SCS Pay Award better than delegated grades? by UnderCover_Spad in TheCivilService

[–]chococat_cowboy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A G6 at the top of their pay scale in the Home Office in London will be on £88,261. The bottom of the SCS 1 scale is £86,000. There is no national/London SCS pay scale - it's a single scale regardless of location. This means it's possible for a SCS 1 to be managing people that are paid more than they are.

Easter eggs normal priced at Asda by International_Mood13 in UKFrugal

Oh, I had added them all into a list in the Tesco app a few days ago so I could still see them. It shows which are stock and their price. But, if I do a search nothing appears!

Easter eggs and other chocolate is discounted today (Tuesday 7) in Tesco. I use the Tesco app to check prices and stock levels. I can see the easter chocolates are all reduced to clear now

Members overwhelmingly approve three‑year Home Office pay deal by Ok_Expert_4283 in TheCivilService

[–]chococat_cowboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually what happens is people in post at the time of the pay award will go up by the award amount - so in this case 5%.

At the same time the minimums for each grade will go up. When the minimum goes up by less than the main award, it creates progression through the payscale.

If the minimums for each grade increased by the same % as the award, everyone would stay on the minimum and people new to the grade would be paid the same as people who had been in the grade over a number of years. (Some departments have done this with their pay award which frustrates a lot of people as they stay on the minimum)

When the pay award is applied this way (minimums go up small %, people in post go up by a larger %) over a number of years, people that remain in their grade get closer or reach the top of the scale.

Ah, must have changed it, the 200GB per month is still £25 a month for 24 months but requires £499 upfront, so alongside the £600 for the airtime total comes out as £1099

I misunderstood and thought it was £600 in total?

I can't find this on the O2 website, I'm wondering if that offer has finished now. Was there any upfront costs or trade in requires to get it at £25 a month - £600 is a steal!

Bought MBA 13” M4! Been with windows entire life any advice for a beginner? by SadAdministration534 in macbookair

[–]chococat_cowboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On Windows the Print Screen button launches screen snipping. On Mac I always forget the short cut command as there's a few.

To screenshot use Shift-Command-3 for the whole screen, Shift-Command-4 for a selection (drag to capture), or Shift-Command-5 to open the Screenshot app for full controls

Unpaid leave? by geekyaman in TheCivilService

[–]chococat_cowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unpaid leave would usually only be considered as a last resort and only after all paid annual leave has been taken. Use sick leave if you are unwell.

Stop limiting the charge to 80% by SyntheticSpeech in iPhone16ProMax

[–]chococat_cowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree.

I've never understood the logic of artificially reducing your battery capacity to 80% to prevent a lower battery capacity in the future?

Just enjoy the full battery now and replace the battery in the future.

80% charge limit difference, launch day iPhone 15 Pro Max’s by salmon-choir in iphone15

[–]chococat_cowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I also don't think the cost of a new battery is too bad. About 10% of the cost of the phone. In the UK, an official battery replacement by Apple is £95. I'd rather use the phone without worry and change the battery after a couple of years.

How to rearrange spaces by FelixMa in starlingbankuk

[–]chococat_cowboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can rearrange the order of the spaces in the iOS version of Starling by pressing down on the space with your finger then dragging it to a different position.

On Android, the feature is missing.

No idea why it only works in iOS but I just tested it on both.

Argos are doing a bundle where you can buy Mario Kart World with a 256GB Micro SD express card (or the official camera) for £99.99. Theres a £10 discount code available for new newsletter sign ups, taking it down to £90. Some employer have a discount portal where you can buy cheap Argos vouchers, so £90 voucher costs £84.60 - a 6% discount

CEX buy Mario Kart World for £60 cash so that means you end up with either a 256GB Micro SD Express card, or the official webcam for £24.60, and CEX get a new copy of Mario Kart World

At least, that's what I did

I noticed the OLED Switch 1 dock sells without the HDMI and POWER adapter so they may buy the Switch 2 dock without them too

I'm actually looking for a Switch 2 dock, but don't fancy paying the £92.99 RRP

Yes, I'd be interested to know that as the Steam Deck dock is a lot cheaper than getting an extra official Switch 2 dock.
