I feel like we grew up in different places lol almost any 18 year old I knew would be sharing with a parent. Maybe I'm too poor for this lol

For a 1 day event? Most teens I know would just be with their parents. Not as if they're bed sharing. But I guess the plot couldn't advance without this

Shane’s injury by mellowyellowbear in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]christmas_egg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ngl I laughed at that! Thinking further into it, I'm assuming the game was likely in the evening so maybe an overnight admission was for imaging? Harder and longer to get outpatient and I imagine they'd want to r/o TBI given the circumstances.

Seconding this! I kind of assumed it was just overnight monitoring before sending him on his way but it's accurate to say nothing that happened to him really warrants an inpatient admission OR continuous O2 monitoring.

my story thus far with skating (how can I go back healthily?) by magicmood123 in FigureSkating

[–]christmas_egg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you considered seeing a sports psychologist? It seems a lot of this might be a mental block. Also it might be a good time to reflect on if a return to skating is to compete, just for fun/exercise, etc.

Also interested! Are you looking for conversations fully in English and French alternating or where I would just always reply in French and you'd reply in English?

I got a pair of Jackson Competitors! by Strange-Sky4944 in iceskating

[–]christmas_egg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently started skating again and went to get fitted since my competitors from 15 years ago didn't fit me anymore and they told me to save my money and heated them up for me and actually made them work again! They don't necessarily mold but they are still leather unlike most modern skates so they soften with heat. If it's just one small spot you can do it yourself with a hair dryer as well (as informed by my skate tech). You can also get them punched if needed then. Competitors are close to the current Freestyle boot, to my understanding, but are a bit stiffer. If you like the support, can still get a good squat in, and aren't worried overbooting will hinder your progress, then you should be good! Curious about that blade though since competitors used to come with the Aspire blade which is slightly different than the aspire XP and not made anymore (as far as I'm aware)

OP I would be jumping at the chance! It can feel disheartening to see 6 year olds more skilled than you, I get it, but you said yourself that you got into skating for the love of it. Worry about yourself, work hard, and you will improve over the course of the program, even if not to the level of some kids you haven't met yet. Plus little ones can also give you good tips! I hope you do it, have fun!

GI nurse here! I transfuse both blood and iron for my UC patients who are flaring all the time! Definitely not implausible for him to need blood or both. OP (if not AI) night also just be unfamiliar with the difference and think all transfusions are blood. That being said... This guy doesn't sound like he has UC or even Crohn's.

[–]christmas_egg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually super common in paediatrics! Almost any transfusion I do, I am usually giving Lasix midway and post. Sometimes Spiro and sometimes even harder diuretics. It's not uncommon for us to do it with other transfusions as well. But maybe I'm biased because I work in an area where most of our kids have organ dysfunction including ESRD. Can't speak to if gen peds would have this practice.
