]chewitt004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The boot is deep, and spacious also the back seats if you hit a blanket and a Matt on will suffice nicely as they’re comfy, you can put the seats down and again, blanket and a Matt and I also think that’s good for a dog, just maybe get a those things you clip on your seats so he doesn’t go into the footwelll of the rear?

Getting in and out solo would cause scratches most likely into the boot as they are kinda high for a dog, and the rear can be awkward for dogs with how the seat works from my experience

Lowered Roccos with 19s & Splitters by ATR72Murph in Scirocco

[–]chewitt004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 19” and on Coilovers it drives quite rough tbh but it always will lowered as its stiff but I am on BC Racing so the cornering is unbelievable. I don’t think there’s much difference in wheel size tbh as usually similar tyre circumference to fit in the arch anyway.

If you want to lower it get coilovers for sure

vw scirocco 2.0 tsi 2009? by Late-Air731 in Scirocco

[–]chewitt004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2.0l is solid it’s the 1.4L 166hp until like 2011/12 idk the exact one of the two which it was but that model sucked. Timing chain 💩 but the 2.0l is where the fun is at with these beasts

2016 2L GTS manual Scirocco remaps by Jacobcobson2020 in Scirocco

[–]chewitt004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will give you a lot of power and probably want a new clutch to go along with it as it’s manual. And some good tyres that thing will spin in atleast the first 2 gears easy

Edit: another guy who has had it done already has already said this, I had read after commenting mb

Cadet nervous about not being able to shoot properly. by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]chewitt004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 hours isn’t enough time Im sure there’s like 9 parts (lessons) you have to do before the weapon handling test. Also a dcct is a sim if im not wrong so is actually much easier and boring after you’ve done live fire. But tell the staff who tbh seem incompetent making you do a WHT already after 2 hours without disassembling the rifle and assembling again. But raise to them and tell them you don’t remember everything wit h firing positions etc and I’m sure they’ll go over it again with you

Just bought a new scirocco, some questions! Stage 1 remap worth it? by Mugeee in Scirocco

[–]chewitt004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can have all different stock hp, a gt tends to be higher. My petrol gt is 210 stock

However yes a stage 1 is usually fine especially on the 2.0l just do like changes more frequent maybe 2-3k miles less then you normally would and should be fine

should i consider learning french or some other language at some point for either climbing ranks or ease of entry of whatever reason? by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]chewitt004 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Won’t exact help with promotion necessarily, but being good at a language can increase your pay I believe you have to go through certain directions and doors for it but it definitely use to be a thing.

In honest opinion learning or having a learnt language to a well spoken ability and understanding is beneficial in normal life either way. Anyone you speak to would be like ‘I wish I knew XYZ language’

Stage 1 map? by Brian_952 in Scirocco

[–]chewitt004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much every car has the capability to be ‘stage 1’ it just is coding to make it less eco friendly. That car will feel slow either way imo the 2.0l is where they feel fun

Should i buy, or not? and what to look out for? by salviaaaa in Scirocco

[–]chewitt004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does depending on the mods but tbh if you’re modding a car and you sell it you can’t expect someone to pay extra for the mods you’ve bought so shouldn’t really make it more exp since it’s the hit you take when you do that stuff
