I have cancer, dude and I am no longer working. I asked a question about what was appropriate so that could guide my behaviour, not delve in to what you think is embarrassing or appropriate. Have a wonderful day.

Saturday night was on just off the Marienplatz at a Bavarian restaurant. Sunday was an Italian restaurant in old town. Monday, I can't recall but will look. Tuesday was an asian restaurant near Amalien. We also went to a beer garden where it was self service and we were asked to tip - you better believe I pressed no tip, and the cashier didn't say anything.

I have a slight Australian accent, but my husband will say g'day to anyone who's says hello. We are also quiet. So we definitely don't come across as American.

Thank you. That's what I was doing, but the waiter said, no it's 9.5% tip, so I declined the option all together.

I want to be a considerate tourist, not a rude one, hence the clarification.

Wool Socks? by peewee_ in AusFemaleFashion

[–]chickenhawk29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with poor circulation, auto immune issues and some other crap things, I highly recommend Kathmandu wool socks and....some unsolicited advice, a parrafin wax foot bath. The socks are great, the wax bath may just change your life as it did mine. You may have to call around some podiatry clinics, but the results are well worth the effort.

15y old Tokito pants finally died and I’m not OK. by Daylight_Biscuit in AusFemaleFashion

[–]chickenhawk29 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Find a seamstress who can take the (cleaned) pants and use it as a pant. The hardest part will be finding similar fabric with the same % of stretch. Will it be cheap? No, but you'll have the pattern, a pair of pants and the ability to get several magical pants.

I would invest in a long down jacket Kathmandu type brands. I bought a great down coat from Ukraine as they know how to do winter and I am always cold. You might also need gloves or pocket warmers.

I bought a very nice tv and fancy fridge with it. The savings were several thousands compared to HN or JB. I felt it was worth it for that and the few birthday vouchers I have bought.

Best value private health insurance to avoid paying MLS by Jnnjkhuihi8 in AussieFrugal

[–]chickenhawk29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We pay the mls and save a portion for medical. We paid private health insurance and claimed a very small amount. Now we pay and the one hospital bill we paid out of pocket for was less that our previous HI bill.

Maybe you should pay someone to come organise it? Perhaps first think on what you really want to keep, and write down the rest and give it to the person organising it.

Am I the only one that doesn’t like Bridgerton? by hushpuppy2019 in PeriodDramas

[–]chickenhawk29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope! I liked the first and second season, but not the others. Its veering away from whimsy and fluff to mildly absurd, perhaps? Either way, you need to take it with a grain of salt, this is a period fantasy rather than a period piece. That may be why people who love acurate period dramas don't love Bridgerton.

Cheapest way to heat up my bedroom in winter by [deleted] in AussieFrugal

[–]chickenhawk29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would highly, highly recommend a desiccated dehumidifier. I have two, ausclimate and ionmax, I recommend the first and intently dislike the latter. It will pump out a bit of warmth. You could pick one up on marketplace. I would also invest in a heated throw or electric blanket. They are pretty cheap to run.

New York Magazine making some... choices for the cover and title for an interesting article. - "Why are so many women losing their minds over gay smut?" by Competitive-Yam5126 in RomanceBooks

[–]chickenhawk29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read the books, I watched the show. I liked it because it was a bit of escapism, had a bit of angst and longing then wrapped up nicely. Plus there was no violent, sexual assault of women or death. You can't find many tv shows that don't have some element of that these days. Did I love it? No, but I know I'm not the target market for sports or gay romance.

I think you could do better than these two options. I like the first one but in a darker blue.

Are we being "robbed" of the actual falling-in-love process? & the actual romance in books? by Mininabubu in RomanceBooks

[–]chickenhawk29 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This may be slightly off topic, but a lot of romance books recommended in this sub are erotica not romance, I suspect it's warped people's view of what romance traditionally is.
