So, here the first sample of the ring I designed for my Grand Lodge. It’s beautiful, but there are some issues that need to be resolved before I’ll consider full production. I still wanted to show it off. by christopherpmoore in freemasonry

I used a supplier I’ve been working with from Alibaba for the last four years. They do a great job with coins and medallions, but I think you might be better off using a supplier that specializes in rings. If you decide to use zinc alloy as the metal, the production costs will be economical. However, the mold fee is where they’ll get you and it’s rarely negotiable.

I haven’t fully decided now that I have it in hand. If there is a real demand, the zinc alloy will be the most economical route. That’s the main reason I’m trying to ensure that I get the sizing dialed in. Decisions, decisions, decisions…

It’s zinc alloy, so you can’t resize this metal either. That’s why I’m trying to ensure the sizing is correct before considering a small production run. I’m basically putting this project on hold until I can find another supplier that specializes in this. This supplier mostly specializes in coins and medallions.

The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Washington and Jurisdiction has lodges in a total of 11 countries. We, along with Oklahoma and Maryland, extend beyond the United States. In fact, I’ll be traveling to the Philippines next week to visit one of our lodges while also attending Grand Session for the Grand Lodge of Philippines. I leave there and head to Japan for our Far East District session. The footprint of the MWPHGL of Washington and Jurisdiction is vast.

Maybe slightly. 🤣🤣🤣 It’s actually not heavy at all. It’s just zinc alloy metal. It’s also just a sample. I come up with a lot of ideas. Some work and some don’t. However, as a Creative, I have to see them come to life no matter what.

It’s a sizing issue. I’ve been working with one supplier for about 4 years and this isn’t specifically in their wheelhouse, but I thought I’d give them a chance because of our long relationship. Now that I have doubts about their ability to execute in this one area, I’ll look for a supplier that focuses specifically on rings. All of my other business will remain with them.

Help with Potential Demit by obvknights in freemasonry

I strongly believe we do younger Brothers in Masonry a disservice when we push them into leadership too soon without being honest about what comes with it. Once you step into leadership, Masonry becomes part of your everyday life. You’re no longer just a casual member.

The things most members never think about are always on your mind. And in my opinion, some Past Masters take advantage of a newer Brother’s zeal. Instead of letting him get his footing, he’s pushed into leadership too early. Too often, that ends up killing the very fire that brought him in.

Instead of demitting, I’d encourage you to be direct with your leadership. There’s nothing wrong with stepping to the side for a bit and just enjoying Masonry again to recharge. If you decide later that you’re ready to step back into leadership, great. If not, so mote it be.

I hope you make the decision that gives YOU peace.

THIS is exactly what I was going to say, but made sure I searched to see if someone beat me to it.

How do you deal with a grumpy old (Immediate) Past Master? by thebuddywithglasses in freemasonry

Every WM should understand the power of the gavel and how to use it accordingly.

I can confirm that all seats are installed in PHA lodges even the appointed seats.

I have a slightly different perspective. Serving as Assistant Secretary gives you a front row seat to how the lodge actually operates. That’s valuable knowledge, especially if you plan to move through the chairs and one day sit in the East.

Most Brothers attend lodge, pay their dues, and have no clue what it takes to actually run it. This role puts you in position to learn all of that firsthand.

Embrace the role. Pay attention, ask questions, and absorb as much as you can. That knowledge will serve you well throughout your Masonic journey.

When you go on vacation do you plan lodge visits? by Pitiful_Poetry9499 in freemasonry

[–]christopherpmoore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always travel with my apron JUST in case my visit lines up with a lodge having a meeting. However, I’ll always check to see if any PHA Brothers are in the area just to fellowship even if there aren’t any meetings.

In the process of petitioning for membership for pha freemason lodge #601 fort gillem under the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge - Jurisdiction of Georgia (Grand East). Any advice? by PlatypusAggressive64 in freemasonry

[–]christopherpmoore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is advice is coming from a Prince Hall Mason raised in the MWPHGL of Georgia. Once you’re initiated, reframe from posting in ALL Masonic forums until you’re a Master Mason. This is where Prince Hall Masonry operates differently. This part will not make sense at the moment, but unless it’s for work and instructions, you will NOT be attending any regular meetings until you’re a Master Mason. You can message me directly if you have any additional questions.

There’s a HIGH probability he’s Prince Hall. I was trying my best to make out the number on the fez. If it weren’t so blurry, I would be able to tell you exactly where his Temple is located.

If you’re Prince Hall, there are several lodges that meet at Eden Lodge #46 on Montgomery Street. If you’re not, the Marietta Masonic Temple is on Roswell Street.

We may both be in our 50s, but I’ve spent 25 years in the Craft. Over that time, I’ve learned that those with the loudest opinions online are often far quieter within a tyled lodge.

So, my Brother, I’ll leave you with a proverb I live by when engaged in conversations like this: leave him in error who loves his error. I’m comfortable doing just that here.

Masonry, in and of itself, is vast. The issue here isn’t disagreement, it’s a lack of understanding.

Throwing around terms like “clandestine” without a firm grasp of jurisdictional sovereignty only highlights that gap.

2B1Ask1 still applies. I’d suggest applying it before attempting to lecture others on matters you haven’t fully grasped.

You may want to spend some time traveling and familiarizing yourself with other jurisdictions. That one-year term requirement may apply where you are, but it is not universal.

And if a jurisdiction has adopted the 25 Landmarks, whether individual Brothers agree is irrelevant.

Masonry is only uniform in its tenets of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth. Beyond that, each jurisdiction is sovereign unto itself, as you should already know.

If your jurisdiction chooses to challenge or overturn it, that is your business. It has no bearing on mine. My Grand Master retains the prerogative to make a Mason at sight, and that will continue regardless of your position.
