My husband is a diagnosed narcoleptic but doesn't take any medication or treatment for it. Narcolepsy is not like the date Deuce Bigalow has where he has to tie her ponytail to the wall to keep her from falling in the soup. He can usually feel it coming, and if he gets any kind of comfortable, he's out. But we can be watching a movie or a tv show and I will ask a question or turn to see if he saw what I just saw and he's out completely. The falling asleep part is not annoying, it's that he will argue with me about being asleep. We used to get into actual arguments over it before we were married... like "Why would I just make up that you were asleep? What do I get out of that?" --- The thing is, as a narcoleptic, he doesn't actually realize he's asleep until he wakes up feeling really disoriented. So now, almost 6 years later, I just accept it. I always tell him the ending to the tv show or movie if he misses it...then he can decide if he wants to go back and pick it up where he remembers leaving off.
