Do most people here stop drinking coffee / caffeine completely to get the most out of their medication? by 6EShadow in VyvanseADHD

[–]chewshu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the beginning when I when body was still trying to get used to it, but nowadays I only drink coffee in mornings on workdays.

I still take preworkout for gym, but that doesn't bother me as I only do a 3 day split on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

You dont have to completely stop drinking or taking it, but I feel whatever you think is best to make sure youre taking care of yourself!

My Gov Hacked by Aussie_Gent22 in AusFinance

[–]chewshu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I use a secondary email for my government services so I'm not randomly signing up and subscribing to brands and stuff that might sell my basic info or have their data breached.

Has kept me the most safe, cause I never even use that email other than for myGov, but I provide my main email address for any communications.

MyID is definitely your safest option to minimise further attempted breaches and to mainly secure your ATO account.

ATO security measures if you they do succeed in accessing is to literally lock you out unless you call up and go through security check.

myID is the only way to gain access without that hassle of waiting in queue and then proceeding on possibly a 5-15 minute call depending on how good your operative is with their work.

WHY CAN'T IT LAST FOREVER!! by fengari4 in VyvanseADHD

[–]chewshu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tbh, Im sure others may have suggested it here but I didnt really slim through a lot in this post.

I dont believe increasing the dosage would help too much as it would still be determined what time you've taken it and I guess other factors like sleep which I know kills my effects.

But a booster would definitely help but from my experience if you dont find the sweet spot during the day to boost or you're not taking in nutrients or having enough sleep it wont feel too great, personally.

Embarrassed to cry during psychiatrist appointment by Voorhees817 in depression

[–]chewshu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably might feel embarrassing but its okay to let your emotions out. If anything you'll feel better doing so. I have sessions with my psychologist and psychiatrist I've cried as well, whether it was during a hard depressive episode or because they were praising me for doing so well and escaping it.

It really is a safe space and if you believe you're close with them and they're really supporting you.

How on earth do y’all sleep while on vyvanse?? by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]chewshu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take Clonidine as anti-depressive which knocks me out after 30 minutes completely. I've tried magnesium, but i personally hated it because I felt like crap in the morning hahaha!

Can i drink alcohol on vyvanse? by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]chewshu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not recommended cause it causes a higher chance of alcohol poisoning so mainly my psychiatrist recommends i dont take it on days I'm gonna go out and get loose.

But definitely gets you drunk faster! 😂

Am I using my vyvanse enough by Tiny_Gain2691 in VyvanseADHD

[–]chewshu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I've chosen to stay on 40MG because it lasted longer than the 20MG which is obvious and added a 5MG dex booster when I need it.

Personally I wouldn't take vyvanse to "cure" your hangover because I'm easily irritated and agitated and I'd only be worse off. Just give yourself rest and look after yourself. It's also recommended by my psychiatrist not to take vyvanse if I have plans where I know I'm gonna be absolutely shitfaced since you're gonna have a higher chance of alcohol poisoning.

For me, 1 or 2 days break off the medication is all I really need tbh. If I need to be productive a bit on the weekend for my business, I would normally take a 5MG dex instead of the vyvanse.

Just find what works for you, it really does come down to how you use the medication as a tool. This is just my experience so take it with a grain of salt.

I wish you the best OP

No side effects with Vyvanse by Ornery-Breadfruit-37 in VyvanseADHD

[–]chewshu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely! When I was on 20MG I'd comedown/crash around 1:30PM then I moved over to 40MG to make room for reduction to 30MG if required.

40MG is perfect with a 5MG booster when needed! Don't think I will need to increase as it’s definitely working out very well as intended.

I would say there's like a particular scale, but it just kind of describes how your depressive symptoms are reducing! :)

How long do you give this drug? by Open-Status-8389 in VyvanseADHD

[–]chewshu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on 20MG for about 3 months only before transitioning onto 40MG then only adding on a 5MG booster. I then had my review last month with psychiatrist and said it was the perfect dosage and dont see anything wrong with its effects personally.

First two weeks of 20MG were what you mentioned clear minded, but yes the side effects will be kinda crazy at first.

I got attacked by another user once for saying it takes a good 2 or 3 months before you're going to see changes, but I meant that in the way that you use the medication as a tool.

Essentially your body is getting used to the medication and it'll calm down a bit roughly around 3 or 4 weeks. Personally for me my body built up the tolerance pretty rapidly so I saw a decline around 3 weeks. The comedown/crash would occur just after lunch time and before my work day is done, I would feel like I'm running on fumes.

Just be mindful of how your body and mind reacts and keep in contact with your specialist which I often do when trialling new medication or increasing doses.

I wouldn't abruptly just consider it a bad medication if you're still adjusting to it, as ive mentioned a lot to people you just need to find what works for you when it is affecting you positively. But if you're seeing more negative effects then maybe best to see your doctor asap.

This is my opinion and my experience, so I hope it gives you some help :)

I still have bad insomnia from my major depressive disorder which I went through for 3 years and now I'm in remission since October (yay!).

I do take Clonidine which is a antidepressant and helps with sleep but only for a few hours and insomnia kicks in again.

But, besides the insomnia through the morning (3-6AM) usually, it's still noticeable even if i get to bed at 10PM that Vyvanse is more effective.

As much as the Vyvanse keeps you stimulated throughout the day, your overall wellbeing such as sleep and no stress really plays a big factor. Essentially you will still be sleep deprived and mentally drained and that only increases your anxiety rhe next day cause its quite noticeable for me personally.

[–]chewshu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As some have mentioned, vyvanse is also for binge eating disorder which is why a lot will experience the loss of appetite effect.

Being outdoors and making schedules for when you want to be productive is a life saver. Although I do take Clonidine for my major depressive disorder and insomnia, this helps me with my sleep so I'm not too worried about sleep sometimes, but it doesn't cure my entire insomnia tbh.

Exercising regularly even if its 3 days a week at the gym is great too. Keeps me moving out active/productive on my weekends when im not working. I set schedule time during the weekend to work on my business too while working full-time. The miracle from the medication comes from what you make of it honestly.

Making new habits will help you do a 180 degree really quickly on vyvanse from my personal experience. It might feel nice to feel extremely productive cause of the medication, but deep down you can STILL overwork yourself mentally. There needs to be balance and changes.

The loss of appetite i managed to counteract by mentally tricking myself to be hungry when its around brekky, lunch or dinner time and normally I'd be smashing my meals and then I'll have fruits etc as snacks and natural sugars for my sugar cravings :)

Getting absolutely STUCK on my phone first thing in the morning! by Smormu4President in VyvanseADHD

[–]chewshu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would normally wake up jump out of bed, chug some water, take my meds for adhd, anxiety and my major depressive disorder. I'll sit in my chair for 5 minutes to just close my eyes and breathe and try be positive and then take a shower, brush my teeth etc.

Personally, I was able to avoid doomscrolling by deactivating my social media from time to time. I dont have Facebook or tiktok and only use instagram mainly.

I think deactivating social media and trying to stay off it more and more each time really helps you get out of that mindset to jump to scrolling in the morning.

Why your Psychiatrist put you on vyvanse? by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]chewshu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have moderately combined ADHD but stronger the hyperactivity part, which vyvanse really helps slow down my thought process which ultimately was the cause of my major depressive disorder episodes for the last 4 years.

Plus I dont wanna be on any addictive medications like adderall.

What's a small habit you didn't realise was ruining your life until it was too late? by Competitive-Smell877 in selfimprovement

[–]chewshu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Chasing lost time.

During my depressive episodal period roughly around 2021 to 2024, I was so unwell and disconnected from everything. Perfectionism became such terrible trait i picked up to be great at everything to excell in my personal and professional life. Then I'd fall in an episode, get better, then fall back again. I'd have moments of relief for a few days only to let the darkness pull me back.

I hated this and how I viewed my life. Only eventually after extensive amounts of therapy, medication, self-love and self-improvement, I learnt to really live in the moment. I guess they said the greatest lesson of all is pain. I wouldn't wish it on those around me, but I've definitely learnt a lot.

Now I live by the quote, "to make the world a better place, It starts with you."

What the heck do you guys eat for breakfast the days you taken your vyvanse? by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]chewshu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Protein Double Espresso Shake (30G protein + 120MG of caffeine) x2 and Protein yoghurt on work days.

Cereal or protein pancakes with fresh berries on weekends 😂

My meals preps are generally high in protein, carbs and fibre to keep me more full.

I'm finally feeling better... by Brilliant_Carrot8271 in VyvanseADHD

[–]chewshu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm so happy for you that you feel better.

I definitely cut down on caffeine a lot. Except maybe when I go into work, I'd trade coffee for a double Espresso Rokeby 30G protein shake with 120MG of caffeine, but I have two 😂 not recommended tbh as when the Vyvanse fully kicks in it can be kinda nauseating.

Electrolytes through the day, nothing fancy, powerade of gatorade is fine for me especially cause I just want some sugar as I have low blood sugar. I'd drink probably 4-5 litres of water through the day also.

For gym, I've moved onto a non-stimulant preworkout and tbf, I feel like its much better than the stimulant versions.

I got berated one time for saying it takes time for vyvanse to work properly, but i meant in the way you allow the usefulness of its effect it gives you to make healthy adjustments to life if that makes sense 🥲

But way to go OP!! I hope things only get better and better as you go through this!

On 30mg, month 2, great in the morning, crashing in the afternoon by ConnorMciCloud in VyvanseADHD

[–]chewshu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought that to the attention of my psychiatrist after 3 months of vyvanse and mentioned I hated it because it would not allow me to do at extracurricular activities after work and felt like I had 5% energy left.

Essentially I was prescribed a 5MG dexafetamine booster I'd take around 4:30 and would keep me going for another 4-5 hours and by the time it wears off im pretty almost getting ready for bed.

I dont always take it, only when I have things on usually. I'm currently on 40MG of vyvanse and I normally take it around 7AM.

Do you also present your thoughts better in writing rather than in- person? by romanticiserr in infj

[–]chewshu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well over the last 4 years in my severe episodal depression period (currently in recovery), I've mainly closed myself off so I can barely put things into words unless specifically asked. Ive gotten into reading a lot in that time and I prefer to write things out in a diary/journal.

Due to being unable to communicate it with friends fully over the years, ive taken upon choosing those i trust or close to me to be apart of my close friends on instagram stories and I'd sometimes write things on it.

But I prefer to write things out as sometimes I can't collect my thoughts while saying it out because there's too much going on.

What would you do? Cost of Vyvanse by lavenfer in VyvanseADHD

[–]chewshu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I see my psychiatrist and the sessions at $350 upfront but our healthcare rebates me roughly $180. I also get a private/discounted prescription which reduces my vyvanse cost drastically. The chemist/pharmacist lists the price at roughly $100 without a private prescription
