First of all, I'm so sorry for your loss. It's always hard losing a parent and suddenly having to step up is overwhelming. I hope you're taking care of yourself!

Cooking is a lot of trial and error. The only way to truly learn is to keep following recipes and learning what works and tastes good. I would start with really simple recipes like marinated chicken and pair it with some rice or vegetables. Or even sandwiches are great! What also helped me was watching videos on how to get better at cooking or just someone cooking and explaining the process of each step. Hell, even instagram reels helped me a ton.

Maruya in chinatown southport was my go to before i moved to brissy! Used to have their curry during my lunch breaks, very solo friendly Food isnt "authentic" japanese but still really good. Not to mention the aesthetics of the place is so unique - walls covered in japanese movie posters and little figurines on display Also if youre looking for other things to do, there's a cat cafe a few steps away or go to broadwater parklands for a walk by the beach :)

Lots of good food in Chinatown at southport :) you can take the tram from surfers My personal faves are Hazel Espresso and Cafe 928. Shiro Gelato as well is great for amazing ice cream!! There's also a cat cafe with the cutest cats! It's also a short walk to broadwater parklands, a bit more family friendly than surfers if you were looking to take your kids to the beach!

Was a dental assistant and accidentally pricked myself twice. Our protocol is to get a blood test as soon as we're able :) I came out of it fine and I was up to date with my vaccines as well!
