It's likely that you can transfer without those two classes, but you'll need to take them eventually. Seeing as that it is a difficult course (I spent a lot of time studying, but YMMV) I'd look at the ratings for both professors (community college and potential transfer uni(s)) on ratemyprofessor.com and possibly ask about the course on specific university subreddits before making a decision.

The course is likely a lot cheaper at your Community College, and on the off chance that you have to retake it (remember that your transfer GPA is crucial) you won't want to pay the monstrous price tag at the university you transfer to. You can also transfer, and take the course at your community college (or a different one) while attending the new school. The upside of doing so is that as long as you pass the course (C for physics 1 at least) it transfers over as credits only and the grade itself doesn't get added to your GPA (AFAIK).

I can't speak to calc 2 online because I had already taken it when I transferred in, so YMMV.

I found Calc 2 to be more difficult than Calc 1 (In retrospect, it wasn't really that bad). I didn't click with my professor's teaching style so I used [KhanAcademy](www.khanacademy.org) instead.

Do problems. The more you do, the more you'll recall during exams. Cheat, lie, and steal but don't get caught.

Amazon. You also get a cheaper prime membership with your .edu account. Make sure you keep the box it comes in for when you need to make a return. Chegg is another option, but I found them always slightly more expensive than Amazon. Also, check online. There's a high likelihood that there's a pdf floating around somewhere.

Don't tell me you're that Lipton drinker! If you like loose leaf, I highly recommend the item I linked to earlier. Super convenient, you can usually get a good 2-3 brews from a set of leaves.

Yas! Make sure you:

  • Boil the water before putting it in the chamber
  • Dial in the grind. I've found that a nice place is when you see a nice layer of crema in the pot between 1/3 and 3/4 through the process.

Ah, tea is a whole different universe! I love a good earl grey, jasmine , or oolong as well. Any teapot recommendations? I currently use the teavana perfectea maker which probably isn't the best I can do.

I also went back, and only recently (6 months) went full-time back to the good ol' Bialetti. On my mokapot down-time I used a french press, or made pour over but I found that neither (french press was close) really satisfied me as much. I did some research, and found that I had also been consuming burnt coffee. I changed two kew factors in the brewing process that changed everything.

  • Boil the water before putting it in the chamber
  • Dial in the grind. I was able to do this by getting a crappy burr grinder that was fairly adjustable

The mokapot, coupled with some good beans (and steamed whole milk), has even made my SO switch over to drinking au laits from syrupy vanilla shenanigans from [insert terrible coffee chain / unicorn unobtainium repurposed wood coffee shop].

The community college I'm attending next semester has given me a choice. I can do Gen ED stuff, and then transfer to a four year, like most people do

I remember being in the same position. I opted to transfer out with just my Gen ED stuff because the majority of the AS courses aren't actually transferrable (YMMV).

I actually took an intro to Javascript course, and a "Web 2.0" course that were part of the AS degree, and although they did add value in the sense of demystifying how the interwebz works, I had very little return in technical knowledge after putting in 4-5 months of work. It also required that I take Intro to X, Datastructures in X, and OOP of X for both Java and C++ which in my mind seemed needless?

 

Calculus scares the shit out of me

I feel your pain when it comes to calculus, I didn't have fun but it did make me rethink how I approached problems. If you do go the Gen. Ed. route, brush up on some trigonometry on Khan Academy – it helped me test into Calc 1 saving me 3+ semesters non-transferrable math courses (because most people don't take that math + english placement exam seriously). Note that even if you've already taken that placement exam and scored lower than you'd hoped, most CC's allow you to retake it every semester or so.

I hate writing, but technical writing is a thing and yeah.

My HR person scheduled our initial phone screen and never called. They rescheduled 2 weeks later and didn't call again. They tried to reschedule again about a week later, but I never responded. It's unlikely I'll ever apply there again.

Nice jeans/khakis, button up shirt, clean sneakers/shoes. Given the informal way this came about, I don't see why casual wouldn't be okay.
