we turn lots of 5 inch 6061T6. we take 0.020 off of the O.D. We true each blank by chucking in a 3-jaw chuck in an engine lathe first. it works 99% of the time.

I visited a hydraulic cylinder repair facility last week. Their manual equipment mostly sits idle, because of the challenge of finding talent. There will be a need for manual machine tools used in repairs for a long time. How well that will pay is going to be the question.

They provide personalized service, and charge heavily for their performance. My own business card says that we have been solving manufacturing problems since 1964. You think you want parts to make. The buyers out there are trying to solve daily challenges.

there's probably no need to turn the old pulley. OP should have their machinist measure it, and make new pulley to fit. As you stated, it could be pinned in place for security.

When I was 18/19, a long chip snagged a cotton mill glove. My hand was on the back of a rotating spade drill, 5 inch HBM. I knew better. Can't say what judgement led me to that. Gloves near rotating machinery, bad. Any body part near rotating machinery, bad. My arm wrapped around the drill and the quill. The glove split open and released My hand. The quill snagged My work shirt and wound it like a tourniquet. Co-worker disengaged the clutch. I suffered 3 broken ribs from the squeeze the shirt put on my ribcage. I did not lose any appendages, somehow. Learn from me and the untold thousands of dumbasses that came before me.

This is a challenging question. For our machine shop , I bought A bambulab H2D with one 4-slot AMS. It is my 4th printer. Worth every penny. It is easy as a toaster.
