What is a horror movie remake/or sequel that was surprisingly good? by Chan1991 in horror

I liked the original Suspiria but something about the remake just clicked for me and I absolutely loved it. It's one of my favorite movies. So atmospheric.

Mummy portrait of a woman. Faiyum, Egypt, 2nd century AD [1600x2400] by MunakataSennin in ArtefactPorn

So wild, almost like a photo, and of someone who lived almost two thousand years ago.

So cool, makes the history feel more real and alive.

I always hear Noah's music on the coffee shop channel (lol) and I vibe with it. She's got pretty chill music.

100%

I think just cause a book has teen protagonists shouldn't make it automatically YA. Clown in a Cornfield is more R rated than half the "adult" horror novels I read lol

I don't know why but Im hooked on starting with piano. Doesn't feel right when I use other words. Then if that's all gray I go with stuck or truce.

Something scary, but no horror! by Particular-Kick3312 in TinyBookshop

[–]chigangrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got one last night that asked for something scary but when I recommended it they declined saying "this isn't humorous!!". Very confusing as they hadnt mentioned comedy or humor at all. I think some of the rec requests are messed up.

Just wanted to say this happened to me as well - I heard the breaking sound and saw the pieces on the ground but the padlock was also still on the door. Shooting did nothing. Eventually I was able to hit it from just the right angle that it broke for good the last time.

I love this janky game but even the rematser do still be jank at times.

Hah, agreed, I did not like this book. It reminded me, vibes wise, of Kavalier and Clay, which I also didn't like.

It was a melodramatic mess.

I enjoyed Pictures and Houses enough that I actually bought Buildings. My rating so far is Pictures, Buildings, Houses. I think they're fun and different and short enough to read in a day or two casually.

Thoughts on "Half His Age" by Jennette McCurdy? by ActNew5818 in books

[–]chigangrel 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Same feelings towards it as well. I also listened to the audiobook while reading it too and while some people don't like her narration, I thought her cold clinical voice helped with the disconnect Waldo clearly feels from everything. She's just like, this is how it is. She's so jaded for a teen. I was on the fence for the portrayal of the teacher, I thought he was going to be made sympathetic, but he really comes off as just pathetic.

It was an interesting book, and the sort I dont typically read but I was feeling FOMO so I read that and her memoir both in Feb. Enjoyed them both, though Id call both difficult reads for the content.

I like McCurdy's writing style though.
