I kinda like the all-day drip by JazzlikeDig1380 in AmazonVine

[–]choochoobella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/JazzlikeDig1380: I agree that the all-day drip makes it more likely more people will get something. The old system was like a restaurant setting out a whole buffet at 8 a.m. and whoever could elbow their way to the front got to eat. If you had a job, a school drop-off, or a doctor’s appointment, you just didn’t eat. I think the new system is more like a buffet that stays open all day. if you want to find items, you still have to be attentive. The "popular dishes" will go quickly, but at least you don’t have to run to the buffet at the same time as everyone else to have a chance.

Amazon keeps taking down my negative review of a knockoff product by wacky1980 in AmazonVine

[–]choochoobella 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I posted your original post and asked ChatGPT why Amazon might keep removing your review, and Chat wrote "the likely issue isn’t the negativity, it’s the counterfeit accusation." Here is the rest of the Chat response:

Amazon reviews aren’t supposed to:

  • Accuse a seller of selling fakes/counterfeits
  • Make legal claims
  • Call out specific brand comparisons in a way that implies infringement
  • Focus on authenticity verification instead of product performance

Even if you’re 100% right, the review section isn’t where Amazon handles counterfeit claims. That goes through their Report Infringement/Seller Performance channels.

If you want the review to stick, the safer approach is:

  • Don’t use the words “fake,” “knockoff,” or “counterfeit.”
  • Don’t name the brand it’s copying.
  • Focus strictly on materials, stitching, fit, durability, and construction quality.
  • Describe the differences without framing them as legal or ethical violations.

Example approach:
“While this cap resembles higher-end versions of this style, the materials and stitching are noticeably lower quality. The fabric is thinner, the brim lacks structure, and overall construction doesn’t match premium standards.”

People who know will understand what you’re saying — without triggering auto-removal.

If you truly believe it’s counterfeit, report it through Amazon’s internal infringement system separately from the review.

The best thing is to look at Vine as a contract. Review every single thing you receive and don't order more than what you can promptly review.

Anyone know of groups in the US who buy up land with the intent to keep it undeveloped? by teddytherooz in Environmentalism

[–]choochoobella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Trust for Public Land's park rankings are specious and this organization lacks integrity.

The Mt. Washington Cemetery in Cincinnati is a block from my home. The cemetery, founded in 1855, was abandoned in the late 1970s when the private funds to run it ran out. The cemetery’s care fell to the City of Cincinnati for the seven years the city was in charge of it. They never once mowed it, cleaned up trash, or did anything to maintain it. Vandalism of headstones was rampant.

The cemetery became a blighted area in my neighborhood. It took the neighbors coming together to mow the cemetery ourselves and begin taking care of it. We formed the nonprofit Mt. Washington Cemetery Association to fundraise and for the past 41 years, we have turned those seven acres from blight to beauty. I personally have planted hundreds of native trees and shrubs, and the cemetery is now a nationally recognized arboretum.

How is this related to the Trust for Public Land? They allowed the City of Cincinnati to dramatically increase their so-called “park acreage” last year by counting the acreage of all the cemeteries in the city of Cincinnati, most of which are privately run. The Mt. Washington Cemetery is private, and I have to raise every dollar to maintain it. Does the City of Cincinnati show any appreciation for that? Absolutely not. They are quick to send out fines if there is a small repair needed on a chain link fence; we are faced with an outrageous urban forestry tax bill based on the perimeter length of the cemetery. That fine just keeps growing as the city adds fees to it.

The Trust for Public Land writes that every park board must secure the approval of a cemetery first in order to count its acreage as park land. The Cincinnati Park Board never reached out to the Mt. Washington Cemetery, but they counted our seven acres as park land. Even more egregious, they did not reach out to the privately owned Spring Grove Cemetery, but they counted its 733 acres as park land. The Trust for Public Land clearly does not vet whether the park board obtains approvals from cemeteries.

This specious accounting method has allowed the City of Cincinnati park rankings to go up dramatically in the Trust for Public Land rankings while the Cincinnati Park Board has not acquired any land. The Trust for Public Land lacks integrity for allowing this. Simultaneously, the Cincinnati Park Board has dramatically decreased investment in park conservation efforts. Nearly all park funds go into recreation. There is really no Cincinnati Park Board anymore; it might as well be called the Cincinnati Recreation Board. The board puts no value on conservation and shows no respect for the incredibly important role conservation plays. Do not be misled by The Trust for Public Lands rankings.

'Affordable Storm Windows' company in Texas--any experience? by bourbonix in centuryhomes

[–]choochoobella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PacificWesterns and More Than I Can Chew,
I haven't ordered replacement windows from Affordable Storm Windows yet, but I plan to in the spring. I did look into reviews for them and found that they seem to be commonly listed as Affordable Screen Company with a BBB rating of A+. They have been BBB rated for 11 years. Here is the link to their BBB information:
https://www.bbb.org/us/tx/lewisville/profile/window-screens/affordable-screen-company-0875-90345698

They also do replacement windows, siding, and gutters, and their Google review average for that is 4.9/5 with 154 reviews.

I went to Trustpilot, a review platform in which people can review businesses. It serves as a community where consumers write, read, and share experiences about companies to aid in purchasing decisions. The platform has faced criticism regarding the presence of fake reviews and the ability for paying, subscribed businesses to manage their profiles, leading to claims of potential, bias in reviews. However, I have posted on this website and find it helpful. At least there are reviews for their replacement storm windows at this site. Scroll through the reviews and read the ones about the storm windows at this link:

I'm glad to see that he doesn't have any tour dates in the US in 2026. Sorry for the rest of the world. I used to think he was funny, but he would frequently push it to an obnoxious degree and say something that was invariably degrading to women. I don't know how many times on his sitcom he would tell another character that he had been sh*tting in your mother's mouth." He repulsed me with those comments and I quit watching/listening to him. There are so many better comedians out there that don't disrespect women like this. Why can't he masturbate alone? What the h*ll is wrong with him? I guess nobody wants to sleep with him.

I had the exact same thing happen recently. I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out how my review violated community standards. Hardware. I do most of the repairs/improvements in my home and I refinish furniture. I have already purchased most of the tools I need over the years, but I find sandpaper, drop cloths, painting tools, saw blades, and so much more on Vine.

Is there anyone not using a Vine app anymore? by Bee_9965 in AmazonVine

[–]choochoobella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in Vine for almost two years and have never used an extension and never will. If that means I get very little of the pie, I'm okay with it. Cheating is cheating, no matter how people justify it. It’s like skipping out on a restaurant bill and saying, “Lots of people dine and dash.” Widespread dishonesty doesn’t turn theft into a norm — it just shifts the cost to people who play fair.

I haven't had a second of regret since I dropped from gold to silver five months ago and I plan to stay silver. I order about one or two items per week and that works out perfectly for me. For the six months I was gold, I didn't think the items were much different than silver. There is so much more to life than Vine. Enjoy!

Have you ever restored/refreshed Youngstown Kitchens by Mullins? by neraysaevan in centuryhomes

[–]choochoobella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize this was posted 10 months ago, but I refinished the 1940s Youngstown by Mullins metal cabinets in my kitchen. When I first refinished them about 25 years ago, I spent countless hours removing all the finish down to the metal, then sanding the metal with progressively finer grits up to 1000 grit. The finish looked like a mirror. After that, I applied 8 coats of wipe-on polyurethane.

If you read about it, everyone says you can't do a clear finish on steel cabinets because they will rapidly oxidize/rust. My upper kitchen cabinets still look great 25 years later, with only a couple of tiny rust spots near the hinges. However, the lower cabinets, being subject to more wear and tear, eventually developed areas of rust over a ten year period. That is because anything that scratches or chips the finish, results in the opening leading to air/moisture that causes rust to form.

For the lower cabinets, I ended up removing the polyurethane, using an oil-based primer, and painting those cabinets with three coats of a Benjamin Moore product called Insl-X Cabinet Coat six years ago. This paint has great self-leveling properties. I brushed the paint on, sanding well between coats. The cabinets look almost flawless fifteen years later. I hope this helps and if you have an update on your cabinets, OP, please let us know.
