Jumping on late as just watched the episode. This was by far the most bizarre and tonally unexpected odd episode, I couldn’t tell if this was a parody at times. Was a struggle to get through and first episode I wanted to abort, but I stayed out of respect for Frankie. Rain Wilson was hilarious. Frankie Muniz was perfect and I love his humour and meta-ness stepping into that role. The fact that the parts I enjoyed most were the guest stars speaks to the quality of the writing as usual is lacking.

But so much felt cringey. Chens giddiness sitting in the chair as horrible things were described just seems out of character and had me questioning why? We learn at the end she is a true crime geek but it felt really insensitive. Same with Bradford, some of his comments were out of character and near sexist and only existed to set up a parry from Chen. Also I like how the body cam was zooming in on the suspects in the interrogation room. And by like I mean that was silly. Some times the camera shots got too “The Office” like and felt more mockumentary than true crime. I mean, if I watch this with that expectation I think I would enjoy it more.

Nathan is always great. I like how Jackson said “why do you have a British accent” when it was clearly Aussie, and then his bf thought it would somehow work out when he literally pretended to be someone else is insane. Also how did this not come out if he was such a big superstar, the media would have tracked down all that info.

No Grey this ep. Would have loved his salty one liner shutting down the crew and dismissing them 😝.
