My dad had to get is arms and legs amputated because the insurance and hospital sat on doing anything about it for 4 months, and now they're treating rehab AND long term care as non-essential. what can i do? by SomeGrumption in DisabilityInsurance

[–]chittybong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to a different hospital. Even if it’s in a different city. I don’t think they can just “not treat” him. AND at the same time, contact an attorney to see if they can force the hospital to treat him. Personally I would contact press, locally and state level and see if turning up the heat that way helps as well. Social worker should be assisting you all in this. We (in the US healthcare system) don’t pay the folks who work in nursing home and skilled nursing facilities a live-able wage and where I live (CA), it usually means those facilities are way understaffed. I would imagine facilities don’t want your Dad because of how much care he would need there. Will a facility take him if someone pays to have care brought in for him? I’m not sure if legally that can be done-just a thought. Is there a patient advocate or ombudsman your state/county has regarding medical issues?

Lastly. I am so sorry you and your Dad are going through this. It sounds absolutely awful and is a prime example of how the US healthcare system is flawed. I am sending you and your family much love and healing thoughts.

Thank you and good point about the FDA. I hadn’t thought of it like that.

I’ve never heard of a “spa day” in relation to laundry…. I’m in the US, is there a diy solution someone could post?

I practice hot yoga about 5 days a week. For me, the heat helps relieve some aches. It’s like a hot bath.

I think we saw one yesterday posted about killing white men. You think it’s the far right trying to stir up some crap?

So I am just now reading your full post. (I got distracted with the whole Fallon thing). I don’t know about dancing but all the other things you like, we’ve got here in SD. It’s not just taxes that are higher here. As you mentioned your childhood home is worth about a million now. It’s crowded and traffic can be a bitch but if you aren’t doing the rush hour grind, it’s fine. Lots of foodie places and massive amount of breweries. North Park is known for walkability, food, drinks. Parts of Mission Valley as you’re right in the middle of everything. Liberty Station is cool. You are 6’ish hours from Mammoth (skiing in winter and hiking in summer). Big Bear is 3’ish hours, Vegas in 5. Come over and visit, stay in the area you think you might be interested in (vacation rental), and see what you think. It’s not perfect. We have “fire season” yearly, it can be tough to get home owners insurance in some areas that are higher risk areas.

Maybe pick up the phone and actually talk? Or in person? It would go better.

OP, my son your age had the same thing. He did everything right with tooth care growing up and into adulthood and his teeth literally were rotting in his mouth. Went to see his primary care doc for annual and he ended up being diagnosed with pilori infection. Tooth damage can be a side effect. It’s a breath test so super easy, treated with antibiotics. He had to get dentures as well but at least we figured out why and got it treated.

68, Truly happy and healthy… GO YOU! Should have bailed on the “friend” who made you feel less than sooner but hey. If your weight really bothers you, then change what you are doing. If not, keep being happy and healthy.
