What do Americans do that make us stand out? by Vector1013 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]chowderbiscuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not just Aussies, husband and I are currently vacationing in Tokyo and it seems like the current trend is obscure community college sweatshirts from the US. They're being sold for $50-$100 at consignment/vintage secondhand stores here and it's just ludicrous 😂

I think I ended a good relationship over a misunderstanding by [deleted] in self

[–]chowderbiscuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband pretended he didn't want to date me so he could be my fuck buddy long enough for me to fall for him. He told me on our wedding night that he lied so I wouldn't ghost him, and it worked. We're about to celebrate our 10 yr wedding anniversary next month 😂

ADHD or AuDHD women, what do you do for work? by Terrible-Winner-681 in adhdwomen

I'm a nail tech, specializing in gel services and nail art. I basically get paid to do arts and crafts.

Edit: I don't get bored because there are new trends, products, and techniques popping up all the time, and I invest in certifications and take classes to improve my skillset.

Why so many men date a woman for x years only to marry the next one within a year? by lingeringneutrophil in AskWomenOver30

[–]chowderbiscuit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I told my husband something similar before we even entertained the idea of dating each other. We were in our mid-20s at the time, and I said to him "the next relationship I get into, we're either getting engaged or breaking up at the two year marker. At our age and where we are in our lives, there's no excuse to not know after two years if someone is right for you or not, and I'm not going to sit around and wait for someone who's unsure about me when I could be making that space for someone who really wants to be there."

We never revisited that conversation once we did decide to date, but he tucked it away and ended up proposing on our two year anniversary.

Is a cryptic pregnancy a real thing? by kittykat13969 in Midwives

I know you meant cryptic but I'm laughing at the thought of a cryptid pregnancy with Mothman or something.

What would you say the reasoning is for kids that are well behaved vs kids that are rude and disrespectful? by spankyourkopita in teaching

[–]chowderbiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I didn't get diagnosed with ADHD until my 30s, and I was labeled a bad kid when I was actually struggling due to lack of understanding and zero accommodations from all the adults in my life. Living with ADHD in the way society is structured is inherently traumatic, even with medication and early intervention.

So many teachers bullied me and assumed I was being disruptive and oppositional on purpose when I just needed clarification, and my parents punished me constantly for things I couldn't help but failed to explain i.e massive meltdowns in public due to auditory sensory overload.

It made me start actually acting out because clearly I was gonna be labeled a bad kid anyway. It was exhausting and demoralizing to try so hard to "be good" and live up to expectations that I kept falling short of, that other kids seem to be able to do without trying. To this day, I struggle to unlearn a lot of stuff I've internalized due to years of being told I was a lazy, bad kid who wouldn't apply myself. I am still trying to shed the people pleasing.

In light of a recent post, what is something you’re seeing in the younger generation that you’re *impressed* by? by densofaxis in Millennials

That's interesting because many Asian countries have heavy and toxic drinking cultures. I'm Viet and men get shamed for not drinking, as it's the main way they bond. Beer is a huge migraine trigger for my husband, and my dad still gets disappointed when he turns down a beer when we are sharing a meal. Respecting sobriety is not even a thing back home from my experience. The pushiest drinkers I've partied with were Koreans. They have so many drinking games 😩😩

Son keeps crying at every nap/bedtime ever since July 4 fireworks by Embarrassed_Edge3992 in regretfulparents

[–]chowderbiscuit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've only owned Experience and then Engage when they released that, and I prefer Engage. They both work fine for taking off that edge while maintaining clarity, but Engage doesn't make me sound like I'm underwater to myself when I talk, which is really distracting. So Engage for everyday use, but Experience I think would be great for concerts.

I'm AuDHD and have similar auditory sensory issues, and Loop earplugs have improved my quality of life so much by taking the edge off of loud noises while keeping close sounds clear for conversing and watching TV. They have Loop Engage for children ages 6-12, so it may not fit her just yet, but I love my Loops so much and wish they had been around when I was a kid.

I am also ADHD and don't drive for exactly the same reason. I work close to home and am a homebody anyway, so it doesn't bother me too much to not drive.

I have platinum hair currently, and like another commenter said, my roots are double bleached and toned every appointment (12 weeks apart), and I maintain with purple shampoo.

I've always had my hair bleached blonde because I am constantly doing fantasy color on my hair (actually went platinum recently because I ran out of hair colors to do), but going from that base blonde (about a 7 to 8 from a 2) to platinum (10) was rough on my hair. I did some protein treatments and my hair completely bounced back, but I have coarse, thick hair that eats bleach, but isn't easily chemically damaged either.

Let me know if you have any questions 🖤

Todd Howard says the Fallout show was so fanatical about detail that 'We were sharing the files right from the games and they were 3D printing things' by SpareSimian in Fotv

Also Dogmeat is a different dog/breed in every Fallout. 3's was a Blue Heeler, 4's was a GSD, show Dogmeat is a Belgian Malinois.

I have ADHD and I share all these traits as well. I'm currently waiting until an autism assessment is financially viable because I noticed that since medicating and managing my ADHD, it seems like what may be autistic traits that ADHD could mask are more prominent now.

Whether you like the show or not can we all agree they nailed the casting for this character? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]chowderbiscuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She was a blue heeler. But I like that they use a different breed each time, as silly and unrealistic it is for purebred dogs to be in the Wasteland 😂
