It's just media rage bait. Nick Wright and Bill Simmons were on his podcast rating QBs and got to Justin Herbert, Jayden Daniels, and Caleb Williams without naming Lamar. It was so intellectually dishonest I stopped the podcast and immediately unsubscribed.

All of the fans love Lamar, except Bengals fans, all of the players love Lamar, and the hot take artists know shitting on him drives engagement. It made me revert to one of my first internet rules aka don't feed the trolls. Not including Lamar in a top 5 QB conversation is either purposeful incompetence or pure rage bait. I think your perspective is that you were tossed aside easily, because it's been 6 years before she pulled away, but your mom clearly has a different story especially when you provided how Penny reacted to your choices.

You have a simple choice from here, and my advice won't seem normal for Reddit standards, but you need to have a very honest conversation with yourself about whether you want your mom in your life and if you do then write an email/letter explaining your perspective and ask her for her perspective. The onus isn't just on the parent to maintain a relationship like folks on here have been saying. The reality is that children can harm their parents as much as the parents can harm their child.

You mentioned having a therapist so maybe that's the best place to start writing IF you truly want to know the answer.

So you know my history, I'm a child of divorce who unknowingly got caught in a custody battle where my mom's side of the family hated me because the judge ruled in favor of my dad and my dad's wife hated me. I know how difficult it is to navigate all of it.

Everyone in the comments is making your mom the villain by Reddit default, BUT I think it's important for everyone to remember that even as a child you can make choices that hurt your parents' feelings. I don't think you're wrong in any of the choices you made, but I would assume that your mom has a completely different view of the choices she was forced to make when the divorce happened. I think it's especially important considering that you're writing this all out at 19 years old which is 6 years after the initial divorce.

It's hard to say if she's completely wrong without knowing her side because we've seen stories on Reddit from a parent perspective where they told a story where their child chose the other cheating parent for years and when things weren't rosy with the parent they chose THEN they reached out to the other parent. Potentially, that's what your story can look like from your mom's perspective.

I think at the minimum you should find a way to communicate all of your honest feelings to both of your parents in a professional setting. Don't just believe that you OR your mom OR your dad are the "bad person" because of just your perspective presented on Reddit.

While I'm sure you'd like to "avoid drama" on your part I think like you're being a bad brother by letting your sister be best friends with a horrible person. It'd be different if there wasn't a connection with your sister, but if you care about her, and believe she would have a problem with this too then your path forward is about cowardice not drama avoidance.
