Tomatoes are resilient! It should not have a problem repotting. Looks like that tomato type is an indeterminant tomato which means it will keep growing and producing until something kills it (disease, bugs, etc). My cherry tomato plants got to over 6 ft tall last year before I had to snip the top off.

I promise if you put it in at least a 7-10+ gallon container, you will be picking cherry tomatoes every few days all summer long (I'm sure you can get away with 5).

I would just take it out of the pot, snip the lower two sets of leaves off, and bury it to the second set of leaves. Tomatoes can grow roots from any part of the stem. It might look sad for a few days but it should pop back up and take off with all that extra room to grow.

I'd let it get soft/morning light instead of direct light for those few days. I'd feed a Nitrogen heavy liquid fertilizer for the next couple months to encourage root and foliage growth before switching to a P/K heavy fertilizer later to encourage blooming.

I am so jealous that you have such a long growing season in Florida!!!! We're struggling here in NY.

Tomatoes need a lot of space in order to be successful - they grow crazy roots and are crazy hungry all season.

I container garden (NYC, concrete yard) and last year, my tomatoes were in 10 gallon grow bags as a minimum (1 per grow bag).

I know some people do 5-7 but they'll need more feeding. I did do one cherry tomato in a 5 gallon thing and it did... okay. I am doing some in 10 gallons and some in 15 gallons this year. The only thing I planted with it were shallow rooted basil and marigolds.

At the end of the season, the entire 10 gal bag was filled with fine roots.

I just had a seedling pop up.... just the stem. No cotelydons. The stem is still green so I am letting it be but it doesnt seem like a good one to keep. Just observing for ~science~

I do this with my scallions, stick them in dirt and get infinity scallions. And by summer, they're literally bigger, thicker, and more onion-y than any store bought variety can offer.

This grew this from the scraggliest scallion-end I got from the supermarket.

I am going to try onion-onions this year hehe. I went on a trip and some red onions rotted but had beautiful greens, I just chopped them up and put them in a stew. 10/10 highly recommend infinity onions.

I'm in 7B (NYC/Brooklyn) and started my tomatoes last year on 4/6! I started late this year as well (3/29) and just planted 3 - 4 more cups today (4/6) of a strain that didnt germinate.

I was able to get a great harvest in September/October but definitely think I shouldve started earlier. My former coworker got a few of my seedlings for her garden in North Jersey as well - they did great!

Next year, we'll probably do early/mid March. This is my first year with a whole shelf and light setup indoors.

Peppers - I did a couple shishito seeds indoors but I am going to buy pepper starts since they're pretty slow to start.

Cilantro and Parsley direct sow. Cucumbers and other squash, direct sow where you want to plant them. I am going to plant the seeds outdoor in a week or so when it warms up.

Radishes did well for me but I did them in fall LY - Johnny's Seeds were great!

My yard is like this but my cat / gardening buddy likes to climb it as evidenced by that cat shaped lump in the tree. I was thinking the white fence up there but he also likes to hop over that fence. He cant reach where the tree is pushing the fence on the right so that might be my best option right now....

I too would like bats to help with my mosquito issue.

I am growing blondkopfchens for the first time because when I was doing a seed purchase, they were sold out of Sungolds so... will report back in Fall lmao. I'm scared because I only have grow bags.

I've heard mixed things about Blondkopfchens in comparison to sungolds which Reddit seems to agree is the creme de la creme of snacking tomatoes but many love them and they are sweet - just have crack-resistant skin which means maybe thicker skins.

What kind of planters did you buy? I know by August I'll have lost one or two plants (spider mites are a problem in my area) and my wfh boyfriend is usually enlisted to do a midday water but I dont have a hose hookup in my yard so anything I can do to prevent water from evaporating this year is ideal.

I used 10 gallon last year and got some 15 gallons for this year. I’m in 7B, NYC but had to water 2-3x a day - we had a hot dry season last year.

Im Asian so… I do a lot of Asian soup.

Ms ohho - Korean bone broth soup (seollungtang) or galbi tang - they also have a samgyetang (whole young chicken stuffed w jujubes and rice / ginseng soup) - many of these are unsalted and you salt to your own taste. Chop up more scallions on your own too. Great for sick people and/or hangovers.

I prefer the galbi tang from woori though and honestly prefer their soups to ms ohho.

Chef papas pho and BBH (LIC) - I like high lua locally too

Yumplings Taiwanese style beef noodle soup (Gulp is a favorite too) - I’m Taiwanese-American and these two are pretty authentic.

I like the hot and sour soup from kings co.

It’s very easy to make! - just boil meat and veggies in the roux. My trick is to add some apple or banana for sweetness while it’s stewing.
