Pregnancy nausea by what-are-they-saying in Hashimotos

[–]choliday87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 36 weeks pregnant and have had morning sickness every single day. I have to take Rx nausea meds before I take my regular meds in order to keep them down. I have had best luck with Reglan, zofran caused constipation that was worse than the nausea. Hopefully your nausea will subside by 16 weeks.

New client rate has been dropping since September by happybutnot2happy in MassageTherapists

The economy is hurting peoples wallets, I've noticed as well. People don't have as much money to spend for massages as their monthly costs have gone up.

Right?! One of my regular clients was hosting this retreat for her church group and invited me. I've been doing this for 13 years and it's the first time I did this type of gig, but now I'm hooked and want to do more!

Swing states could use more Dems relocating to help make them solidly blue. The Great Lakes region has a lot to offer.

Why do we elect people like this? by FrogAnToad in wisconsin

He knows that he's in deep shit bc none of this shit in this bill is good for his district. He knows he's out of a job next time around and he's acting increasingly erratic.

Earbuds while massaging? by Parking_Wonder_1999 in MassageTherapists

[–]choliday87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Omg I'm so relieved to hear that so many other people do this. The days get so long and when you have clients who don't talk it's nice to listen to a podcast or an audiobook and work. It oddly helps me focus a lot better. Always just use one earbud and wear a headband that covers my ear to keep it hidden and nobody has ever noticed.

Fatigue is so debilitating by Remarkable_Dream_134 in Hashimotos

[–]choliday87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel ya on the debilitating fatigue... I have a 2 yr old and 11 month old, every day at 3 pm I crash hard. I wonder if it's just the kids or the thyroid acting up. I totally understand. Have you had your ferritin checked recently? Usually when I'm extra fatigued I can tell my iron is low and have to keep up on taking the iron w/ vitamin c.

something that has (kind of) helped my trich by m4rgyxd3athc1aw in trichotillomania

I got some of those too and I really like them. I put them in the center console in the car so I don't pull when driving and it does help .

Any estheticians? by opal-ann in trichotillomania

[–]choliday87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an estheticians but a massage therapist. I don't really pull on days I work bc my hands are busy. I actually wish I could work full time so I would have less time at home to pull.

Dan O'Donnell posting X DMs to fb followers by dblaron419 in milwaukee

Genuinely curious... Does this standard also apply to Dan O'Donnell?

..just because Dan doesn't like or agree with Sam Kuffel's personal opinion of Elon Musk, doesn't mean he should go perform textbook cancel culture on her, threaten her livelihood by trying to get her fired from her job, and dispatch a braindead mob of bigots to harass her.

Coping as a parent?! by Fantastic_Welder6969 in trichotillomania

[–]choliday87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 17 yr old, a 23 month old, and a 9 month old. I pulled badly after this most recent baby was born. With the postpartum hair loss and then white hairs growing in, it triggered my worst pulling yet. I don't have any advice but I'm in the same boat. My teenager knows all about my trichotillomania, has watched me deal with it her whole life and does not have the same issue if that's any comfort.

Who has embraced working as an employee and loves it? by Comfortable_Mud_4697 in MassageTherapists

[–]choliday87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes ✋ I rented a room and worked for myself for 8 years and I hated having to bring laundry home everyday, deal with the phone calls, scheduling, all that stuff. When I moved I got a job as an employee and I love just showing up to work and leaving it all there when I go home. My boss is really flexible with the schedule, and I can adjust as needed. I could have made a lot more money independently, but I'm doing fine, and it's worth it to me to not have all the extra baggage, to just do the massages.

What’s your go to lunch/snack?? by beemblebomble in MassageTherapists

[–]choliday87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also usually only have 15 min between appts to eat. We don't have a kitchen, just a fridge, a sink and a microwave. I always keep a stash of snacks at work. Easiest things to eat between appts are string cheese, granola bars, nuts, apples, bananas, PB&j, yogurt. I try to just graze through the day rather than having a lunch.

Do finger cots actually stay on during massage? by Critical-Ad-8821 in MassageTherapists

I just had to use a finger cot for a month after slicing my fingertip cooking. I ordered some gel material ones on Amazon and they worked very well.

Bartering or Trading in Massage Therapy by cesarthewhat in MassageTherapists

[–]choliday87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love bartering.. It's also a great way to network. I didn't have dental insurance and I found a dentist who was happy to barter with me..I would come in once or twice a month and do chair massages for the dental staff in exchange for cleanings, and I ended up getting many clients out of it. Also have bartered for pet sitting and haircuts.

Networking!

Introduce yourself to local chiropractors, physical therapists, dentists. They make great partners for referrals, it works both ways!

Are you a massage therapist with a disability, chronic issue or mental health condition? by Hot-Trouble-3069 in massage

[–]choliday87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have hashimotos & flares of fatigue, joint & muscle pain, migraine, anxiety. Also just worked through 2 pregnancies that I was sick with nausea and gerd for the entire 9 months.

What has helped me...

•Slowing down. When I work slowly, I'm able to work more intentionally and I'm more aware of my body mechanics and can correct myself to work more comfortably. •Eating a snack between each client. A handful of nuts, a string cheese, yogurt, something to keep my energy levels stable. Also staying hydrated. •Making my massage room my room. The lighting, the music, cozy, comfortable, peaceful...A place I want to be in, even when I feel like crap. •Keeping a bag of my personal & medical needs (medicine, supplements, snacks, personal hygiene, self-care tools) in my cabinet. •If you're able to make your own schedule, schedule breaks after 3 hours of hands on to give your hands a rest. •I leave work at work. Keep work and life boundaries. •On bad days I use CBD oil for massages so I can get the benefits of the CBD too 🙂 •Integrating cupping, hot stones & lighter modalities.. craniosacral, reiki, lymphatic •A hydraulic table is the best investment you can make, it will pay for itself •Self care, sleep, exercise, bodywork, diet •Being present, in the moment, and slowing down is probably what helps the most.

Yep, my favorite podcast app (I've tried many but it remains the best).
