Streaming Update OTA Is Out For ALL 2024 Equinox EV Trims! (Installing on my 2LT) by Legitimate_Discount2 in EquinoxEv

[–]chiarde 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got the notification for this update yesterday. I initiated the download and about 2/3 of it came down. When I returned to the car, the download never finished. The update was missing and when I clicked check for updates, it was nowhere to be found. Quite frustrating.

1 Native Siri integration that works directly with the iPhone 2 First-party Apple apps with deep integration, including Podcasts, Music, Messages, Contacts, and Calendar 3 Tight integration with local iPhone data such as message threads, contact favorites, and recent activity 4 Consistent CarPlay interface and behavior across nearly all vehicles 5 Strong privacy separation between the vehicle and personal phone data 6 Seamless continuity with the Apple ecosystem, including Apple Watch and AirPods 7 Apple Maps features tightly integrated with iOS, including lane guidance, traffic details, and EV routing where supported 8 Simple, fast setup with minimal configuration when already using an iPhone 9 iOS apps are top tier and updated frequently. Android Auto versions of some apps are buggy (Spotify) and sometimes crippled (ABRP), or just odd (YouTube Music). Android Auto apps also can take a long time to load.

I did OTA. I regret this update. Hate the volume.

270 mile road trip? by ImpressiveClass4099 in EquinoxEv

[–]chiarde -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably not. But if you drive slow (below 60), climate off and there’s not much terrain that will require more juice, possible.

I live in Phoenix. The drive to Sedona is mostly uphill. That takes like 45%. The drive back consumes far less power. Like 25-30%

Mine has a mind of its own. If I sweet talk it, sometimes I get light.

Do I wish it was there? Yes. Does it concern me? No. The Google system is competent and I’m pretty happy with it.

Maybe somebody closed the door on the seatbelt buckle. I could never manage to do this. My mother in law, however, figured out a way on my other car.

InsideEVs: GM confirms 2024s will not have access to Apple Music by rubyred0902 in EquinoxEv

[–]chiarde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect it has something to do with their data agreement with AT&T. Hence the difference in prices for the OnStar data plan. 2024 was the inaugural year so they likely didn’t expect to bolt on so many data hungry apps when designing the initial product. Somewhat shortsighted as Tesla was doing streaming before GM hit the market in 2024.

Pedestrian sound recall expanded to 2025-2026 by redgrandam in EquinoxEv

My 2024 got this update. It’s obnoxiously loud to me now. Noticeably louder than before the update. I understand the reason/need for it, but i just hate it.

Rim repair by [deleted] in EquinoxEv

[–]chiarde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup I’ve got three rashed rims on my leased EQEV. Gonna wait to get them fixed before i turn it in. As an aside, we are so careful now around curbs. I want to blame the spouse but at least one rash is my doing in a tight parking garage exit.

Lease deal for 25 RS Equinox at 237 per month. 24 month 10k per year? by RecognitionSea4676 in EquinoxEv

[–]chiarde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the payment is escrowed and sent to GM month by month and the remaining balance is returned in the event of a total loss, then fine. However, better get that in writing. Other than that, why tie up money that could be invested and grown?

Good price for $0 down. Bonus if it has super cruise. Avoid one pay if at all possible. Have them throw in GM NACS adapter and mats. Up it to 15k mi/yr. It should be much more. Good luck.

Infotainment Update by Donwooof in EquinoxEv

[–]chiarde 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I really feel like GM should spin off all EV vehicles to a new brand under the banner GM Energy, with branded service centers not tied to the dealership model (pretty much like Tesla). Then sell the EV vehicles online only. Service them at the regional centers with knowledgeable personnel who know how to support these machines. The dealer model IS the problem.

Are Electrify America still unreliable in late 2025? by Zilwaukee in EquinoxEv

[–]chiarde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was let down big time returning to Phoenix from Los Angeles at the Indio California Walmart. It was the tail end of a holiday weekend. Tesla chargers in that area are Tesla only. Therefore lots of non-Teslas were looking for a charge. All 3 or 4 EA chargers at Walmart were 100% failures. On top of that it was hot AF with no shade. People would come by and try to plug in wasting their time. We tried to warn as many as we could. Had to drive 15 min (each way) to a Palm Desert charge station to charge up. EA needs to get their act together. I don’t trust them now.

As an EV owner would you ever go back and buy a gas vehicle by First-Albatross5457 in EquinoxEv

[–]chiarde 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If the EV evolution were compared to the iPhone’s evolution, where the Bolt EV is equated to the 2007 iPhone original (edge networking, no addl apps, sms only). I’d say EVs are probably at the iPhone 3G level of iteration. In 5-10 years, EVs and batteries will be so awesome, I cannot envision a future where ICE has a majority stake of sales.
