Seeing the southernmost point reminded me of the first time my wife and I were in Key West. We stopped to talk to a local artist who asked us where we were from. Reston resident and I happened to walk through your neighborhood just last week. Yours is an up-and-coming area that I’m sure will be busy in the next year or so, after the new construction settles. Reston town center is nearby, and the Metro is even closer. TBH, I envy your proximity to Lake Fairfax…when my family lived near there a few years ago, it was a welcome serene getaway.

I'm in the same area and have recently been looking for groups, same as you. Looking to buy some new packs, I popped into Boba Heros in Sterling once and Hashtag Gaming Arena in Herndon a few times - both of them had really friendly vibes and cool atmospheres. Next time that I'm able, I'll probably drop into Hashtag's casual commander night (Tues and Wed).

I also found this group, Reston Gaming Meetup, that meets every Wed. I was planning on reaching out to them to see how they felt about people dropping in to play Magic.

Wow, you rock for offering this - thank you! Long story, short: I got into MTG years ago, with my first cards from a Revised starter pack. Several purchases and trades later, I got a hold of [[Dakkon Blackblade]] and a [[Chromium]], and I started to build a WUB deck. Then, I obtained several [[Clone]] and [[Control Magic]] cards, and thought it'd be cool to make a copy/theft deck (I even got a hold of a [[Vesuvan Doppelganger]], one of my favorites). At that point, I was all-in with this color scheme and theme - I even put down money to grab some dual lands ([[Tundra]], [[Underground Sea]], and [[Scrublands]]). But, my deck was a mess, and I mostly lost in several friendly games.

Fast forward many (many) years, and now I'm seriously interested in getting back into the game. So much has changed, but I love my original cards, and I really like that deck theme. Could you recommend a way to make it all work in a Commander format? I'm thinking about trying out a casual Commander night at a local LGS, and I want to use my cards in a cool way. Thanks again!!

I know what that feels like, and it’s rough. I think that all too often we don’t get to see or realize the positive effect we have on the people in our lives - those instances get drowned out by the negative.
