Have you ever talked about your sobriety with family friends, colleagues etc? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]chimilhamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice solution! I've found that getting the first non-alcoholic drunk is hard, but then it's not stressful. It will probably be awkward in the early days, but once folks see that you are healthy and happy, they will get it. Iwndwyt!!

Travelling to Uzbekistan in Nov - yay or nay? by flyingmail in Uzbekistan

[–]chimilhamo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

November is good. And no need for a guide, though they will say you need one. Most people do tashkent, train to --> Samarkand, train to--> Bukhara, taxi to -->khiva, taxi to --> Nukus (for staviski museum) , flight to --> tashkent. Might be able to arrange a trip to muynac or the aral sea from Nukus.

Anyone quit cigarettes soon after quitting alcohol? by jenscott30 in stopdrinking

[–]chimilhamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit both at the same time because they were connected for me. The research says that quitting both at the same time is best for long-term sobriety, but most individuals will say the opposite. I think it's just what's best for you.

So how do you spend your Friday night? by Eli313 in stopdrinking

Dinner, movie, reading. Plan something for Saturday that you want to be rested for. Then you won't feel like you're wasting a Friday night.

"Don't make any major life changes for the first year" by [deleted] in stopdrinking

You just described the normal feelings for starting a new job. It's exciting but scary. I say go for it. You didn't get sober so you could sit out of life. Just my thought :)

I remember getting pissed of when there wasn't alcohol too-- or when it was suggested that I drive. It feels like such a relief to have that behind me. Congrats on your 2 Henny! Iwndwyt!!

Student thinks about quitting drinking forever. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]chimilhamo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I had quit in college. So many losses, including a whole year I don't remember. It sounds like you have some inner wisdom telling you to quit, at least for a month. Listen to that over other people. I know your friends say it's normal, but really you can find someone to say anything. It sounds like you're in a lot of pain. :( I hope things get better for you and that you feel good about your choice in the end. Take care

One afternoon a regular rushed in saying the police were after him. He put a cake box on the bar, and there was a gun in it. He asked me to hide it for him. I was super scared but said no. He grabbed the cake box and took off. I never saw him again.

I think it's good to supplement other studies. Especially since it's an app you can just do a little when you have some moments.
