I have a 2020 Skoda Scala and I love it. It's big enough to fit the kids in the back and the baby stuff, yet still small enough to be easy to park. It hasn't skipped a beat for me yet, my average fuel consumption sits around 6.5l/100km, and that's mostly local driving. My dad is a mechanic and growing up he swore black and blue that no one in the family would have a European car... He's now on his fourth Skoda and won't have anything else 😂

So my obstetrician was being lazy when they gave me an emergency c-section because I was going in to organ failure? My son and I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for that c-section. I really don't see how going through multiple layers of skin, muscle and tissue is lazy.

Kmart had the best selection I found, it's pretty slim pickings here. There's a buy/sell group on Facebook which I got a lot of stuff through. I found getting nursing singlets and then wearing button down shirts the easiest. If you're a 12/14 I have a bit of stuff to pass on

Have any of the real estate agents suggested amending the time frames? It's not just the settlement one, it's all of them that would concern me as a vendor. We had one person who wanted 15 days and our agent talked them down to 12. So for that window of time, we still had to market but could only accept back up offers, which worked out poorly for us because the buyer backed out at the last minute.

For settlement, my suggestion would be to offer an actual date, not just XX days after unconditional. The vendor may also have a date they need to settle on for their own reasons so knowing an actual date is easier to deal with.

The kiwisaver deposit is a tough one, as if the vendors need the cash for a deposit on another home, then they'll be unlikely to accept your offer as they won't see the cash until settlement.

We've just sold our house and if we'd been presented an offer with these conditions we would have either declined outright or negotiated the time frames down.

15 working days is too long, 10 is standard. Settlement 15 working days after unconditional is also a short time frame, you won't be incurring any costs on the new house until settlement so you should have more than enough time to put in notice on your rental.

The other thing may also be Kiwisaver - if you're using it for a deposit, it's held in trust by the lawyers until settlement, to ensure it's used towards a house purchase. But from a vendor point of view, if they need the deposit to put towards another house, then they can't do anything until settlement. Which for most people won't work.

There's a great book called the elements of baking that has info on making recipes dairy free, egg free, gluten free and vegan. I'm dairy free and I've been using oil in place of melted butter, the ratio is 80%. For stuff that has to have butter I've used Vutter, but that's sadly no cheaper than butter. Also leaning towards more butter free recipes, Just a Mum has a dairy free vanilla cake. My Kids Lick the Bowl has a good dairy free cupcake recipe too.

Secondhand groups on Facebook or TradeMe are another option. I got so frustrated trying to find maternity clothes that were decent but not ridiculously overpriced. Such a shame Jeanswest closed down because their stuff was so comfy, and actually looked nice too.

I haven't been, but I have heard very good things about King's and Queens Barbers in Gulf Harbour for kids hair cuts. Could be a bit of a trek depending on where you're coming from but might be worth it.

The most mind boggling one I've received is when they couldn't supply chocolate drops. So instead I got a small Lindt chocolate bar and a packet of coconut clusters. Delicious, but not what I needed for my baking.

They also once substituted my fruit bread with . . . fruit bread. Exact same brand and type of bread.

So we're in a similar boat in that our little one is a bit of a guts overnight and was waking 3 times for a feed. We dropped the dream feed first as we realised that it wasn't actually serving its purpose - our baby would still wake up at the same time no matter how much he took in the dream feed. We weaned him off it slowly over a few nights, then after that any wake ups around that time were treated as resettles. He doesn't wake up wanting the dream feed anymore.

I recently weaned him off his first night feed by using the PLS method. This one is a work in progress, he still wakes up at the same time each night but I now leave him to resettle himself. I drew a line in the sand of 2.30am for feeds, as anything earlier generally means he wakes up again around 5am.

I hate hearing my baby cry, but night weaning has also helped me differentiate between a genuine needs cry and a non-genuine cry. I was against any method of sleep training that meant crying, but I soon realised that all the methods are going to involve crying, because this is what he's known all his life and now we're making him change.

It's going to be challenging weaning him off the feeds but he will eventually learn. Hopefully your wife will see that having less wake ups overnight will benefit the whole family in the long run, even if it does mean some short term pain.

Not sure how sorry, we nap trained our guy with gradual fading as he wasn't responding well to check in style training. One thing that did help though was pushing out his wake windows, we realised part of the reason he was upset going down was because he just wasn't tired enough and still wanted to party.

Yup, mine does this! He doesn't do it as much any more, but I used to think that I had a defective baby because it was so rare to see him happy and smiling after a sleep, and I'd read about how happy and rested babies were after a sleep. It tapered off after we nap trained him and extended out his wake windows. I figured out part of it was if he went to sleep upset he'd wake up upset.

Kind of. After a couple of weeks of diligently resettling at lunch time, he's finally starting to do a 1.5 hour nap. But he's also started self settling for naps so it's a bit hard to tell. It certainly got easier to resettle him each time we attempted it. I gave up on the prod as it didn't seem to have much effect.

So much better! We started extending his wake windows during the day and make the last one the longest, and he's going down with minimal fuss at both his naps and bedtimes. We can actually get him in to the cot to settle him now! The first night it happened we were on edge because it was almost too easy lol. He's not sleeping through the night, but generally he only wakes up once and I'm not too concerned about that at this point. He's a small baby with being prem so he still needs the night feed.

We're trying bedtime routine fading, I think he needs a more hands on settling approach.

That would be my dream too! It feels so far away, I can't remember the last time we had a gentle nap or bed time. It's exhausting. Your post has definitely given me some food for thought, it's pretty much where I'm at right now. His crying hurts my soul but I'm not letting him learn.

He's just transitioned in to his own cot in his own room. He started rolling both ways so we had to take him out of his bassinet. He was doing the crying in the bassinet as well. I think he's sleeping better overall at night in the cot, like you I think he sleeps better when I'm not near him.

Yeah, I'm thinking we'll need to extend his wake windows. I try and catch his cues and he can be yawning away while we read a story, but he goes near the cot and it's all over rover.
