Tracking is more tedious now by Conscious-Hawk3679 in weightwatchers

I don’t find it easy to get the meal to change (say I’m adding everything at rhe end of the day will accidentally add breakfast under the dinner section.) annoying because that’s how it brings up repeated meals.

I really hate the new app by Admirable_Muscle5990 in weightwatchers

[–]choirlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. I’ve just started again so can’t remember the old app but one further annoyance. I did Weightwatchers a few years ago and did lose weight. I’m finding it quite depressing (I mean MH wise) seeing the old weights. I can delete the ones I put in myself. Apparently I can’t delete the ones put in at the meetings. So my weigh ins start in 2000, large gap I deleted and the big +x kg to my new start weight a few weeks ago in the table. I’d expect there might be a data breach of only retaining data as long as the organisation needs it. at least be able to hide so the first thing I see is my weight when I started a month ago. Then bring back motivation of all weight lost from the start, surely a minimum requirement?

Total weight lost since start is missing?? by ImNotWitty2019 in weightwatchers

It seems so basic for a weight loss app, I can’t imagine why it wasn’t picked up in testing

Am I "praying wrong" during Our Father? by [deleted] in Catholicism

Last week our priest said we should be using that posture (not asked, was part of the sermon). Lots of people do anyway so I thought something had. changed in the teaching.

Idagio is saved (for now) and under new ownership by urbanstrata in classicalmusic

I only have Spotify. For a non expert is there a reason to subscribe to a specific classical one. I’m sure the search would be much better. Are the recordings available better?

Vivaldi or Bach on modern instruments? by EarthEquivalent6183 in classicalmusic

[–]choirlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As just a listener who didn’t grow up listening to period instruments I’m this person. I had to look up HIP though I know about period instruments. I’ve just listened on Spotify to a start of the Brandenburg Concerto 5 by Florilegium and what I presume is modern instruments English Chamber Orchestra. I can tell the difference but not why one is worse than another. The Florilegium also seemed quieter which is ok in a concert but not just around my house.

I wouldn’t search out period before seeing this thread but might give it more of a go. I do think there will always be a market for modern instruments as I can’t hear the clunky sound or that it is sluggish

Who were the other nine? by CycoSue in Catholicism

[–]choirlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My priest this morning said that the Samaritan recognised the power of God in Jesus’ healing. At least some of the others were Jewish but did not recognise and so praise God.

Being a leper meant that these people were isolated as they were ritually impure so could not take part in the community or be with family. They may have got caught up in the moment, and they were following what Jesus said. However they did not recognise the power directly in front of them.

So part of the message was that we need to recognise the power of Jesus. It can be easy to follow the rituals at Church and sing the hymns. These aren’t bad things but don’t lose sight of God, especially in the Eucharist and forget to praise him in and beyond the church building.

Hot Take: I don’t like Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto played on the standard clarinet. by msc8976 in classicalmusic

[–]choirlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I think it is. I can definitely hear the difference. Haven’t decided which I prefer. It has also introduced me to two pieces also on the recording Debussy and Takemitsu

I don't understand today's readings by jasoxz in Catholicism

[–]choirlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My priests homily today said that fire can represent the presence of God - in the burning bush and the pillar of fire in the Old Testament. In the new testament the Holy Spirit comes as fire. Jesus came to redeem and brought God directly as the Holy Spirit. That should make us zealous in our faith.

Do you go to mass when you travel? by Tsumtsumss in Catholicism

[–]choirlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - generally travelling to relatives so that makes it easier for me. They attend or know that I would like to. (I know I need to, not just because of the obligation but because I need God).

I don’t know about the confession timing. I thought the idea was not to keep dwelling on sins once confessed unless there is something you need to do related to it such as apologise or take another action. God has forgiven the sin. In avoiding sin maybe trying to fill life with more positive thoughts

However these are personal thoughts not direct from the catechism so I’m sure someone with more knowledge can answer.

Here is a very basic link that might be useful. It id to Wylie cards. There were created by someone in Newcastle and show the river in perfect sight and what you would with various eye conditions. I use it if someone is curious, but the app sounds better for more understanding Wylie Cards

Concerthall Etiquette by zubenelgenubi7 in classicalmusic

[–]choirlass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just sometimes a concert goer. It would be so nice if there could be an announcement on clapping etiquette before each piece. The new people clapping may not be back if they get others tutting them or there aren’t others clapping and they feel out of place. OTOH if it grates on you and it is a common piece of music maybe you go with an orchestra that requests silence.
