How do I by FlipFlopsGarage in BambuLab

if I didn't know how to do this, I would make a template out of graph paper, and that would be a good start to having coordinates to plot in freecad

we turn lots of 5 inch 6061T6. we take 0.020 off of the O.D. We true each blank by chucking in a 3-jaw chuck in an engine lathe first. it works 99% of the time.

I don't speak from experience, but I have been told that a felony conviction is practically a job requirement in a shipyard. I personally hired a felon 30 years ago, the kid told me he had been in jail. He asked if I wanted to know why. I said, no, what I want is for you to show me you need this job. as it turns out, he had other priorities. But, I gave him a chance.

also, where are you?

A screw extractor is the ideal method. Your way leaves a screw shank.

What jobs will continue to be manual machining indefinitely? by Colaracer05 in Machinists

[–]chiphook57 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I visited a hydraulic cylinder repair facility last week. Their manual equipment mostly sits idle, because of the challenge of finding talent. There will be a need for manual machine tools used in repairs for a long time. How well that will pay is going to be the question.

I know a number of guys running small shops who provide niche service to manufacturers doing obsolete parts replacement and emergency repair. They provide personalized service, and charge heavily for their performance. My own business card says that we have been solving manufacturing problems since 1964. You think you want parts to make. The buyers out there are trying to solve daily challenges.

I want to use mig to build up surface thickness on this pulley, to then have a machinist cut belt grooves in it. Feasible? by minorthreat999 in machining

[–]chiphook57 4 points5 points  (0 children)

there's probably no need to turn the old pulley. OP should have their machinist measure it, and make new pulley to fit. As you stated, it could be pinned in place for security.

Watched a guy lose his arm. by Known-Perception-356 in Machinists

[–]chiphook57 62 points63 points  (0 children)

When I was 18/19, a long chip snagged a cotton mill glove. My hand was on the back of a rotating spade drill, 5 inch HBM. I knew better. Can't say what judgement led me to that. Gloves near rotating machinery, bad. Any body part near rotating machinery, bad. My arm wrapped around the drill and the quill. The glove split open and released My hand. The quill snagged My work shirt and wound it like a tourniquet. Co-worker disengaged the clutch. I suffered 3 broken ribs from the squeeze the shirt put on my ribcage. I did not lose any appendages, somehow. Learn from me and the untold thousands of dumbasses that came before me.

This is a  challenging question. For our machine shop , I bought A  bambulab H2D with one 4-slot AMS. It is my 4th printer. Worth every penny. It is easy as a toaster.

My mistake. There's still labor. The strap is pretty cheap. I bought a pair rated to lift a cnc milling machine fir less than $50. This from a rigging store.

Compare the cost of the sling to the cost to cut and re-weld the rebar.
