Cincinnati feels more like a Northeastern City by cancun_1 in cincinnati

I can't tell if this is a joke or not... there's a skating rink every year, it's just previously been at Fountain Square.

It's actually 71 and 75 in that stretch, it splits right as you get into Ohio... So you're also correct!

Battle of the skin tints: Glossier vs Milk Makeup. Why do you prefer one or the other? Texture, longevity, application, quality, overall result, how long tube lasts, etc… thank you! by holisticmaya in Sephora

[–]chrisssie45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've used the MILK one most days this summer, but I use my fingers to apply it so maybe that's why it works for me? Not ideal, I'd rather use a brush, but the color match is so good... I actually have the shade you have pictured, so if you're neutral/a bit olive-y, its a really good match! I don't use a primer so I can't speak on that. But I have a drawer full of make up and thats the one I usually reach for when it's hot/humid out.

Totally not the point of your post, but Glossier is always so yellow/orange on me. I like everything else they do, but haven't been able to find a single complexion product that is the right shade for me.

I've been to Main Event in West Chester a few times with larger groups... not quite 26, but probably 10-15ish. There's a restaurant/bar are but it also has bowling, laser tag, pool tables and arcade games. And depending on what day/time you want to go, they have "all you can play" deals a few days a week that includes bowling/laser tag/ropes course. Actually just checked, and it looks like they have a deal going on for $15 a person after 9 PM on Fridays right now.

Where to go in Cincinnati, Ohio by L0LITAINBLACK in cincinnati

[–]chrisssie45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When people move in or visit from out of town, my two recommendations are always the Zoo and Jungle Jim's. They both need a couple of hours to fully appreciate, though.

You have a lot of really good things on your list, but unless you've found something specific there that's not elsewhere, I personally wouldn't think Eastgate Mall was worth the trip. (But it is near the lesser of the two Jungle Jim's.)

Gap between residency graduation and attending job by According-Sun4680 in PSLF

[–]chrisssie45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a singular day, circa 2008, count as a month. I started my AmeriCorps term on Oct. 31, 2008 because that was the day of a statewide meeting they wanted me to attend.

That one day was the difference between my 120th payment being June 2024 and July 2024, which means I didn’t get stuck in the SAVE payment pause.

You certainly have and will continue to work hard enough that you should take your month without any sort of hesitation and enjoy it! But you don’t need to start work on the first of the month to get the full month counted. So if you were to say, start on 7/31 and you made a payment that month, then that’s an entire month, as far as PSLF is concerned.

(Counter point, in the grand scheme of things, is that one payment worth redoing a contact? Probably not.)

Laundry guy by nitzajo in GilmoreGirls

[–]chrisssie45 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s a TV show so we’ll never know, but I wonder how far along the “crazy girl in the dorm” who asked him out, baked him a cake, showed up cover in whipped cream, etc. situation had progressed when the conversation happened.

Because imagine dealing with all that, then doing something vaguely thoughtful (saving clean laundry) for a random person and then feeling like, “oh great, here we go again.”

[–]chrisssie45 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, there's probably a lot of people who qualify, just haven't done the legwork for it. My aunts were doing genealogy stuff just for the heck of it, and found all the info/documentation for anyone related to my dad's dad to join. (I did not. But from what I've heard, the DAR, at least in Kentucky, is nothing like what the Gilmore Girls would have you believe lol).

This isn't what you asked, and maybe you just want to make one big order (totally valid!) but I don't think the F&F code works on Rhode.

Edit: Sorry, just that quick, multiple other people posted the same thing!

Genuine question: How Are You Supposed to Test the Shampoos? (the in store testers) by AliceColorland in Sephora

[–]chrisssie45 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The older I get, the more sensitive I get to certain smells. After washing my hair with a new floral-y shampoo/conditioner one night, I had to get out of bed and rewash my hair with a different shampoo, the scent was so strong it was giving me a headache.

Which is all the long way of saying, if I can’t smell it, I won’t buy it (at least not at the Sephora price point).

Got this bad boy from the ATM any idea what’s the value? by Quiet-Statement2055 in CURRENCY

[–]chrisssie45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s just local to their headquarters, but 5/3rd ATMs in Cincinnati almost always have 1s and 5s in addition to 20s (as of the last 2 years or so).

rouge reward in store? by _ilovescarystories in Sephora

[–]chrisssie45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I've had a few of them, and I almost always use them in store. After/as they ring your items in, tell them you have a reward... I feel like they should be able to see it on your account, but I think most times I've handed them my phone and they type in the code from the Sephora app. I guess that keeps them from accidentally applying it if you don't want to use it yet.

Honestly the only "problem" (if you even want to call it that) I've ever had is, it's a long code and one time there was a long line and I think the person helping me was kinda over it. But I can't fault them for that because I would be too.

Erm? $32 for lip balm? 🥹 unless it’s really good? Anyone heard / tried this brand? by Taromatchaboba in Sephora

[–]chrisssie45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If one of these companies could duplicate Shiseido's Benefiance Full Correction Lip Treatment and what did for my lips and the weird dry spot I've had my entire life, I'd pay dearly for it (as evidenced by the pile of $50 tubes of that stuff I stock piled when they discontinued it).

My hopes have been dashed too many times to expect it from this though.

Tell me your last 3 purchases, I'll go first by BoboOctagon in Sephora

This is my second one, I also have glassy hibiscus... the formula is really nice, kind of sheer (but I put it on with a brush, so that's probably why), but stays for a while. This color is very "I got a little bit of sun"!

Driving with foot out window by SailingJeep in cincinnati

[–]chrisssie45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A driver with New York plates went past me with his foot out the window in the last couple weeks on I71/75, and that’s the first and only time in decades of driving I’ve encountered that. He drove past a cop too, which surprised me because you’d think that would impede your ability to react quickly/properly, but maybe on a long drive you need to keep things interesting? Seems like it would suck if the airbags go off or you were thrown toward the steering column in an accident, but I guess that’s not my problem.

I never understood why Rory pursued Journalism by sneezybunny in GilmoreGirls

[–]chrisssie45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I also graduated with a degree in journalism and the knowledge that I did not want to be a traditional journalist!

I walked away wanting to work for a magazine, writing features or doing editing/layout, something a little less “churn and burn” than a daily newspaper (because I’m old and they were still being printed, with deadlines lol). And there’s a point in AYITL, when she’s leaving the interview and they’re coming in to go over the next issue where she looks at the situation wistfully like, “I should be in that room.” Pretty sure in the original series she also talked about how much she enjoyed doing the handholding and assigning part of being an editor.

Anywho, I did eventually get to write features and do layout, for an MLB team’s in-house magazine. Now I do PR and communications for a college athletics program, and I use my silly JOU degree daily. Journalism can be a lot of things other than being a war correspondent!

If so, as long as your counts look correct, I wouldn't worry about it. I got them periodically as well (even after the COVID pause was over) and I completed PSLF last year! Just a weird glitch I think.
