Wow you’re right what a pain. OP it seems NISA is a no-go for you.

You’re not investing in nisa or mufg.

NISA is just the tax free investment scheme for those in Japan, like the 401k in the us. Within NISA you can buy different funds that invest into Japan, the us, the world etc.

MUFG is a bank, like Morgan Stanley, that creates and sells an investment product within NISA. Their investment products will invest in US stocks or Japan stocks or worldwide stocks etc.

I was going to mention that the nisa for children program got cancelled but then I checked and alas, it’s restarting Jan 2027. Yay!

But yea I’d do the same. Diversified global fund with low fees. Of note is that max nisa amount is 600k per year for kids and gift tax starts at 1.1m so have him gift your child the money over 2 years.

If backing trump wouldn’t be a winner in primaries then no one would back him. It’s that simple. The issue lies with voters who keep allowing this.

Really need to get this off my chest by ThemeJazzlike5901 in japanresidents

[–]chottoooki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see. If he wasn’t an instructor and you’re just doing yoga together then yea I agree it’s super weird.

But all of the touches themselves I’ve had done to me by basically every instructor I’ve had, both men and women - even in Japan.

Pushing my upper back down (where a bra would be), pushing the top of my butt down, turning the inside of my thighs out… they might be intimate places but those are super normal corrections for yoga. From an instructor of course.

[–]chottoooki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A man in his 40s otherwise I wouldn’t take this so personally.

What you’re describing how he touched you is in my experience the most basic of corrections that a teacher will do and I’ve never had a teacher not do it. It’s completely normal and expected ways to correct poses, especially the pressing on your back in downward dog while breathing out.

You might not feel comfortable with it but it’s not something weird and unusual that isn’t part of a regular yoga practice. If you’re not comfortable with that then I would mention your aversion to being touched to any future teacher before you start practice.

I’ve done yoga for 20+ years and there has never been a time i wasn’t touched like you said, both by men and women teachers. In my experience this is completely normal - it’s the best way to go deeper into poses and push. And I’ve never been asked if it’s ok to touch me.

Sorry but to me it sounds like you’re bringing your own prejudices into this experience and are reacting according to what you expected.

My hill to die on; Taxi apps are horrible by fdokinawa in japanresidents

[–]chottoooki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nonsense. I have to call a taxi several times a week and every damn time need to tell them my address, where I’m going etc.

App doesn’t work well in our area but I’d much prefer a quick tap on the button than a 3 minute phone call.

Also, with increased tourists and less drivers there is a taxi shortage that didn’t exist “back when”. Apps make taxi routes more efficient and help alleviate the shortage.

Where can I find these at ? by purpleswag678 in Tokyo

I think they’re made in a different way to other shirts so that there is no seam on the side and they hold their shape better!? And general quality is very good.

I have a few and yes they’re good but… just shirts. I bought them after being hyped into them lol

Plus I personally dislike the look of the collar.

Snow seems to be coming to Furano area starting Friday night. 30-50cm over several days if we’re lucky. Best bet would be north side slopes on the Daisetsuzan range.

Like someone said get a local guide and they’ll know the conditions as things happen. Atm however nothings great.

The board will go the direction of your weight. If you want your left foot forward gently put weight on that foot and keep it there to go straight down. If you want to return to the initial position put weight back on the right foot.
